England aside, Lingard has out performed him in the United shirt. His FA Cup final winning goal alone puts him ahead of Welbeck but theres also the cracker against Chelsea last season and that class solo goal against Leicester in the Community Shield that nobody seems to ever recognize.Lingard is not at Welbeck's level, that is ridiculous. Just look at what Welbeck has done for England for starters. So underrated, because of the injuries and being played out of position. He has been quality as a centre forward for club and country.
Thats a bizarre statement. Hernandez stretched the defence and made excellent runs. I hate that because he scored a lot, people think he was one dimensional. Every other aspect of his game is severely underrated... passing, link up play, heading and pace being the main aspects.I find the weird fascination over Hernandez confusing though. The guy has always been a pants player who can score goals only when the rest of the team is playing at 120% & laying things up to him on a plate.
Lol! You can't prevent such a long injury like the one he has just suffered.Back on the treatment table before season end.
Rojo has been excellent this season and theres no way anyone would pay more than that for a striker that can't score. Hes supposed to be "United through and through" yet he seems happy to be playing for one of our biggest rivals... good riddence in my opinion. Anyone that truly loved the club wouldn't do that.I'll find it annoying that we sold him to a major rival for just £16m (less than we paid for Rojo, similar to what we paid for Darmian) until we actually have a better team and finish above them again.
Fair enough your entitled to your opinion. He has never been good enough to be starter & if he was he is more alkin to someone like ll0rtene for bilba0Thats a bizarre statement. I never saw a player get criticised for actually scoring goals. Yet Welbeck couldn't score in a brothel and his departure is deemed a "mistake"
I don't get this at all. If I could bring one player back to United, it would be Chicha.
When he was a starter, we won the league and reached the final of the Champions League.Fair enough your entitled to your opinion. He has never been good enough to be starter & if he was he is more alkin to someone like ll0rtene for bilba0
You're acting like Welbeck was Lingard's less talented, less physically adept brother, while Chico was Van Nistelrooy's higher output brother.Fantastic deal for us to get rid of him. Arsenal haven't go their money's worth as he never plays and he's not a real goal scorer. If we should regret anyone it should be Chicharito, as he was twice the player Welbeck will ever be.
...Not signing Ibrahimovic would have been a perfectly decent plan IMO. I mean he is quality, and has done well, but our game is less dynamic and Martial and Rashford would have played more, and more together which I think could really hurt defences.
And that's Ibrahimovic, a physical beast who rarely misses game. Falcao was different -yes I thought it would go better but you still have to call it a mistake.
Oh the mythical Madrid game. He was world class in that game. That's a sole reason why we shouldn't have sold him.How about we share some memories about Welbeck at United? Like the time he took the lead against Mourinho's Real Madrid
He was so good in that game.
If we wanted goals we wouldn't be in the Danny Wellbeck thread....
The same guy who has been our top scorer this season?
In terms of finishing and scoring goals, Chicharito was on a different planet to Welbeck who couldn't score in a full house brothel. You're acting like Welbeck was Lingard's less talented, less physically adept brother, while Chico was Van Nistelrooy's higher output brother.
He's miles better than those listed, christ. Morrison is on another level talent wise too but that's a different story. He is a classic decent player who came out of our academy, like as:
Gibson
Cleverley
Shawcross
M.Keane
M.James
R.Morrison
R.Brady
Zieler
...
An average one, for a mid table premier league club, like his former mates.
Yet scored a brace today. Crazy, huh?In terms of finishing and scoring goals, Chicharito was on a different planet to Welbeck who couldn't score in a full house brothel.
The OPWho the hell keeps making these god awful thread title changes here and the Spuds and Klopp thread etc.?
Love some sexy saturday-evening stats Welbeck (and Ibra) played for much more striving teams overall though.Boring Saturday evening, so I did some pointless comparision. Included just the players who were supposed to be his competition over last few years since he left. Mins per goal or assist:
- Welbeck, every 167.6 minutes(134 for Arsenal)
- Mata, every 162 minutes,
- Rashford, every 170 minutes,
- Martial, every 143 minutes,
- Lingard, every 231 minutes
- Mkhi, every 167 minutes(small sample though)
- Ibrahimovic, every 105 minutes.
Didn't include the likes of Depay or Young as it would be pointless.
Bit surprised with his ratio tbf, thought it would be worse considering he isn't really known for his end product. Even better for Arsenal.
He has a great football brain. He was really effective on the left side for us, linking up well with incisive passing. He could do most things, scoring regularly was not one of them.I don't see a clinical finisher in him though, big, fast and strong, sure, but he never struck me as having a fast enough football brain to take advantage of the raw abilities he has
They're both shite in fairness.Better than Lingard to be honest.
Stop the presses! A striker put the ball in the back of the net! I'm amazed, I tell ya!Yet scored a brace today. Crazy, huh?
Bilbao? You do know he's starting striker on a team scheduled to play in the round of sixteen of the CL in a few weeks, don't you?Fair enough your entitled to your opinion. He has never been good enough to be starter & if he was he is more alkin to someone like ll0rtene for bilba0
He was ok, wouldn't ever say he was great. Home grown player bias happens all the time.He has a great football brain. He was really effective on the left side for us, linking up well with incisive passing. He could do most things, scoring regularly was not one of them.
He links up play very well, works like a trojan and has great physical qualities. When presented with clear opportunities it often seems like he momentarily forgets how to control his limbs at the vital moment. He has a great football brain. He was really effective on the left side for us, linking up well with incisive passing. He could do most things, scoring regularly was not one of them.
The OP needs to stOP.The OP
The premium on England players alone should have ensured we got over £20 million for him.I'll find it annoying that we sold him to a major rival for just £16m (less than we paid for Rojo, similar to what we paid for Darmian) until we actually have a better team and finish above them again.
