Afonso Alves: Tore it up in Holland, had a bit of hype behind him before absolutely flopping in England then seemed to disappear without a trace.

Ganso: Was on the crest of a wave and should have gone on to greater things. Injuries ruined him and now he's an afterthought.

Fabio Paim: Touted as a huge talent, fell off the proverbial cliff.

Sergi Rebrov: So forgotten about, I had to Wiki him as the partner of Shevchenko who was fantastic until he lift Dynamo Kiev because I couldn't remember his name.
He was all hype as a youngster but done nothing whatsoever at senior level.

Lee Martin that came through our academy.
Nathan Ellington, West Ham.
Henri Camara, Wigan.
Michael Ball, played at City and stamped on Ronnie.
Pape Bouba Diop, nicknamed 'The Wardrobe' at Fulham.
Andy Johnson, ex England international played at Fulham too.
Camorenesi (sp?) Think he played for A.C. Milan
Oliver Bierhoff

Don't think Ellington ever played for West Ham, but himself and Jason Roberts were a fantastic strike force for Wigan outside of the PL.

Oliver Bernard. Saw his name today.
I saw him play in a charity match organised by Ken Monkou about 18 months ago. He looked like he was wearing a fat suit he was that big. He could only manage about 10 minutes and didn't move from the centre circle.

I go back a bit and remember players from sensible world of soccer 96-97, as well as the old CM.

Names that spring to mind:

Daniel Fonseca - he always springs to mind as he was so highly rated in SWOS, yet I never saw him play
Stephane Chapuisat
John Salako
Peter Ndlovu
Faustino Asprilla
David Hirst - Perennially linked to us back in the day.
Florin Radiciou
Zvonimir Boban - Was at one time my favourite player outside of United
Nadal 'the beast' - often linked to us
Ariel Ortega

Milan Jovanovic

So forgettable that I forgot his name and then had to go through a handful of "worst Liverpool players ever" before even seeing him mentioned

Somen Tchoyi, scored at Old Trafford when we drew 2-2 at home to West Brom. Van der Sar dropped a cross onto his head.

Edit: Also, Roque Junior. Didn't he tip up at Bolton at one point?
