Because police didn't want the game on NYE. Crowd at Wembley would've been significantly low. Plus Sky didn't want the game moved to Saturday because it would've clashed with Old Firm. Why have Spurs just skipped a round of fixtures?
They are playing on Tuesday and Thursday. Why have Spurs just skipped a round of fixtures?
Very. Should have lost that game.Yeah only lost Jesus and De Bruyne to injuries, plus got a penalty given against us for a dive. So lucky.
They have two games in 3 days coming up. Not enough police due to NYE to police a full Wembley, Spurs (and one presumes West Ham) were given the option of a much reduced attendance or another date. They chose another date.
Haha wut - only in the UK!
Of course he has an agenda against you.I am fecking fed up. We are shit, but the referee can't wait to feck us over.
Mike Dean has a fecking agenda against us. Can't wait until he retires. fecking cnut.
He did say that the problem was for all teams and managers, not just Arsenal.Arsene Wenger complains about the fixtures despite having the best set of winter games with the least travel.
Of course he has an agenda against you.
Agreed, the rule is flawed, and you're right, a great deal of handball that is called isn't deliberate, because the discretion applied is inconsistent. That's the problem. But the rule as it is states that it has to be deliberate, and this wasn't. I say - Bin the rule, make all handball contact an indirect free kick, unless it denies a clear goal scoring opportunity in the box, then it's a penalty. How many deliberate hand balls in the box have we seen lately and got called a penalty ? Most of the hand balls can be considered not deliberate for me but still get called. The rule is flawed.
But it was their player's mistake to keep his hands that stupidly in front of him in such a situation. He should have had them behind their back. He has nothing but himself to blame.
Different referee? What was the difference between Chambers handball and the Southampton players' yesterday?
cnuts.
Refs are shit, inconsistent etc etc, but they don't seem accountable for any mistakes so nothing will improve. What was the difference between Chambers handball and the Southampton players' yesterday?

It was clear WBA player was going in such a position to make a cross. As a professional defender in such a situation you should be easily anticipating that and run to close on him with your body. Keep your hands in front of you like this are like asking for trouble, as if you're asking the opposition player to hit them and leave the call for the ref. The opposition player take full advantage of situation and hit the cross in his hand. I can't really blame anyone here but Arsenal's player. His defending was very poor from the start imo.Agreed, the rule is flawed, and you're right, a great deal of handball that is called isn't deliberate, because the discretion applied is inconsistent. Disagree with his arms being in that position. Footballers shouldn't be expected to play with their hands behind their back. He wasn't just standing ground trying to block a cross where you mostly see it happen, he was in full motion, running forwards to close him down. His arms were infront of him for balance, not out wide or above his head. Considering the circumstances they were in a natural position.
Yoshida had his hands up, they had nothing to search there. -> no penaltyWhat was the difference between Chambers handball and the Southampton players' yesterday?

Surely you did not watch us against Leicester and Burnley then. We should have beaten Leicester by 4 or 5 goals. Burnley we were poor first half but second half Lingard missed a great chance and we did create enough to beat. Yesterday we were poor but even then we were denied a clear Penalty. My point is we were no different than what you were today. You need to create lots of chances to get lucky with one of them
Today one goes against them and a completely different tone:Arsene Wenger felt it was the correct decision not to award Jay Rodriguez a penalty in Arsenal's 2-0 win over West Brom on Monday.
Wenger: “The Premier League doesn’t face the problems of the schedule or referees. “Since becoming professional their level has not gone up.”
His hands were infront of him and parallel with his body. He was running to close him down and then had to come to a halt, you can't do that with your hands by your side or behind your back. They have to be in front. Given what he was doing and had every right to do, they're in the most natural of natural positions. So long as the rule is 'deliberate', he's not done anything wrong, because it's not deliberate. Change the rule, or apply it properly. It was clear WBA player was going in such a position to make a cross. Arsene Know it's a bit hypocritical but nevertheless, I love the snideIn the reverse fixture Rodriquez was denied a clean pen.
Wenger's response:
Today one goes against them and a completely different tone:
I think the defenders shouldn't depend much on that "deliberate" part. The rule is obviously flawed and depends only on the ref opinion on the handball, much like teams playing on offside trap are risking their luck because a single ref mistake can cost them the full game. Defenders should try to evade hand balls as much as possible instead of risking their luck with the ref.His hands were infront of him and parallel with his body. He was running to close him down and then had to come to a halt, you can't do that with your hands by your side or behind your back. They have to be in front. The rule is worthless if the referees are just going to apply their own rules to it, with every referee seeing it differently.
You're lucky every referee has an agenda against us.I am fecking fed up. We are shit, but the referee can't wait to feck us over.

I know what you're saying but for me if the player gets an advantage then it's a foul. Deliberate or not.You ever tried running at full speed and then stopping instantly with your hands behind your back? It's not easy as the momentum will carry you forward. His hands came in front to stop him clattering into Gibbs and balance himself and stop him falling forward. At that distance you can't call it deliberate or if thats the case then players should just aim for hands when crossing in the box to get a penalty.
Looking at it you can see he was trying to balance himself and wasn't going to handle the cross.
That's Arsene, from year zero.Wenger's response:
Today one goes against them and a completely different tone:
So you are allowed to slap the ball out of play as long as your arms are inline with your body? His hand are inline with his body. If his hands arent there the ball hits his body anyway. It's not a handball at all.
Needs to shave his head.
Balding + hat-hair = not a good look.Needs to shave his head.
He didn't even get an advantage. If it didn't hit his arm it would have gone harmlessly onto his body and he'd have cleared it. As it is, his hand knocked it back to Gibbs, so if anything it was a disadvantage. Not that this matters, anyway. It has to be deliberate according to the rules, and it doesn't meet the criteria for the more 'unwritten' rules we seem to have such as being in an unnatural position.I know what you're saying but for me if the player gets an advantage then it's a foul. Deliberate or not.
The player stopped the ball with his arm.
Peno
The rules are largely irrelevant to referees. They will make things up and run wild with their imagination when applying the rules. This is because refs are untouchable and have no accountability. The referees are an absolute shitshow. They just make it up. Something has to change. We can start my making the rules more conspicuous. Nobody has a clue about handball.
What? How is that even the same thing? So you are allowed to slap the ball out of play as long as your arms are inline with your body?
