It's usually up a few minutes after its finished airing on itv2+1.anyone else not able to watch it on itv hub?
Yeah, Amber's a dick, and I was annoyed he just went back to what he knew. I would have cracked on with Danielle, she seemed to have some brains between her ears.I can't help but be disappointed with Kem getting back with Amber. Went straight back to the 'hummus with the olive in it' the first chance he got, and back to feeling like crap anytime a new bloke walks in. I had high hopes for him whilst he was in the second villa.
The world is filled with horror right now, and winding down with a beer and watching car crash TV is genuinely quite fun. People take this kind of stuff too seriously and immediately judge others for watching it, but it's actually a pretty good watch once you get to know everyone. My wife is always watching this and i feel i should start now an old mate of mine has joined (Jamie). Is it genuinely any good or another one of those hate yourself for being addicted to it type shows?
Thanks for the summary. Yes, Jamie is pretty switched on although no idea how he will come across on the show. The world is filled with horror right now, and winding down with a beer and watching car crash TV is genuinely quite fun. Here's your quick guide to the current tenants to get you up to speed:
Alex (bit dull) & Montana (funny, intelligent, hot, squint)
Chris (seemed like a cock, but is actually alright) & Oliva (Psycho, unstable, petulant, total cnut)
Marcel (formerly in Blazin' Squad, nice guy, loyal) & Gabby (decent banter, bit insecure)
Jonny (cockney cnut, thick) & Tyla (essex loudmouth, thick)
Kem (cockney, thick, kind at heart) & Amber (immature, strange)
Theo (new guy, olympic athlete, ruffling feathers)
Camilla (posh, reserved, intelligent, very coy which is actually annoying)
Jamie (comes across well, interested in Camilla, seems to have some brains)
Great summary and agree with your opening paragraph, at the end of the day I think at least some of them want to find love and obviously the money is a nice bonus but it's completely different to the absolute shite that is big brother, where everyone is just a twat looking for fame by being a twat. The world is filled with horror right now, and winding down with a beer and watching car crash TV is genuinely quite fun. I actually kinda felt bad for Theo. He was always going to upset someone regardless of who he picked. Much like the new girl, who now looks like she will be singled out until she is booted later this week no doubt.Jonny is such a mug, glad Theo has just tried to piss all over his boring, cockney, shitty parade. Cnut.
Yeah, she seems nice, and like she said, she had to pick someone. Amber is just a boot. Amber and Olivia form such a cnuty clique.I actually kinda felt bad for Theo. He was always going to upset someone regardless of who he picked. Much like the new girl, who now looks like she will be singled out until she is booted later this week no doubt.
Theo actually told Jonny that he was going to talk to Tyla before he spoke to her. The footage of it aired on the show. And Montana told to him to speak to the boys first after he had told her he wanted to get to know her.Nah, I thought feo was a dick, Mon told him to talk to the guys first which he should've done but he obviously didn't, can't stand the pillock.
We don't, it's just a bit of fun car crash TV. You need to relax. Don't like it? Don't watch it.On a two week business trip at the moment, and in the hotel I watched one episode of this, well part of it before falling asleep. I don't understand how people can take this shit serious. The fecking slags on this show are so made up with so much John Lewis shit on their faces and false just about everything. The guys are such babies I was amazed how stupid the current generation of youngsters are. No wonder most voted for Corbyn.
Anyone who likes this shit.
Feck you!
Good advice. But seriously, how can people be this screwed up?We don't, it's just a bit of fun car crash TV. You need to relax. Don't like it? Don't watch it.
The speed that they form and get attached to their relationships is pretty strange I must admit. I think that when they split up in the show, most of the tears may be due to the fact they have less of a chance to win the £50,000 prize at the end.Good advice. But seriously, how can people be this screwed up?
Back when I was chasing chicks when on holiday, you chatted them up, and had some fun, but realised relationships would be hard post holiday.
Can't believe I saw a dickhead guy crying over a chick he hadn't known 5 minutes.
Ah there's a 50k reward? The speed that they form and get attached to their relationships is pretty strange I must admit. I think that when they split up in the show, most of the tears may be due to the fact they have less of a chance to win the £50,000 prize at the end.
Essentially at the end of the 7 weeks, it goes to a public vote to vote for the best couple. Whoever wins that gets 50k. The rest? Become Z-list celebrities for 6 months before disappearing altogether, only to make a spectacular comeback with a dodgy porn tape.Ah there's a 50k reward?
What's this for exactly?
It's not strange, how many women have you dated on a 24/7 basis, what's the norm, say two dates per week, things are bound to escalate quicker than the outside world. The speed that they form and get attached to their relationships is pretty strange I must admit. I went on holiday a few years ago with a girl I'd never met before. After 4 days together 24/7 I was absolutely in love with her. It's easy to see how these guys would be the same! It's not strange, how many women have you dated on a 24/7 basis, what's the norm, say two dates per week, things are bound to escalate quicker than the outside world.
i don't understand how that can be possible. You wouldn't even know her properly within 4 days. Must have been mostly physical attraction.I went on holiday a few years ago with a girl I'd never met before. After 4 days together 24/7 I was absolutely in love with her. It's easy to see how these guys would be the same!
People do take the show seriously. Lots of people. Is this person not taking it seriously? Sounds pretty fecking serious to me.Not sure whats more stupid, thinking people take this show seriously or coming to the conclusion that the contestants on the show are some how a representative cross section of the current generation of youngsters.
If people really think that shows like this don't contribute to the particularly marked increased in female narcissim then they're simply wrong. If they don't care, then they're contributing to that societal degradation. The compelling epidemiological evidence comes from The Narcissism Epidemic, in which the American academics Jean Twenge and Keith Campbell found that narcissistic personality traits rose just as fast as obesity from the 1980s to the present, with the shift in women particularly marked. Scores have risen faster since the turn of this century.
Campbell is also the author of a meta-analysis of three cohort studies that found increases over the generations in the Rosenberg self-esteem scale among US middle school, high school and college students in the two decades to 2008. By 2008, a score of 40 (perfect self-esteem) was the modal response of college students, chosen by 18% of participants; 51% scored 35 or over. At this point, the test has to change or the measurement has to stop: the self-esteem of nearly one in five college students could not get any higher.
One study, sponsored by the US National Institutes of Health, looks at lifetime prevalence: you’d expect any trait to become more pronounced over time, since people who have lived longer have more time to develop it. In fact, narcissistic traits afflict almost 10% of people in their 20s, compared with 3% of people in their 60s. Older people have more formed personalities and are less influenced by socio-cultural pressures; when they were young, these pressures simply didn’t exist.
Jesus and there I was thinking I was just enjoying looking at good looking women.People do take the show seriously. Lots of people. Is this person not taking it seriously? Sounds pretty fecking serious to me.
This kind of thing shapes how people view the world and themselves, rightly or wrongly. That is taking it seriously. Taking it seriously isn't just about whether or not you get invested in the people, believe their motivations or buy into the contrived narratives.
Of course, the simple answer is to tell people that do take it seriously - in that context - to simply get out in the world, speak to people and form their own views on beauty, love, etc. from real life experiences...but dealing with our complex neuroses isn't simple. Particularly when you're inundated with this kind of content.
The existence of things like this is damaging to society on a whole host of levels. The idea that its popularity and its obviously silly concept are enough of a justification for its existence is just wrong. Pyschologically this has an impact on people, especially people with limited life experience (i.e. teenagers) or people who live in a media bubble (i.e. a significant portion of the last 2-3 generations). It's a significant part of the reason we have things like the "narcissism epidemic".

The fact that people don't find the misogyny or voyeriusm as concerning should say a lot. For voyeurism, read:Jesus and there I was thinking I was just enjoying looking at good looking women.
Often it's the things that seem harmless that do the most damage long-term. The only reason we can't see that immediately is because it has become normalised by threads like this.Seems like all the girls are going to stay faithful so far which is boring as feck.
It's an entertainment programme not life advice. Drama is enjoyable to watch. The fact that people don't find the misogyny or voyeriusm as concerning should say a lot. For voyeurism, read:
Can't disagree with any of that tbh.People do take the show seriously. Lots of people. Is this person not taking it seriously? Sounds pretty fecking serious to me.

The entertainment itself is not necessarily the issue. The issue is people's reaction to it. The things people are saying in here is real life. This is real people saying sexist, voyeuristic things, hoping for some morally disgusting things to happen despite widespread acknowledgement that young, impressionable people watch it, and seeing those kinds of views become normalised in real time. This Vidic Sand kid wasn't talking about that. He's talking about the viewers in here being overly invested in the characters on the show. He wasn't commenting on anything deeper than that, after all he said he's only watched part of an episode.People do take the show seriously. Lots of people. Is this person not taking it seriously? Olivia is a slag
Two posts in succession just on this page.Feck off Olivia you crazy, fake-boobed hag. She does my head in.
I haven't watched any of it and haven't read any more about it than that blog post, which was shared by a friend on Facebook in total agreement with the sentiment, and the posts in this thread. I think the posts in this thread from its fans really says all you need to know. The reasons the folk on here watch it and talk about it are pretty clear to see. This Vidic Sand kid wasn't talking about that. He's talking about the viewers in here being overly invested in the characters on the show. He wasn't commenting on anything deeper than that, after all he said he's only watched part of an episode.
Thats not to say that I disagree with the rest of your post but it does sound like you have made some assumptions about the show and lumped it in together with shows like Towie, which really is a show full of fake boobs, fake asses, fake faces and fake characters presented as real life, and you have applied the same level of criticism to it.
On the Gabby article goes, Twitter (a place usually full of the most abhorrent of opinions) collectively came out in support of her (both men and women) and regularly criticise the behavior the better looking girls in there. I think you'd be surprised by the Love Island twitter tag immediately post show, I know I have. Its also worth noting that the girls who have conducted themselves the best (Camilla, Gabby and Montana) are the favorites on the show.
I haven't actually watched it. As much down to the fact that I've been going out a lot lately, but saying that, I haven't had any desire to watch it really.I bet @Jippy watches this show too.
