He's grown into the game well. Probably been our best midfielder in the last 20 minutes. Which isn't saying a lot, but still...
Agreed. But can you tell how much our side would benefit if we had a young game controlling midfielder who could pass creatively from a CM position. Love Herrera but this type of class that Schweini has on the ball is something which could transform our side from turning those draws into wins next year if we can add a player like that to the first team.

No wonder he looked rusty at first. Grew into the game very well though I thought. The only one able to deliver a cross as well.

This place can be seriously embarrassing at times.
Pitch folks Out for a guy who's not played a match all season and people were jumping down his throat 10 mins into the game.
Ignoring the other 9 who started the game uselessly and with no excuses for that.
Been good after getting over that inevitable rust.

Look, Scweini is still rusty and he definitely looks like he has lost his legs. But cut him some slack. This has been his first real game in almost a year and he's still quality and has good crossing ability. He can do wonders, and we have lots of games this season and we'll need him if Carras gets injured or we need rotation

Doing better than I thought he would. Great cross for the goal.

He's still capable. We talk about how important 35 year old Carrick is yet write off Bastian as being past it.

Happy with him so far considering he was thought to be done a long time ago

Editing my own posts.

Yeah, love Ander too but I agree he's probably not good enough in that role as a long term "elite" option.

Think he's probably been our best player, him or Rojo.

feck me you're a mean bunch of bastards in here eh? Ha ha.

Thought he really grew into the game and was excellent in the last 20 of the half. Hardly surprising considering the guy has hardly played for a year.

Mean mean people, did not expect to come in and read posts like these past 2 pages after that half.

I see devilish is soooooo desperate to be proven right though.

Awful during the first 20 minutes but overall he has been one of our best players in the first half.

Such a shame that he hasn't been handling his fitness issues the way he has. He would have been such an asset if he was in a better shape and being able to feature in more games.

And there are still some fans who don't judge him on 20 minutes
This isn't just about performance or one game. It's a year and a half of a man who can't be bothered getting into shape to do his job.

Are you as harsh on Rooney? I hope so - he's equally an embarassment in terms of his physique.

I've not been a huge fan. Originally I was hoping he and Carrick could rotate and keep both healthy. Hasn't worked out that way, but it can't be denied that mentally he is still a class above most.

He's clearly a world class play, who is lacking match fitness. Need to rotate him in for Carrick. Rather than putting Fellaini in and forcing Herrera deep.

I think that he has been great considering the circumstances. Not given the ball away much, played some good passes forward etc etc. This is despite the fact that he's had an immobile Rooney and Fellaini ahead of him and a Smalling who can't pass behind him.

He's been good, what's the problem?

Great cross to Fellaini for the goal. Hes been calm and composed, exactly what, we need from him.

He would have no chance in the Premier League. This is his tempo against Championship bottom.
Surround him with right profile of teammates and he can easily play there....this summer when France and Germany played he was outplaying the likes of Pogba and Matuidi so im pretty sure he can handle himself against the likes of Jack Cork or Harry Arter.

Grew into the game and began to dictate play. Helps that Wigan has slightly lowered their tempo. Will struggle against teams who will look to press but Carrick is also the same.

Think he'll do just fine in a midfield with Herrera and Pogba in that sitting role Carrick plays.

After first few minutes I thought he won't last until half time, but he grew into the gamas and is playing well ever after first 10-15 minutes.

Will be a boost for the Europa League squad and help us perform better with a rested player for the following league game

Down south...somewhere
But I'll admit he's gotten better as the game has gone on. For me, he's good to have around the dressing room for the kids to be around him etc, but it is a very expensive piece of antique furniture we're carrying.
