Congrats Die Mannschaft!
Sent your B team over but still won the cup ahead of Chile and Portugal A Team.
Argentina and Brazil must be watching this in glee, finally someone beat Chile in a cup final.

VAR is an improvement. Of course it is needed.
Tell yourself that in a few years. However did the sport manage to stay basically the same since the 1800s?
Why is it needed.

Wow, that was a typical Germany performance, right there. They never really looked that unsettled even though Chile had more chances than them.

Defensively, they were near perfect, whilst going forward, their counterattacks were dangerous whenever they could execute them. The fact that they've been this consistent in international tournaments since 1950 is insane, to say the least.

Chile haven't scored in a final since the 70's? is that true?
At least they go to finals, others score a lot of goals and don't make even semifinals, guess what, tournament football.

Julian Draxler is as charismatic as a door, straight from the Götze school of super-polished phrase feeding.

A big part of that is their mentality. It's passed down through the generations it seems.

That probably sounds worse than it actually is depending on how many finals they've actually been in. But, this is the third final in a row -- Copa America x 2, this -- that they haven't scored in.
Yeah you're right. The way it was said, I assumed they were in more finals. It's 4 finals since 1979 that they haven't scored in. 5 including the pan american games.

Nah, he had an authentic moment when he countered the interviewer's stupid question of what he could take home from this tournament with 'the cup' :D

Not sure "needed" is the right term so much as "desirable". Technology is available to allow better decisions to be made. Willfully refusing to take advantage of that would be perverse.

The issue then becomes incorporating that technoloy in the most efficient way possible and it's pretty clear from this tournament that football has some way to go in figuring out a way to do that. That isn't an argument against the use of video technology itself though.

They should just stop the clock as soon as the ref wants the video checked. That would at least keep the OT-minutes from going bonkers.

As much as this makes sense, I can't see this happening as it will just become like basketball and players might use this to abuse the system.

To be fair it is amazing that Chile get to these finals with their team.

I thought this was for Chile to win but I made the mistake of underrating Germany U-21 B team.

In all seriousness they were the better team this tournament who displayed the better football, Chile puts a lot of effort and play on the edge but Germany delivered the football today.

Actually I think Chile is not at the same level they were under Sampaoli imo.

Chile didn't score a single goal in the 3 finals they played before the penalty shootouts. That's a crazy stat.

Says you. Oh wait, 3rd placing! Congrats! :D
Not worried about that genius, repeat to me, what has your team won, unless you are German of course, say to me, what is your nationality?

Why are you so concerned about my nationality and what has my nationality gotta do with this? I remember you saying my nationality has nothing to do with the subject in your previous posts yet you like to bring this up. Are you implying that anyone who isn't German here or have hardly won anything with their national team has no right to comment? We are all football fans at the end of the day and this is a public forum for everyone to post their thoughts freely. Now this shows how arrogant, xenophobic and small time you are. Stop being so precious over your tweeny Portugal because I actually like our Portuguese residents here and you are starting to become the Glaston of Portugal.

So, Germany goes there with the 2nd team and win the whole thing. Does that make them big favorites for Russia 2018 or what?
Nah, it's 2018, 12 years after 2006. We're losing the in the final, that means Germany won't win it either

Calm down, unless you are very sensitive, no problem at all, unless of course you come with the type of posts of the other day, and no intention of becoming the Portuguese Glaston, xenophobic is out of touch here mate, unless you think I am the portuguese version of Farage.

Germany will rightly be favorites going into the World Cup, but I tend to think it's almost impossible to defend the World Cup, so I expect the winner to come out of France, Spain and Brazil. I also think Italy have a good chance.

Tournaments are always decided by small things and individual moments of greatness or shame. Like Diaz' feck up today. Without that, I don't believe we would have won.

Unless you make 1970 + 12 = 1982 = World Champion, guess who were the finalists.
