He can cross a ball that's for sure. Valencia is machine but lacks the delivery aspect. Would be nice to have Young on one of the sides for a lot of the games this season with Lukaku in the middle. The other thing Young is not afraid to do is deliver the early ball - something none of our fullbacks or wide players do right now. Be nice if he can stay fit and give Mourinho another good alternative from out wide.

I think Ashley's display on Tuesday, especially the quality of his crosses means he deserves a chance against Everton. Not holding my breath though, Young's contracts up soon and Jose although praising Ashley, doesn't seem too keen to renew it.

When Fergie first bought Ashley I thought he would play him down the middle, because every time Villa did that against us Young 'tore us to pieces'. However can't remember Fergie ever playing him there it was always on the wing, only LvG played him centrally and that was only once as a stop gap, but Ashley had lost his 'killer' pace by then.

You can never underestimate just how valuable it is to have a player that can play in a number of positions and always gives 100% in a squad. He's not a starter, nor should he even be a rotation in my eyes but if his legs hold up this season i'd be totally behind him getting another 12 month contract.

I'd be more inclined to play Young against teams who can't hurt us on the flanks and decide to park the bus because of his crossing. Everton have Mirallas and Calvert who can exploit his defensive game.

Young at full back makes sense in the games we know we should win comfortably. Valencia starts all league games and important Champions league games but Young can have a free hit at the cups.

He can more than hold his own up against the better teams in my opinion.

I'd give him a run out against Everton. In one game he's contributed just about as much in attack as Valencia has this season. Give him a chance to show what he can do defensively against a better team.

We have so little width and pace on the right. Not saying Young is the answer but his end product is better so I'd give him a shot.

I'd give him a run at left back and play Valencia on Right back. They are similar players which I personally value highly. They're both strong, they'll run for days, they'll support the attack, and they aren't afraid to take someone on (as they're both old wide midfielders).

Blind is a comfortable choice at Left Back as he's solid, good at passing, great touch... but I'd like more. I'd frankly like a player like Danny Rose which I've rated highly for 3 years now. I'm still hoping Shaw comes good.

But for me, Everton is the perfect game to try young/valencia at full back and see if the attack can open up even more.

I've always believed he'd make a better right back than Valencia. Not only is he better attacking on the right hand side, he also reads the game better than Valencia defensively. Valencia is probably better than him in 1 v 1's but that's about it. Him playing on the left hand side is just a frustrating match waiting to happen.

It's that fine line syndrome. Going forward he is miles better than Blind and Darmian ,however defensively he has been caught out of position a couple of times which is to be expected from a winger playing full back. Love his attitude and determination though

Bit of a forgotten man in the last few years. Played ok today and a decent player to have in the squad.

Did well on the ball, but he got caught out too many times defensively. Most of Everton's best attacks came from down the right.

LB is just a problem position for us.

Exposed a bit defensively but offered more in attack at LB than we've seen for most of this season so far.

Good couple of games from him, proving quality depth to both full back positions. Love his enthusiasm and running.

Didn't close his flank well enough. Was very exposed and most of their attacks come of it.

A lot of that was down to Rashford having a bit of a mare today I think. No denying you don't fancy Young in one-on-one situation though and I think Everton realised this as they shifted it to their right basically whenever they got the ball.

Going to see a lot of football this month.

Like Fellaini, he's changed my opinion on him so much. The pair give nothing but 100% every time they pull on the red shirt and Mourinho has galvanised that.

91 touches from leftback. You can't really ask for much more from that position.

Whoever wins the battle out of Shaw and Young by the end of the season will be one of the best leftbacks in the league. The competition is going to help both of them.

Atleast a level above Darmain. A very reliable player for us.

Martina gave him a hard time, to be honest.
In 1v1 situations Young got the better of Martina in all instances if remember correctly;however, he did leave his flank exposed on multiple occasions which allowed Martina to get forward.

It is only young's 2nd game back. Yes, he has to improve defensively, but I think he is the right man in that position for us currently.

So glad we've kept him, this guy works his bollocks off every game. Probably our best full back option for the left right now.
Agreed. I know Ashley is never a top top player but he is an outstanding pro. Will be happy if he gets a little run at left back especially against bottom sides. Him and Valencia as full backs suit our inverted wingers.

Couldn't see him playing against likes of Liverpool 1v1 against likes of salah for example

Home games id rather see him than Darmian for the majority of games.
Think Darmian ahead of him for the big games.

I disagree. He's more reliable than Darmian, simply a better footballer.

Offensively you can't even mention them in the same sentence and, perhaps controversially, I prefer Young defensively too. Darmian is technically so limited that he puts us under pressure. He's like a goalkeeper with zero distribution: it isn't necessarily always him but his incapability on ball affects the whole team. Defensive play is so much more than just 1v1 defending.
