Not good enough. Mkhi matic herrera are useless going forward. Without pogba we clearly look like playing with 0 midfield. Herrera is only good when he has a pogba to do the dirty work for him. And fellaini also gone we are zero in midfield.

Now coming to mkhi, how was he voted german bundesliga player of the year or wherever. The guy cannot control football, is he even a footballer or he has decided to take an early retirement. That was another awful performance from him.

We’re awful to watch. All that money and supposed quality in the squad and we serve up this shite every week.

A professional football team at the level we are can barely put 3-4 passes together. Fecking wank.

Subs or a change of approach desperately needed.

I don’t think we’ve been that bad actually, defensively we look fairly resolute. It’s our passing that has been woeful at times but the right subs could make a significant impact.

Needs to find penetrative passes when there is space. He goes sideways.
No he doesn't, wtf are you on about? He's a central CB, penetrative passes are not his responsibility. The other CBs are hoofing the ball, at least he's circulating.

Pretty much the same from both sides. They have more shots cause they shot from 40 yards out a few times. A lot of nothing and worrying about stopping the other.

Bring martial on since hes the only one who can do something from nothing here. Not sure what point Miki has in this game. If youre going for these tactics, you want players who can go past people on their own up top. Martial is the only one we have who can do that so has to go on.

Had a feeling it would turn out this way.

We’re a central midfielder short to line up at our best, but what can you do with Carrick, Pogba and Fellaini all our? Excuse? Maybe, but it’s plainly obvious that we are struggling in that area as we did at Anfield.

Lukaku can feck off if that’s the attitude he’s going to show, so angry with him in that first half

Decent work rate and attitude that half but really disappointed in the lack of quality in our play, we really struggled to put together any sort of combinations in their half and resorted to very direct balls most of the time. Mata and Martial would help us in that department but I'm not sure Mou would put them both in unless we're chasing the game, they don't have the defensive profiles of Rashford and Mkhi that he wants in these types of games.

We look clumsy compared to Tottenham.

Nobody able to bring the ball out of defence. Mkhi adding absolutely nothing.

Can't believe how frustrated this is making me!

Our 3 at the back just doesn’t work.

We work the ball forward so slowly, No pace on the passing and nobody bringing it forward when they have space.

We can’t get the ball forward into our strikers with any decent passes, it’s all lumping it.

We need either go 442 or 433 and get a defender off.

Mkhi and Ander are just crap.. They look lost on the pitch with and without the ball.. Only poor decisions when to release the ball, where to pass and how to protect the ball..
If Spurs weren't used to play their most useless player (Moussa) instead of Kane they'd already be at least one up. This midfield of Matic-Herrera-Mkhi is just way too easy to get past and win the ball - really hopr Pog will be back sooner than later..

Very poor performance so far - best thing is we are still on level..

    Better but frustrating.

Ashley Young our best and most creative player. Here lies the problem.

Mkhitaryan and Herrera just can't keep the ball and make anything happen.
Fully agree get Herrera off the field I would rather have Linguard than him at the moment

I feel like bringing Martial on for Miki would see us become more threatening going forward. Especially the way Martial carries the ball forward.

While Mkhi and Herrera haven't been at their best, and neither has Matic in all honesty, one of the chief problems is that our fullbacks don't push up high enough to support when in possession, limiting the passing options to Rashford and Lukaku who are 2v3 against Spurs's centrebacks. In contrast, Davies and Aurier push up and get involved in the play, which allows Spurs's midfield more options on the ball.

I'll put Martial instead of Mikhi behind Lukaku, he'll definitely be better anyway.

Mourinho doesn't believe the team right now enough to have started this game 4-2-3-1. The main effect of Pogba's absence was the return of Mourinho's fear.

I had no idea 200m+ of investment and we'd stil be playing LVG ball

Jesus this place over reacts massively. Expect us to push on second half but some of the hysterics in here are crazy. Was you expecting to turn up and just steamroll these lot?

Started off really well but tapered off after that. Rashford and maybe Young look like the only ones who could create a goal.

Actually enjoyed that, good battle against a good side. Need to sub Mhiki though, hes offering nothing.

Isn't the problem with this team so obvious?

    The midfield.

We don't move the ball well from defence to attack. That's the job of the midfield.

We have not been lacking in desire. Ability is the problem, not tactics.

    decent first half.
I also think that the first half was decent.
Both teams are playing with a bit of caution and Jose especially is aiming for a 1-0 score.
Of course, it doesn't help that we have lost Pogba, followed by his replacement, Fellaini. The last international break completely messed us up.

The differene appears to be that Spurs have a system and patterns of play, whereas we hope for individuals to do sonething.

Honestly I would change Smalling for Martial and go for a back-4 in the second half with a lot more pace on the wings (Martial left - Rash right).

Very good first half overall in my opinion.
Spurs have mostly had long-distance shooting on De Gea, so defensively we've looked good... Apart from Jones who looks shaky as feck, but 3cbs with Matic helps on covering when needed.
Herrera is a bit lackluster in his tracking-back.
Seen a few situations where he's been jogging back when the ball-carrier is just a short running distance away and don't have others pressing him.

Offensively Mkhitaryan is a lot of hit & miss, seems to struggle with accuracy in his passing, but he's at least having a few good picks, so hopefully he'll manage to get his accuracy up in the second half.

    Edit:
Think Young have done great. Rashford also looks lively.

Both teams cancelling each other out, I don't understand the praise Spurs are getting. Also why is everyone pretending as if only one team is missing their best player?

Why does Jose never give mata a go at 10?

Mhiki loses the ball over and over whereas at least mata has control of play. Also people need to stop blaming ander the guy is everywhere and is outnumbered in the middle yet he is still far more involved than matic who has given the ball away yet hasn't been involved in breaking up play.
    Mata's error last game, remember?

    Better than the Liverpool game...

Young has been good but the rest were meh, Tottenham haven’t threatened but have controlled the tempo.

The Ref is certainly not a homer today.

    Somewhere they can't find me.
I wouldn't go as far to say we've been outplayed, it's just been a very dull affair all round. Spurs have hardly set the game alight. The worry is if they do turn it up second half...
Well, the excuse for the liverpool game and huddersfield defeat was that we were away from home. You certainly can't say that today.
