His playing style is perfect for a 433 imo. Where you need width in that formation thats literally his main game so I think it would suit him more in that position, sort of what Neymar does for Barca except at an obviously lesser level.
That's not how a normal 4-3-3 works at all mate. The natural width comes form the fullbacks with the two wide men upfront always cutting inside to play as inside forwards. That's why in all the top clubs the wide forwards are "inverted" with left-footers on the right and right-footers on the left

- Barca with Neymar, Suarez, Messi
- Juve with Mandzukic, Higuain and Dybala
- Bayern with Ribery, Lewa and Robben
- Real with Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale

In all these teams the players surrounding the striker are actually cutting inside almost always. Hardly ever will they race down the touchline to put a cross in the box. That's the job of players like Alba, Dani Alves, Carvajal, Marcelo, Alex Sandro etc.

I'm not saying that a natural wide man up front could not work in a 4-3-3, I'm not a coaching expert. I'm just saying that if all the top teams play with inverted forwards there must be something in it.

Mourinho took Pandev on a free. He ticked the box for both work ethic and his selfless nature. He served a purposed for Mourinho - particularly in the CL final.

Easy to understand why Mourinho would want someone like Perisic.
Bit like Willian.

and Lyon got spanked by Ajax who finished behind Feyenoord in their own league.

which means: Roma is stronger than Napoli, Lyon is stronger than both of them because they're stronger than Roma, and Ajax is stronger than all three of them because they are stronger than Lyon. they are all weaker than Feyenoord though, because Feyenoord is stronger than Ajax. would you agree with that?
Can I get back to you, I´m still working out how the 13th placed team in Belgium can qualify for the EuroLeague qualifying by winning the 2nd tier loser´s bracket play-offs via away goal penalties.

He'll have a nice welcome that's for sure. At least Fellaini will be happy, he won't be blamed for everything.

I believe Perisic got 1 goal and 3 assists against Udinese today. On form he's a cracking player, but he's fairly inconsistent. He's also primarily a LW and we're stacked there. So unless we plan on either playing him as a RW or playing Martial as a striker coming in for Rashford (alongside say Griezmann), I don't see much point in signing him.

We don't have a single LW, or one if you count Martial.

I don't see anyone taking Fellaini's spot in that regard, but Perisic could get himself a sado masochistic **** on the Caf like Fellaini has.

He'll love the rainy weather in Manchester I think.:angel:

We're not, though, are we?

Specialist left wingers we've only got Martial, and even he sees himself as a forward.

Yes, Mkhitaryan, Lingard and Rashford all play there, but neither are left wingers.

Mkhitaryan was superb on the right for Dortmund.

Rashford, like this season, will be played on the left, right and uptop.

Lingard is arguably better on the right.

Hopefully he performs if we sign him.

Not a big fan of him and think we could do better.

A proper winger. I'm all for it.

Besides, if Jose and Conte want him he can't be that bad.

If he signs, Martial is clearly in trouble. I'd imagine Perisic would play on the right and Mkhitaryan would move left. Also depends on what formation Jose has in mind.

Either way, wouldn't mind him. Jose knows what players he needs to go to war with.

Why? Perisic has played mostly on the left and Mkhitaryan mostly on the right previously.

Thought he was supposed to be shite? Ran the show today.
Think the term is inconsistent. Last game of the season was a goalfest in Serie A:

We're still way more stacked on the left wing than we are on the right. Martial is arguably better on the left than he is centrally, Miki and Lingard are better on the left than the right (though Miki is more of a CAM) and Rashford's secondary position is on the left as well. I'd much prefer us buying a pacy RW than a LW as currently we literally have no real RW.

Since when? Mkhitaryan has been at his best on the right -- played most of his football there for Dortmund too. Likewise for Lingard, who too is probably at his best through the middle. We don't have a single genuine winger.

If he was our only signing, it might be worth getting peeved about. But it looks like squad building, something we're in need of.

Does he? I don't watch Inter. Either way, Tony is in trouble with added competition and needs to step up.

I don't mind this signing because every elite club playing CL football has multiple strong options in their attack (whether it's starting 11 or on the bench). If we can get him at a good price I'm all for it.

I have complete faith in Mourinho's ability to bring in the right players, and if Jose thinks Perisic is one of those players, I'll trust his judgement ahead of the caf experts who think otherwise.

Yeah he does. I agree Martial is in trouble though. Mourinho isn't one for rotating much in an ideal world either. Last season he did a fair bit because of the injuries and performances of some of our players so if Perisic gets to a good start, Martial probably won't get much of a look in.

Martial needs added competition. He is like what? 21? We shouldn't expect instantaneous progress with him and having a guy like Perisic( if at the right price) would provide the necessary cover for him.

After watching (half of) 1 YouTube video that had some pleasing trance type music, I have decided he's

a) not good enough
b) too old
c) overpriced

Just play Martial on the left
