It's good to see the Madrid fans on here rate him so highly. Tells you a lot to be honest.

I liked him at Madrid this year but thought he was rubbish at Euros but can't judge him solely on that.
Is that more to do with the emotional attachment of losing an academy player though? When Welbeck left it us there was a fair few including myself who did feel a sad.

I'm still fairly underwhelmed by it, but maybe he can be our Costa/Drogba. A goalscoring record that is decent, but nothing special, yet he feels very important to the team. We'll see how it goes, but yeah, my expectations aren't too high for him.

We really shouldn't get hung up on the price. We are going to start seeing players going for equally as obscene fees, probably as soon as this summer.
Think of the price as roughly £12.8m a year for 5 years. Doesn't sound too bad that way. It's less than we're paying on Rooney's wages.

I wonder if Borja Mayoral will take his place (a bit risky after his awful loan) or we will buy some top striker. I can´t see Mbappe coming this year
If were not getting a replacement for Morata in a Chicharito type of striker to fill in then that's proabably what the club will do. If it was up to me I'll buy someone like Carlos Vela to fill our bench roster and rotate him in the forward positions. So back on topic if we're not buying anyone new this wouldn't be so much of a problem if we dropped the BBC playing every single match they're available or convincing Morata at last minute to stay with the promise of a more prominent role which would be great for us but if I was him I would go to Manchester despite not being in a strong position currently. They offer him a lot more opportunities and is a complete different challenge that can only improve him as a player; he's tall, strong, a good header and yet a technical accomplished player, not to the degree of someone like Benzema but a lot better of what you expect from someone his height.

Mourinho debuted him so I assume he has his trust, so from Morata's perspective this is a very good opportunity, nothing like we're pushing him out of the team like some of here think. This is a complete different situation of the Di María or Özil sagas, Morata is highly rated here and he only wants to play more minutes

He's quick and keeps it simple, his link up play could excel along with Rashford. He's played at the highest level so OT stage shouldn't bother him. He's only 24 and still has a lot to learn. Not a fan of him but I will back whoever comes to this club.
Watching that video has only made me realise how useless we are at crossing, watching great crosses come in from every part of of the pitch from different players what a,what a sight. Right now what pwe have are wingers who can't cross, fullbacks who can't cross only Herrera and Pogs can be relied on to give good crosses. If our service does not improve drastically next season Morata will be one frustrated player

Deal done according to Onda cero 73 million euros, medical on monday.
That's a lot of money but he is one of the strikers young and talented enough to justify the gamble.

Dnt understand all the negativity around Morata. Yes, he is not what u call top-bracket yet but if you have seen him play then you will know that he is easily in top 5-7 strikers in Europe. Being a second choice is not because he is not capable to lead the line, its because Madrid is CR7 place and he likes playing with Benzema.

If you have seen Madrid play this season, then you would notice that CR7 is almost playing as a striker. Benzema makes the run to vacate the striker position and takes a defender with him and that makes space available to CR7 to run into. Morata doesn't do that. He takes up that space. Also, Benz is better when it comes it creating chances for CR7, specially from left hand side of attack. And thats why my friends, Benz starts ahead of Morata. But, I am pretty sure if this was CR7 of 4-5 years ago, when he was playing as winger, creating as many chances as scoring, then Morata would have been the first choice.

When Zizou played second choice team to rest the stars, Morata has been brilliant. He even came from bench to save Madrid on more than few occasions. Real are the team to win most points from loosing positions(comebacks) in la-liga this season and Morata has a big hand to play in that. Even yesterday in friendly against Colombia, Morata scored a fantastic header to equalize.

If Real are asking 60m for him, I wldnt say its a bad deal considering VVD was quoted at 70m. Yes, many players have come with reputation and big money and failed in EPL, but then you take that chance with each transfer.

So my fellow reds, transfer window has not even opened yet. Have some faith in Jose and enjoy other sports till the start of season. French Open has been good, F1 is competitive again after 5-6 years. So chillllllll and enjoy the summer :):):)
Threadban this guy. He talks sense :lol:

No-one was really talking about Welbeck's ability though. The Madrid fans on here are upset not only because of his Madrid ties but also because of his ability/potential.

This is like groundhog day with everyone repeating the same stats from good/bad perspectives ad nauseam.

He clearly is a talented player but it's difficult to gage his level through stats. That alone justifies questioning the fees quoted but, ultimately, it is the striker the boss wants.

He has managed him before, he has a proven chemistry from that past experience (rather important with JM in particular) and he trusts he will deliver.

No one on here wants to win and sort our issues more than Mourinho. No one. He isn't Moyes. He wants to win everything and reckons Morata is his man, period.

I also had my favourites and preferences but, much like everyone on here, don't have the first hand knowledge of what JM plans to do and how he wants to play.

José knows both sides of the issue better and this is his decision. Let's hope it works.

Why exactly are people so negative about him? What what I have seen off Youtube videos, he has pace, skills and goal scoring abilities. What are his major weaknesses that are putting people off? Maybe its just that he isn't in the first XI of RM. You need to remember that Ribery and Robben were also Madrid cast-offs who eventually key to a CL-winning team. So this is not a good reason to not want him here.

Should give Martial back the 9 for the laugh. Then take it off him again when Ibra rejoins in January.

Really though he'll get 7, 9 will stay empty of the off chance Ibra re signs.

Yes. If Mou can get him to make the final leap he'll become one of the 6-8 best players in the world. Remember peak Torres? He'll be better than that
Mods, check hos IP, I bet this is Florentino himself.

:D Oh come on, He valued loyalty this year. It does not mean its over.
He valued being a pussy. "You can't lose what you don't put in middle, but you can't win much either."

I just think 3 strikers, 2 of which are really young and still unproven to score a hat-full of goals and the other is also unproven (in England) is very risky. If we are going to re-sign Ibra in January (which I think we will) then I'm happy with that, but if we're not, we need another striker.

Ideally, we need 2 strikers, a winger, a midfielder and a centre back imo.
Ok fair enough. I would just prefer someone with a little more quality or his best years ahead of him.

Hope Darmian can show him some nice Italian pasta or pizza restaurants, so he can feel like home.

I agree, but the reason I'm suggesting Defoe is that I think he will undoubtedly be willing to sit on the bench whereas others might not.
