Neymar didn't look like a 200M player out there.

Also again just like last year when Emery opted to be conservative (2nd leg against Barcelona), it cost him the game tonight. He put on another defender, Meunier, for Cavani and it backfired. Just like Mourinho, playing conservatively in big matches often backfires on you.

Every side who have hopes of winning the CL will want PSG out.
This Madrid side looks very beatable, this story is about PSG rather than a great Madrid side stepping up imo.
Madrid have won 2 champions league titles in a row. PSG have built a really good side but again, they don't have the experience. Real Madrid have it more then anyone and show it. They have great players all over the pitch and subs that can change the game. Sure they are struggling in the league and have had a below par season, doesn't mean they can't just turn up when it counts (exactly like they did today).

Saying that, I doubt they'll win 3 in a row. But you have to ignore how their season has gone til now because they are still capable of beating anyone.

I was OK with the chosen starting 11.

- Lo Celso booked 1st half should have been replaced by Diarra more experienced and who would have been happy to come back on this pitch.
- Di Maria in great shape on the bench 90 minutes is shocking.
- Neymar has been overly selfish

The only dream scenario would be to win 2-0 at home
He does that for the national team sometimes and I hate it. He holds the ball for far too long. He was easily blowing pass anyone who marked him but choose and extra dribble instead of an easy pass.

PSG attack seemed a bit soft and selfish to me. Zidane took the risk and went to attack while Emry didn't have a clue what he was doing.

PSG are full of experience, they're not kids.
The only reason PSG haven't the experience of Madrid etc is down to the players not being good enough to get it done.
Beating PSG is a feather in the cap but they were primed to be found out, the only bugbear is it being against Real Madrid where every excuse will be made for them rather than against another top side so their imbalances could be properly assessed.

More selfish as usual because he did want to be the super star tonight.

No penalty but usual stuff

PSG immaturity cost them. Will be tough to turn around but not impossible.

Taking Cavani off that early was baffling. Emery is done.

You'd have thought the plan was to see out the result but they carried on attacking. And tbf, actually had a good spell.

Neymar is one selfish player. He is played for himself and no one is bigger than a club. Tonight he tried to put a show and take Real on by himself but you can't achieve anything without your teammates. It was a very even game and PSG were on top for a while in the 2nd half but things went downhill when Emery decided to take their focal point off and put Meunier on which coincided with Real bringing on Asensio and Vazquez. Zidane got it spot on by taking the initiative. It's not looking good for PSG but they can still turn things around with some luck. I will wait to judge them after the 2nd leg. It's not over till its over.

Neymar €222m, Mbappe €180m. Going out in the round of 16 again, priceless.

Yeah, it was obvious the guy who scored in every Champions League game was the major threat. I'm not surprised by his performance
I actually thought I'd put my prediction of 3-1 on here, but obviously not. It isn't as impressive now I admit.

Pretty pissed that the ref bottled that 2nd yellow for the Neymar dive. What message does that send to players? "oh you can dive but we just won't punish you for it"?

Very good game. Thought it could have went anyway after 1-1. PSG had a good spell where they looked most likely to score. If Real manage to get to another final, people who don't want to see Real win better hope that they play Barca. Everyone else would lose and only Barca have the "cojones" to beat them in a highstakes game.

Experience in playing big games, competing at the highest level, playing against other top teams with the right intensity, etc.. Neymar had it from Barca and Dani Alves with barca and Juve. The rest? Not really. Mbappe is still a kid, despite being ridiculously good. Cavani has always been a bottler at the biggest stage, and then they did play a lot of younger players all around the pitch. But it's not really quality of players. They have a very good side, but it's the same old shit that we saw with Pep's Bayern plenty of times and we see with PSG pretty often. They start the season on fire, and then get really comfortable half way through the season, have very little competition in the league, then get caught cold when they come up against a real challenge in the knockout phase. Happens every year and it'll always happen because they don't have the experience and aren't used to playing teams as good as they are, or even slightly better. They get in a mentality of everything being easy then can't adjust and aren't ready.

It's what I was always saying for them. Put this exact side in the premier league or La Liga and I'd say they would have a better chance of success. Playing in Ligue 1 though, nothing.

Madrid are a different beast in the Champions League. The side just has too much experience and you could see that on the pitch today.

Am I the only one who thought if you stopped the game at 80 minutes today you would say PSG were the better side on the night? They had the better chances, then just fell apart.

We miss a fit Thiago Motta.
Cavani shouldn't have started. Offered nothing. Should have played Neymar Mbappe Di Maria front 3. Emery is a coward and his subs were pathetic and let Madrid come on to you.

3-1 flatters Madrid imo but I think the tie's close to being done. PSG will need a great performance in the second tie but the problem is Madrid are just as likely to score too. Madrid in the CL rarely don't turn up so it'll be very tough for PSG.

Such a strange game. Real played better in the first half and than got a penalty to get back in the match out of nothing, but the pure stupidity of Lo Celso. Cavani goes off, Paris looks better on the pitch for 10-15 minutes and than again bottles it at the end. Neymar didn't have a great game. To be more precise, he played quite selfish. On the other hand, I thought PSG midfield was pretty good.

Altogether, it was more a game of brilliant individual moments than some brilliant team play from both teams imo.

It's still open but can't see Madrid not scoring in the second leg. Which makes PSG job much more difficult.

The team would have been much balanced in this scenario even if I like Cavani given his perf today

Maybe the best way to play Madrid is to park the bus Jose style and try to get Madrid to break the opposition down. A lot of the goals scored by them is when the game is stretched or on the counter.

I’m talking of how to stop them scoring, Ronaldo is lethal on the counter and when the game is stretched.

I agree, PSG looked great once Cavani was off. It’s a game of fine margins.

I think PSG will go though, they are great at home. Beat 3-0 Bayern, 4-0 Barca at home, so 2-0 is not something I would call as miracle.

This is why Neymar will never be able to be regarded as the same calibre as Messi or Ronaldo. Too selfish and plays for himself. Messi creates chances, assists for fun and scores himself and so does a younger Ronaldo.
