So we've been 6th for 14 weeks in a row now! There needs to be a poll on which game week we finally get out of the 6th spot.Week 11 is when we were 6th for the first time.
And so are we! We might have a good squad but handling that many games is near impossible. There's no way it gets scheduled on the midweek (1 March) after the League Cup final, it's too soon. Although that midweek is the only time it could be scheduled until the 26th of April if we go through the rounds in the EL, don't even consider possible FA Cup replays at this point. And don't forget that if we beat Blackburn our away game at Southampton will automatically be postponed as well so it could be scheduled to be played even before the City game. As things stand, and we continue hypothetically to the EL final, there are only two days where those two PL fixtures (City away and Southampton away) could be rescheduled to, either the midweek of the 26th of April, or the midweek of the 17th of May.
Keeping with the assumption that we get to the EL final, if we beat Blackburn in the cup, go to the 6th round and then draw and have to play a replay of the quarter-final, the FA are truly fecked. There's no possible date they could reschedule that to, unless they're going to make us play Saturday/Tuesday/Thursday on one of the weeks.
Think 2nd is on the cards if we can keep our momentum. You are about to finish 3rd based on our and Spur's form.
A nice draw with Blackburn using your rotated team please. Push that City game into April. So much for this busy period we were told about. Rotate on Sunday and for the 2nd leg and we'll be bouncing into the cup final. Not exactly overloaded
I think Jose (like Fergie) knows the league like the back of his hand with which games we will drop points and which games we need to be at our best to win.So much for this busy period we were told about. Rotate on Sunday and for the 2nd leg and we'll be bouncing into the cup final. Not exactly overloaded
It's not this month that's the problem, it'll hit us hard in April/May when we hopefully have Europa League as well as rearranged City and Southampton away games (and maybe even more if we continue to progress in the FA Cup)So much for this busy period we were told about. Can't be as busy as this month though. Last week we were looking at 5 games in 15 days, now we'll probably play Mkhitaryan on Sunday for some match sharpness in preperation for a game a week away. It's not this month that's the problem, it'll hit us hard in April/May when we hopefully have Europa League as well as rearranged City and Southampton away games (and maybe even more if we continue to progress in the FA Cup)
Liverpool were overloaded with fixtures last season. We won feck all and finished 8th (not 6th, 8th). Oh how you laughed at all the competition we were 'in'.Only cowards are scared of fixtures.
Fixtures are a by-product of a successful season. If you have lots of fixtures to work around, it means you're doing something well.
Increasingly they seem to be used as a crutch for fans of teams who are failing and therefore don't have many games.
Why support or watch your team at all if you want to wish away half the season's games for some chance at entering a competition you have neither the ambition nor the wherewithal to compete in.
Nobody laughed at you being in competitions. We laughed at you losing games and fecking all those competitions up. A consistent laugh you have provided to us for years.Liverpool were overloaded with fixtures last season. We won feck all and finished 8th (not 6th, 8th). Oh how you laughed at all the competition we were 'in'.
We didn't have a squad that could successfully achieve its goals across four fronts last season, as opposed to 2000/01 for example when we did have a squad that was good enough to get everything we wanted.Liverpool were overloaded with fixtures last season. We won feck all and finished 8th (not 6th, 8th). Oh how you laughed at all the competition we were 'in'.
Our squad is better than Liverpools last season tho.Liverpool were overloaded with fixtures last season. We won feck all and finished 8th (not 6th, 8th). Oh how you laughed at all the competition we were 'in'.
Only cowards are scared of fixtures.

Absolutely fecking right on. Totally agree, and well said.Nobody laughed at you being in competitions. We laughed at you losing games and fecking all those competitions up. A consistent laugh you have provided to us for years.
We can only guess, but this United side look to have silverware in them (managed by a winner, side full of winners, very difficult to beat). That's what it's all about at the end of the day, winning silverware, not some losers competition so see who can play the fewest games in a season.
I'd be fecking pissed off if I could only watch this United team play once every 2 weeks.
Immense pressure ?Fatigue is not just physical tiredness. Professional footballers are to well trained for that. It's the overall package, the pressures, the consistency, etc.
Liverpool haven't been shit for ten games because they were just tired. They were under immense pressure and they cracked. You might not crack that much but believe me 'fatigue' will kick in.
Won everything you wanted? So you didn't want the premier league trophy then?We didn't have a squad that could successfully achieve its goals across four fronts last season, as opposed to 2000/01 for example when we did have a squad that was good enough to get everything we wanted.
United have a squad that should be able to cope based on what I've seen so far. They'll probably end up in the top four and with a trophy or two as well. They might run out of gas towards the end of the season but I think it's looking like they're going to end up happy with the way their season turns out.
You have superior commercial and match day revenue to everyone else in the league, you have spent record sums on players (wages and
transfer fees) under Moyes, LVG, and Mourinho. You are doing very well in the cups, granted, but in the league you are closer to 7th than 1st and not in the Champions League (but to be fair you wouldn't have a hope in hell of winning that anyway) so in real terms in the two main competitions you are way, way off of being a challenging force.
You were lucky yesterday with the refereeing decisions too.
He IS bitterWon everything you wanted? So you didn't want the premier league trophy then?
Sound a bit bitter mate.
Exactly. I don't understand why people are so worried about fixture congestion when we have big enough squad to cope and also few of our players haven't even play many mins this season.Only cowards are scared of fixtures.

Winning the league in that season wasn't a realistic goal for that Liverpool squad at the time. A trophy and Champions League football would have been the aim and we did better than that.Won everything you wanted? So you didn't want the premier league trophy then?
I think the financial muscle of United is key, rather than Liverpool's 'reckless' spending. United can afford to get transfers wrong whereas Liverpool have less room for error. Di Maria is the obvious case in point here.Honest assessment as l see it. Utd spend the sums they do in order to be winning the main trophies and to be up their with the elite of English and European football, but you are still a fair but off that as things stand.
Won't dent it you are in a better position for success, on and off the pitch, than us, by a long shot. Liverpool are a tier below united in virtually every respect but thats because of our reckless spending and transfer policy more than anything else.
More to do with us pushing on as a club on and off the field in the 90's as opposed to Liverpool who sat on their laurels and thought success was a prerequisite for the club, resulting in falling way behind us and still playing catch up.Honest assessment as l see it. Utd spend the sums they do in order to be winning the main trophies and to be up their with the elite of English and European football, but you are still a fair but off that as things stand.

He's also correct.He IS bitter
We're not way off challenging in the PL, that's nonsense. He's also correct.
Got me. The rest of his post is true, though. We're not way off challenging in the PL, that's nonsense.
Probably. Not confident about City.Think 2nd is on the cards if we can keep our momentum.
Used to be "will" not would.LFC are the most profligate club in Premier League history and only until recently had outspent United on transfer spending across the era. So much spending for so little gain.
Man City are a financially doped oil funded plaything which would collapse like a house of cards if one man got bored.
Neither set of fans have any business calling United out for spending income the club has earned legitimately.
But it's always the way once we start to do well. Like clockwork.
Would and will are both modal verbs.Used to be "will" not would.
Subtle differences mean a lot.
I remember that Kompany quoteWinning the league in that season wasn't a realistic goal for that Liverpool squad at the time. A trophy and Champions League football would have been the aim and we did better than that.
I would have loved to have won the league as well that season, but how often do quadruples happen outside of Vincent Kompany's mind?
Ok Poindexter.Would and will are both modal verbs.
The sentence "it will collapse if one man gets bored" is still applicable and interchangeable with the above.
You cant pull out the zzzzz card when you jumped in and brought the grammar up!Ok Poindexter.
The hope that the man will get bored and leave City in financial ruin is just that, a vain, fleeting hope.
In the meantime we'll see you in a few weeks when the talking will stop.

City and Liverpool fans in here are acting pathetic.
The fact is, a few months back both of them thought they were challenging for a title and United were struggling. Now they're both in a 5 way race for top 4 with United looking dominant and cruising in Europe on our way to Wembley, and they're scared, and rightly so, because if either one of those clubs missed out on CL football it will (or 'would' @Gentleman Jim ) seriously dent their pulling power. They won't be signing players like Pogba, Zlatan or ADM without CL football like we do.
In Liverpool's case, without CL footy, and in a league with United, Chelsea, Arse, Spuds and City, they're at best the 6th most desirable destination for players...
Think of it like that and start to see Klopp and Guardiola are so increasingly twitchy!
