Good point!

Strange you can spend £75m on a CB and still not pay 250k a week in wages. I know there's a structure for a reason, but it does strike me as odd sometimes.
Transfer fees set a precedent with other clubs.
Massive wages sets one with players. Far harder to reverse and rectify.
A wage structure is like a virginity. Once its gone, its gone

The minute we pay Sanchez 250k Mane, Firmino and Salah would demand something similar and then we would have trouble.

City lost to Liverpool. Some fake twitter bloke said City were meeting with Sanchez, papers ran with it. People bet on City.
Got it. As long is it's fake there's nothing to worry about then.

It is simple. If you give alexis 350k then salah, mane, firmino will ask 300k. Then you have a gap between them on 300k and rest of squad on 70-80k. Then rest of squad want 150k. And there you go, it is 30,40,50 mil more on wages. Per year.

Have you seen this thread today? That only should explain it. People believe everything and are willing to bet on it too.
Just woke up not long ago, was hoping to see Sanchez in a United shirt by now or at least some Di Marzio tweet. Instead I see those odds and nothing really new on this thread, that's why I was asking about the odds.

Cannot believe I’m reading ‘decided in 48 hours’ again about a United transfer saga. This will drag on for sure.

Odds by themselves mean nothing but there must be a reason why more people bet on City today than yesterday.
Yeah... it'll be the MEN saying City aren't out of the running and they're having crunch meetings on how to go forward... though I'm sure it said in one of the reports that everyone at City are in agreement that it's too much money to spend.

Plus you have to think that if they really were back in for him, we'd have heard something by now. They're hardly quiet when doing their business are they

Started feeling that this transfer is not gonna happen. Already feel tired with all those speculations. I stay in Redcafe and Twitter all day long refreshing, it's really exhausting. Hope it will be finished very soon. :wenger:

Has he said they are more important to him than club honours?
You think winning his countries only two trophies wouldn't mean so much more than any club trophy? You think Alexis cares about any one club as much as chile?

I don't think it's a matter of money on our part, Ed and United will be prepared to pay whatever it takes to sign Sanchez and in the process close the gap a lttle on City.

Sanchez is considering his options of which there are many. Hardly an easy decision for him whatever he decides.

This thread might still be running on the 31st of January. Imagine the meltdown that would take place if it did!

Yeah I forgot they are like Arsenal with regards to their wage structure. Happy days says I!

On Friday I was resigned to this never happening but as the days go on I'm getting sucked down the rabbit hole more and more. FEED ME!!

Ah. Safe to say, you haven't missed out on anything today. Because it's been totally silent, the tabloid journalist has trying to fill up their columns by adding every possible scenario to this saga, causing several people to lose it. Even claiming silence = he's going to City. Hence the shift in odds.

Nobody said the life of a muppet would be an easy one.

A true muppet must have perseverance and determination.

Hang in there.

I love how literally nothing of note happens for a few hours and a bunch of people panic and decide it's off

You have a maximum of 2 weeks of continued "refreshing" to go. Keep up the fight brother, don't allow a little thing like exhaustion hold you back.

lets just say the longer we wait the longer we are giving City or another club to find this money for Sanchez.

PS Real Madrid are sitting 4th in La Liga and it wouldnt surprise me if they come in for Alexis.

Why do you think it's United that is waiting when it's been reported that Arsenal want to get a replacement in before selling?

If it makes anyone feel better we always take ages to announce signings, and don't do so until the player has been examined, photographed and interviewed.

Someone needs to photoshop a pic of him holding a PSG shirt and this place will go feral. Blindsided.

Yep, that makes sense. Hopefully we'll hear some good news before or after the game.

I think we’ll find more out after the game when questions are bound to be asked to Jose about him.

It’s pathetic. Patience is everything.
Yep. This happens with nigh on every transfer whether it's on or off. Signs point to it being on, but all we can do is wait it out. It's almost like football transfers are complicated.

It's really not surprising we're getting news of a high profile signing on a match day.

Is there a development I've not heard of? Why are so many people getting excited about this? If he wants to go to City he'll go to City regardless of what we or they offer. City aren't bidding to get the player, they'd just be paying to get him 5 months earlier, which considering their strong position, why would they bother?

Assuming all the previous talk of him wanting to go to City are true, i can't see why he'd suddenly choose us unless we offer a crazy contract for the sake of waiting 5 months.

Of course I want him here, and there's obviously a lot of rumours he could come, but I just don't understand why he would right now. That's without the added complications of Mhiki going the other way.
