We all love United
Only 3 seasons at the club but he has really endeared himself to the United fans. Don't think we have seen such a complete striker in that first season of his, not even Ruud i think

That for real?

Ruud was a level above Van Persie, I'd go as far as saying Ruud is one of the best goalscorers of all time. Van Persie was a fantastic player but he only really had a peak of four years, Ruud was nailing goals for over a decade.

I agree with him. Career wise of course he doesn't come close, but at their peaks RvP was a completely different animal, scoring goals out of nothing on top of creating tons of chance for fun.

Yeah agreed, but Ruud was scoring goals like that all his career. He'd carry the ball from deep positions and drive one on one with the goalkeeper to score.

I don't know RVP scored against Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Arsenal away that season and we won all those games. RVP was a monster that season.

The only blip for Robin was his form in Europe. The game against Madrid stands out where the chances just wouldn't go in. Ruud was top drawer for us in all competitions

van Nistelrooy was a great player for us, he's easily a better goal scorer than van Persie but RVP is better technically.

RvP's number of CL games for us was too small a sample size, Ruud just like any goalscorers had many of those days in our shirts too.

Also important to point out that Ruud spent his entire career being a center forward IIRC, RvP had been used as a winger until two years before he came to us.

It's a team sport, but that RvP title winning XI was as close to a one man band as it comes.

Finally coming back to Rotterdam

Hopefully he can squeeze out a couple of half decent years at Feyenoord, and finish his career playing for Excelsior.

So glad he's back :) That little touch to pass the defender is classic Robin.

Threadtitle should be updated to Feyenoord player btw

I don't know why but he's still my favourite Utd player of all time.

There's a certain class the way he strikes the ball, hits them so cleanly, one of the best ever in this respect imo.

He is, definitely.

I recently watched a compilation of all his PL goals and there's very few that aren't beautifully hit shots with the inside of his left boot.

Trololol at the video quality, you should be fined two weeks wages for posting a good goal like that

Seriously though, it was a nice moment. Happened two or three minutes after he had come on too. Even the media seemed extremely happy for him and Feyenoord.

All vids I found were blocked due to copyright stuff, this was the only one I could find. :wenger:

Two weeks wages is harsh, I make 1200K a week, just like Alexis.

Saw this last night, what a dream moment for him. The crowd singing "Oh, Robin Van Persie!" straight after was great too.

One of my favourite United players ever too despite his short stay.

Unbelivable at his peak.

Peak RvP v Peak Rooney anyone?

Based on absolutely nothing i would say us without a doubt. The guy is a natural winner, he never suited Arsenal.
 feck off with that. He joined us right after the invincible season. You know the team that was the best in the country that had just slapped everyone around without knowing what defeat meant.
He also won the fa cup and shield that very year he joined us.

Before anyone mentions, the invincibles European record, read my post carefully. Also cups are irrelevant according to this forum since league is the be and all (unless united are winning, then everything is relevant).

What have you ever done since? Nothing.
Btw, your team was 1 penalty miss away form not going unbeaten.

I would rather have him than Lukaku.
Still, at this moment today, in terms of ability as a forward, a better player than Lukaku. Would probably work better than Lukaku as a target man in our team today too, just from his hold up play and ability to actually pick a pass.

Of course, he might not cope that well with the pace of the PL today, but what could have been if Moyes didn't come in and destroy that title-winning momentum followed by LVG selling him/Chica/Welbeck and replacing them with nobody.

Don't be ridiculous guys, he's 34 years old and the Dutch league is quite weak. He wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace of the PL. It's a great goal, but all it demonstrates is that class is permanent.

Great goal.

I think he could have given us at least 1 more season before leaving and would have been definitely better than any crap Rooney had did under LVG as main striker.

But still his first season is enough to always remember him. It was short but he became quickly one of most favorite players in the team.

Such a great player in his prime

At his peak he is one of the few players I've seen who almost matched Rooney at his peak
