Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Problem with transfer stories is that you get reporters who have genuine contacts - those are the ones that often say very little and only Tweet/report when there's something to say. Then there are the second tier who know only what the top tier reporters are saying and attach vaguely plausible spin that you nobody can disprove even if it subsequently turns out to be false.

E.g: Top Tier journalist: United in lead to sign Sanchez and are hopeful of a deal being reached
Second Tier journalist: United in front but City still following closely, sources close to player believe Pep's side can still tempt him

Essentially the more information reported the less likely it is to be true. If you actually go by what the very top-level reporters report it's quite minimal, indepth on one theme. The bullshitters try and cram as much bullshit in as possible in order to make themselves look less bullshittery.

On the wages, any chance we'll nix Ibra this month and just give em to Sanchez?

Tis a ton of dosh to be fair.

weird to see some arsenal fans on twitter thinking that selling to City over selling to us is some sort of win. very strange world.

It isn’t weird. We are a far bigger rival and it would hurt the fans much more. Football is tribal in many ways. No one cares about City yet.

So, City may face millions p/a of additional player fees should they agree to Sanchez' terms, because they'd need to up the money for their current star players or face mutiny.
But well, they're made of money.

That is actually concerning. Isn't that too much? Pogba, DDG and eventually Martial and Lukaku will want similar wages, too. Aren't we blowing the wage structure out of the water?

Martial is at least 3-4 years away from that, Lukaku will never be worth that imo.

I think that as Sanchez slides off into the sunset (if he signs) after leading us to CL and PL glory, Martial will slide into his wages. That's the way I'd see it anyways, with my about 4000 hours of football manager experience. :)

How can golden retrievers be so dopey-looking and yet somehow possess the required brains to guide blind people?

I don't even want the money. Let him rot on the bench for 6 months. The time to sell him was last summer.

Mkhitaryan not on the bench vs. Stoke, which adds fuel to the story of him being part of a swap deal.

This is what happens when you fail to plan properly and have to play catch up.

No they're not! apparently they are Peps Purity project ,money only makes it dirty. hence Dirty Sanchez will sign for us Because he wants the money .... all the money

1. So it seems like we tried to use Mhiki as a bargaining chip in the Sanchez deal but Mhiki does not want to go to Arsenal (I guess who really wants to jump ship to one that's on the verge of sinking)
2. Wenger tried his luck of including Martial in the deal which is completely preposterous considering how much Martial's value has increased based on his performances this season. Martial is easily worth 60m+ in this market.

Seriously, Arsenal should just get done with this deal. The longer it goes on and on, it gives City or any team a chance to hijack it. PS: Got to learn a think of two from Noisy Neighbors.

It'll be a structured deal based on performances etc. Standard journalistic reporting on finance is far too simplistic. Virtually all transfer fees, and wages are structured in very complicated ways, to cover myriad factors such as payment schedules, performance incentives etc. How United handle their finances is definitely the LEAST of my concerns about the club.

I can't feel but help a bit sorry for Mkhi.

Ok he's been poor since coming but he's clearly had problems settling in this country and will get flung to Arsenal seemingly against his wishes.

Ah well, £100k a week and all that.

Martial and Lukaku havent done shit to even request that kind of money. Pogba is well on his way there. His next contract might be worth that. And for GKs to be earning that much, it might take a while. Plus our revenues are off the charts every year. We can easily afford this or else we wont be doing it.

Martial and Lukaku have to prove that they're worth those wages though.

If not on Sanchez level, it will at least lead to a pay rise for those two. Instead of being satisfied with say 150-200k, they'd want 250-300.
But I guess the lack of transfer fee takes care of that.

As an FM player myself, I shall take your advice, o mighty one. :P

Can't disagree with this. We had to do something similar for Zlatan, too, last season. And in retrospect, it was worth it.
Let's hope we have a similar scenario with Sanchez.
