It was such an easy opportunity to be the "bigger man" and show that he's above falling for it. What a fool.
Before this Jose said "some managers moan and cry about injuries but I won't do it", then in Conte's press confernece journalist said the same quote and then said given that you are talking about injuries it is directed at you. Then Conte went on a mini rant.

Seriously how stupid is he or how dumb is Chelsea's press officer?

Besides even if it were aimed at Conte for certain, it's the truth after all. Conte is a clown.

You're entitled to your opinion just as I am. Fact of the matter is, Mourinho tried sucking Pep into this as well. But he never took the bait. Just continued on with his business and kept on building the unassailable lead he has on us and the rest of the competition. I agree with you that the press blow it up though. But Mourinho knows that anything he says they will make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Fair enough but suggesting fergie would be mortified by any of it is a little disingenuous. Also, anybody can stay out of things when coasting to the title. Guardiola wasn't without his moments last season, and even this season where they are literally walking to the title, he's come out with some specialist rubbish too and had incidents that would be magnified if city were under a little pressure.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but city haven't played since he "tried to suck pep in" let alone extended a lead? Personally felt the original comment wasn't even a dig at anyone and conte rose to media bait

By the end of this season you mean. After Barca knocks him out of the CL and the PL is basically gone for him, Roman's itchy trigger finger will be looming harder and harder each passing day.
It's a possibility, but I think that he"ll survive as long as he finishes in the top 3.I think that no manager can last beyond 3 years under Roman,so he"ll definitely be gone by the end of next season....

Many of you who are laughing should know Jose remarks are defamation and slander which is a sueable offence seeing as Conte was wrong accused and cleared of all match fixing charges. But it goes to show how double standard you united fans are, when Jose calls out Scholes he's a classless twat and should focus on his job but when he's doing the same thing to a next manager he's cool and great
1) Jose never mentioned Conte when he said he wouldn't get suspended for match fixing. A journo brought up Conte and Jose said has he? Not me. While he may have brought up the matter to get the Journo to bring up Conte and match fixing he didn't bring it up him self.

2) Jose said he had never been suspended for match fixing. Conte was suspended in a match fixing allegation. That's a matter of record. Whether he was later cleared or not does not change the facts. The was no mention of guilt in any of his comments.

3) Conte asked Jose to fight him in the interview when said he had dementia. He asked for this. Scholes was just doing his job and didn't ask for what he got.

Oh quit your moaning ffs this has nothing to do with Pep, he already had his lead before all this started. Tried sucking Pep into what exactly? Is everything Jose says about Pep now? Thank God you're not City's press manager, you'd have Pep mouthing off on shit that has nothing to do with him as well

I see the thread title has been updated, was that Conte's comeback?

Very weak. He might be cracking up.

Why do we need two threads for this? I'm more concerned with our football rather than watch two managers call other names while another manager goes 15 points clear with his team

3) He did not mean fight literally. He said he is trying to improve his English so that he can fight, so he wasn't referring to a literal fight, as some of you seem to think.

I find this whole thing quite stupid from both parties, and Conte shouldn't have responded.

Why does Jose have it in for Conte so much? It's almost as though he sees Chelsea as his team and he can't stand somebody else managing them.
First comment Mou made could easily have been Klopp as well. Conte was first to bite.

I dont like all this shit from Mourinho, as I think he belittles the club. He does it everywhere he goes, and I wouldnt believe anyone on here who says they supported him saying it when he was at the other clubs. No need for it.

The blame should be on the journos who claimed Jose was talking about Conte. Conte's English is not so good and given Mourinho's past jibes, he believed the journos word and responded.

Just guess, but if Conte is to walk, it does paint Chelsea as pressure cooker for coaches, and not a good one given Conte echoed the same problem with the board ain't supportive in transfer by having their own signings. Mourinho's covering his ass you can say, while making it difficult for Chelsea to progress.

But the clown comment ain't exactly aimed as Conte. Conte digged his own grave and now Mourinho just gave him a hand.

Jose up to his old tricks again. Conte is making himself look like a tit by getting so wound up by it

There's a lot of bias on this thread, suggesting Conte is wound up etc.

Both managers are being equally childish and it should have stopped a while ago. Jose had no need to make the match fixing comment, I find it bizarre to be honest.

It seems to me to have started with Conte's comments about avoiding a "Mourinho season with Chelsea" in reference to Jose's last season with Chelsea before the sack. He made those comment during pre-season this season and it all seems to have escalated from there with Jose taking offence at those comments.

As for my take on the whole thing:

This just about sums it up.

True. Press are thundering wankers. Push and push, and if they don’t get what they want - they just flip words around to make something out of nothing anyway

It may be the case, however the bigger question is why Conte doesn't try to get help. Too confident on his English (ironically he mentioned Mourinho's attack on Ranieri's English now) Chelsea press media should have known about the English journalism, why they don't step in to give Conte's advise.

For all people who complained, you can unwatch the thread and avoid some media outlet. It's not like it's everywhere

I still remember the 4-0 defeat last year, he was acting like he won the CL ffs. He is indeed a clown and even though I liked him in the beginning, I immediately disliked him when I saw him jump up and down like a monkey showing disrespect to our team. So feck him, I m with Jose on this one.

What exactly is tiresome? A couple of press stories you didn't need to read or a thread you didn't need to enter? Must be a precious existence

Very weak response from Conte. If he didn't fell for the trap by the garbage journalists saying that Jose said that he was a clown (I would think about Klopp first), this would not happen. I didn't know that he was a cheater (match fixing), but now many people and I know.

 True that. Those just harmless hilarious banters. I wish more managers would start these words war. It would make the game more interesting, when their teams meet.

We need not forget, that apparently they are both vying for the same job, PSG. So the animosity is normal.:nono:

Why does Jose have it in for Conte so much? It's almost as though he sees Chelsea as his team and he can't stand somebody else managing them.
This "beef" goes farther back than just this season. Last season Mourinho was the first (that I know of) to credit Chelsea's League table lead to Chelsea playing "solid defense, and counter-attacking really well" (paraphrasing). Conte was told about it by the press (in a way to make it sound like a slight at Conte), and Conte took the bait, so the war of words began there.

Unprovoked, (start of this season) Conte said he hoped to avoid a "Mourinho season." That's a dammed thing thing to say (a "Mourinho season" is when his team heavily under-performs and he gets sacked, not when he's winning one of his 25 career trophies, huh?). That escalated the war, and Mourinho fired back with "I'm not going to lose my hair over Conte's comments." Conte's had hair transplant surgery, allegedly.

During Pogba's injury Mourinho said he doesn't whine about player injuries the way others do, and Conte took it as a shot at him. So he pissed himself at the next presser (10:52):

Mourinho's passion was recently questioned by some media and fans because he doesn't run around on the sidelines anymore, so he clarified why he isn't as animated as he used to be, and that his "not acting like a clown" shouldn't be misconstrued as lack of passion.

Conte either thought he was talking about him, or used the opportunity to take another shot at Mourinho. So Mourinho fired back with the "at least I've never been suspended for match fixing."

I'm convinced you don't actually watch unedited press conferences and instead just read partial quotes in the papers or online articles, otherwise you'd know that the media does this to every manager to try to get the next big headline. It's just that some managers lack the sense required to avoid falling for their schemes (in the video above, Chelsea's media manager finally cuts Conte off and tells him, "Dude, he didn't even say your name. The press is just egging you on and you're falling for it. Let's move on.").

Edit: keep watching the video above past his initial response. When the translator starts translating, Conte realizes he might have been had and tries to clarify himself.

I think what Jose meant to say that just because he does not go berserk and act like a clown on the touchline now, he is still passionate. So immediately the journo put Conte on the spot and asked him about it. Conte fell for it and the main reason could be that he thinks he acts like a clown on the touchline.
Why didnt they ask Big Sam or Arsene Wenger about the comments of Jose? Or Klopp?
As for Jose being sued, there is no chance in hell of that happening especially after the Senile Dementia comments.

Hilarious how Conte is becoming Mourinho's new punch bag a-la Wenger.

Forget City and the title, the real battle is right here for second place

Is any of this really so different to the shit Ferguson said about other managers over the years?

Did Ferguson belittle the club in your opinion?
