You just know Ronaldo wherever he may be, is currently laughing whilst simulating a fisherman hooking a big fish. ffs

The article from that brief summary at the bottom has nothing different at all, but Duncan Castles has put his name on that. I still refuse to believe it as anything more than Mendes putting this stuff out there for Ronaldo to retain power in this show of balls between him and Madrid.

I'm talking 3 years at the level he is at now. Like I said though, he is much better than Zlatan, and we are all more than happy with him last season. So if we were to get 3 years at the level he is at now, and another 2 at a reduced level on par with Zlatan, then it wouldn't be that bad would it?
I was happy with Zlatan but he was for free wasn't he? You could be excused for thinking van Persie might continue to win matches for years to come, but at that age the end can come very quickly. 130 mil. in the market can consolidate us for a long time rather than placing all our eggs in one 33 year old basket.

Ah feck me, I can't get the vision of Pogba linking up with Ronaldo out of my head.
I know it will not happen but I would enjoy the next 2/3 seasons more than most others due to the shit talking from rival fans.

Think if it was just a case of wanting Madrid to pay his tax, this likely wouldnt have blown up in the press as it has. It would have been agreed behind doors because I can't see real wanting to loose him over 13-15 million. Even if it did get out like this to the press it would have been quickly denied by a higher up in Madrid or Ronaldo himself.

There's Definitely something more going on behind the scenes than money- either wanting Madrid to take the blame for the tax evasion or wanting their political influence to get off the charge.

Could be something so simple as not feeling supported by Madrid as much as he should be, which I could easily believe especially with Mendes trying to sell Ronaldo that story.

The problem I see with how close to 2 years they went with Messi is how can they not go longer with Ronaldoso
Don't see why not, I don't think the sentence is proportional to the amount of money involved, but more likely the seriousness of the specific crime, schemes involved, degree of culpability, extenuating circumstances, etc. If they're comparable, most likely the result would be the same, i.e., suspended sentence.

Also, I have it on good source that Porto isn't a likely destination for him. That's one less club for you to worry about.

Must not get sucked in.

It would be great to see our rival fans in fear again.

And imagine how Ronaldo could add to his incredible career. The main man to fire United back to the Premier League title post-SAF.

I just don't see him leaving.

Ronaldo has brought the transfer window to a standstill, the journos don't have time to make up any transfer bullshit as they are all writing about his latest melodrama, it's telling how the tweets have been barely a drip all day.

What a strange choice of pic.

I still think he just wants Madrid to come out strong and get the tax thing settled. He wants to be declared innocent for his reputation, it's not solely about the money he'd lose. I don't know if Madrid have that type of power though.

That said, Ronaldo is like a girlfriend who always needs attention. He will act out and say stupid things he doesn't mean in order for you to show them how much you love them. I still think he's just throwing a hissy fit and Madrid will fix it enough to keep him.

I'm desperately trying not to get suckered in because I've seen this all too many times before. I am 99.99% certain that in July I'll be reading how the differences have been patched up and Ronaldo is 100% committed to the Real cause, loves the club and can't wait for another season under Zizou.

That 00.01% though, right?

Yeah

I always get a kit every season and I've no clue which player to get this summer.

Ronaldo signed would make that decision very easy.

This thread is going to be funny when the inevitable is announced.

Welcome to Manchester reception committee
I thought the tax bill had been paid already and that wasn't the issue?

@jojojo?
What Ronaldo/Mendes say is the tax bill has been paid. But it was paid late and it included the sale of his image rights to Peter Lim's company. He paid the "Beckham Law" 25% tax on the Lim deal as a 2014 payment, even though it was for image rights earnings in 2015 and beyond - earnings that would have been taxed at closer to 50% if he hadn't done that contract.

If the Lim contract stands up in court then the tax has been paid and the argument is about the level of fine involved in late disclosure, and whether it represented an intent to defraud.

Tax offices usually do deals, based on full disclosure and fines, unless they find contract fabrication etc in which case they may try to pursue it in court. Maybe the Sun have been told Madrid will try and broker (and pay for) a deal. More likely the Sun are guessing, based on what Mendes wants Madrid to do.

you might be right.... I see some media outlets reporting 6 years minimum

here's an interesting article that suggest he would likely get less than 2 years despite the larger figure and 3 year tax evasion

https://www.si.com/planet-futbol/20...ud-spain-beckham-law-real-madrid-messi-neymar

in a world where Harry Redknapps dog is more wealthy than I will ever be the scales of justice tip in favour of those who can afford it
That article is a good summary of what we know (or think we know) so far - most of which comes from the wikileaks papers rather than the tax office themselves.
