Somebody has been arrested, but who knows if it's the driver amidst all this chaos.
We police by consent. The police only police us, for as long as they have the support to do so.
In the same way, if we consent to lose some liberties to save liberty and liberal ideals, then that's a choice we can make.
It'll never be eradicated, we can only minimise the effects and causes which is sickening.
Am travelling from city to blackheath and have seen about 20 police cars rushing in the opposite direction.

This is the only solution to this problem, concrete blocks won't stop them they just find other streets or other methods. Terrorism in European City's are getting out of hand and it's start to take off the gloves and stop these people.
I have a feeling the arrests and heightened police efforts following Manchester have spooked certain groups who have been plotting terror acts and accelerated their plans in fear of being thwarted. Hopefully the police will respond in kind and shut down the cells as quickly as they did in Manchester.

Unfortunately I don't think we can maintain personal liberty at today's level and combat this problem, at least not in the short term.

To clarrify not all muslims, only those that evidently hold militant stances against our society. Yes their freedom of speech and liberal rights should be impeded for the greater good.

I hope the gunfire was from police. BBC saying they arrested 1 person, so gunfire hopefully is them neutralising the scumbag.
Wise words. These people are the biggest threat to our liberty and our ideals. Not the police and the governments who are trying to stop them.
Did something happen at the Shard? Or because it is near London Bridge it became part of the original story?
Wasn't the Manchester Bomber reported and on watchlists? If he was imprisoned prior to the events it never would have happened.

Report on Sky News say that there's no confirmed incident at the Shard and that it could all be the one incident.
Good chance of the gunfire being the police?
The van thing happened, not sure either the stabbings or shootings have been confirmed yet.

BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was on the bridge at the time of the incident, said the van was driven by a man and was "probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour".
About five people were being treated for injuries after the vehicle mounted the pavement and hit them, she said.
She said the van, which was travelling from the direction of central London, headed towards the south side of the river.
Ms Jones later reported seeing a man being arrested by police. She said he was handcuffed and had his shirt off.

It looks like they've driven the van into the crowd, got out and started stabbing people and the shooting could be the police firing shots as the suspect had a knife and they detained the guy.
Important to note its what witnesses are claiming they saw, but that timeline seems the most logical if all those things happened.
Witnesses see contradictory things when stuff like this happens, so some stuff turns out to be false.
looking at Sky Live , it looks like the Police are being suited up in riot gear.

- Witnesses said a white van veered off the road on London Bridge and hit people
- Witness said she saw three people with what appeared to be their throats cut
Was just about to say this, with it being a B&Q van as well rather than a plain rental or whatever.
Did that also result in people being stabbed and gunfire?
also totally impractical without many many innocents being arrested.
Where does one draw the line about what constitutes a threat?
