Just called up BT Sports telling them that £28/month was too expensive. The guy said let me see if I can find out if we have any discounts. One minute later, the price was dropped to £10.99 for the next 12 months. Much better.
Existing customer? I'd pay £10 for BT Sport.

Existing customer, yes. I tried doing the same with Sky, they found a deal, but it was only a few quid saving on Sky Sports and they wanted to lock you into a contract, so I didn't bother with them.

Did BT not want to lock you in to a contract? I found that nearly every deal with BT includes being tied down to another 12 or 24 months, and a lot of the time they don't even tell you, it's all in the smallprint.

Yes, 12 months contract. I think Sky mentioned 18 months and were offering just a few pounds off. BT sports went from £28 to £10.99 so it made sense and I was happy to extend the contract.

The worst football broadcaster around?

They spend 90 minutes of every match trying to create talking points for their shite talk shows.

Throw in a bit of lad banter and you've got the worst sports channel ever created.
well, ITV's forage into digital years ago might just beat them in that they had Andy Townsend in the "tactics truck"

3 commentators on one game too. And Howard Webb in his hotdog van. Wankers.
well when one of them is the oafish Mr State the Bleeding Obvious (ie that was a good shot) Glenn Hoddle, you need an extra one!

I see BT are showboating that they are offering the final of the champions league being streamed for free, someone advised me today that they are legally obliged to do so.. Is that true ?

They have cancelled The European Football Show. Bad move. I thought it was the best football show on TV.

What the heck for. I loved that. Looking at BT's adverts this show was obviously too intelligent for them.
God knows why. Terrible decision though, I'm gutted about it. Watch they will probably give Robbie Savage another show with 'bantz' to replace it.

Aren't BT losing quite a bit of money. This show has probably been sacrificed. They need to be able to pay Lineker and Co.

Ffs, it's about the only decent coverage of European football here. I assume they'll still be showing the same amount of matches from the European leagues but you need that bit of context and analysis around it, the show had the added bonus of Jimbo and actual journalists, a revelation for British football coverage.

Given that the concept, the presenter and the journalists for the European football show were all taken from the Guardian's Football Weekly podcast, just listen to that instead. :)

In all seriousness though, it's a silly decision. Was probably something of a niche, but nevertheless, James Richardson and Co are knowledgeable, insightful and witty.

The one thing BT had going for them was their coverage of European football

Loved that show. Informative, good humour and the one football show where the live game which leads from it was an after-thought. BT's PL coverage is cringe "bantz" shite. Being fronted by Jake "Jake" Humphrey explains why.

This is like Football Weekly's best bits, no Barry Glendenning taking what seems like years trying to recount the details of a match he's watched at the weekend, no Jimbo trying to pretend he knows about the Premier League, if the podcast was more like the show I might start listening again.

Yeah as a listener to the podcast aswell I always enjoyed the show more. James Richardson hosting a football show just feels so right.

Wow that's really pissed me off. Surely it was a popular show? it was fantastic.

Much rather watch that for an hour on a Sunday than 3 hours of "Fletch and Sav" FFS.

Julien Lauren's on 'The Game' podcast with Gabriel Marcotti, but that's obviously PL focused.

I'll miss Richardson and Co too. Amongst all the wit and insight, it's the humour that self mockery which glues his shows together.

Being replaced by Corden & Vinnie's Custard Pie Party featuring Footy, apparently.

The bias from McManaman is hilarious. Can't even bring himself to criticise Ramos for how pathetic and embarrassing he is

Why the bugger do they employ Hargreaves? He's like the world's worst poet:

I enjoyed Ian Darke's meltdown after the Ramos incident, I'm paraphrasing but he said something like 'that's the worst thing I've ever seen on a football pitch'.

Their inability to employ anyone that knows, or can explain, the offside rule is pretty poor tonight.
