The free, almost new, stadium would have played a large part in the decision.

Maine Road was a wreck. It wouldn't project a good image spending hundreds of millions on players yet playing in a ground that was so decrepit.

Mansour lucked out though. He was probably looking at spending a few hundred million to expand capacity. Alot better than spending nearly a Billion on a totally new ground. As it is he has spent a few million on a small expansion which is rarely sold out. He has no need to try to expand the stadium to 60K + as demand isn't there. Has saved himself a small fortune. .
Hello namco. Still obsessed and still delusional. Amusing!

Next year is our year, they deserve it this year. Had those close calls in the beginning of the season. but have been flying ever since.

We've been through this a million times. Why the constant repetition?

On paper best team in Europe, would take some performance by Madrid/Bayern/Barcelona or the English clubs to stop them in the Champions League.

What can you say? They are devastating. We can only hope they lose a bit of their edge next season. They're clearly far too good to go away any time soon but let's at least hope they won't be THIS good again in the coming seasons.

I've very concerned about them in terms of the UCL, not because I think we can win it but because we'll never hear the end of it as United fans if they win 3 trophies

Bayern, Barca and Real are not as naive as this dumb Arsenal team. But...City are loaded with offensive talent and now more than in the years before have the firepower you need in European big matches. Sane, Aguero, Jesus, Sterling, Bernardo Silva,KdB and David Silva is a top midfield & attack.

It really is hard to watch these lot and not get jealous or compare us to them. So annoying to see them tonk the rest of the league. Even when they get beat, it's by the only team and manager that are bigger twats. I hope Mourinho and the rest of the team look at this and are prepared for next season accordingly. We can't spend as much as we do and still be this far behind City.

And you really think Guardiola would make this lot perform like that? If you do you are delusional, other than the higher ammount he spent on city he also had the right players, he chose Manchester City he would never go to Manchester United cause he would fail... unless a complete squad overhaul occured. Tell me please how his system would work with this back four that can't even pass the ball one meter infront of them, that alone requires 130 plus million for Center backs lol.

Meh, I'd rather have them winning the PL+CL double for the next 3 years than Liverpool winning one of them once.

When is the last time a team won the PL in this dominant a fashion?

Not improbable. Didn't we win by 11 points in Fergie's last season only to finish 7th the season after? Chelsea last year too finished quite a bit ahead of everyone else and they're struggling this season.

Let's not get our knickers in a twist here. You can question the heart & courage of many of Wenger's Arsenal sides. This side tonight is probably the worst of the lot.

Let's not forget that this City side were beaten by Wigan recently. Could you really see Wigan troubling Barca, Real or Bayern if they played. City have been the best team in what has been a poor PL. The CL is a totally different ball game though.

Have you seen Real in their league this season?

Looking at this City side has convinced me that at this stage of his career, the game has caught up with Mourinho ... and in a couple of years it will pass by him completely.
His demeanor has deteriorated big time ... From being a lovable rogue, he has become an annoying irritant.
Also, his style of play is terrible ... In hindsight, I'm glad we sacked him when we did.

Dont bother with them. It's the same in every thread.
I could care less about them and their plastic Pl win, yeah congratulations after spending 550 million on the already best squad in the league.
They only have like 15 league titles and 30 major honours to be anywhere near us.

Poor PL? Pull the other one pal. This seasons Champions league shows just how strong English clubs are this season, you have the world's best coaches coaching them so they should be (Jose/Pep/Klopp/Conte/Poch etc), City are something special though.

A good portion of the teams remaining in the CL are either a) the English teams they've annihilated in the league or b) demonstrably worse than the English teams they've annihilated in the league. If this year's PL is poor then so is this year's CL, which makes the idea that it's a whole other ball game rather odd.

You can be disgusted all you want, but is he wrong? Are you telling me you wouldn't love it if United would have a season like this? For a supporter, this must be the stuff of dreams.
No for me it wouldn't. You slaughtered Moyes for us aspiring to be like City but some of you could do us all a favour and go to bluemoon and praise City and Pep over there. There are some of us here that don't give a shit about anything they do or achieve.
Basically a plastic club, with plastic fans and a manager that's been blessed with easy jobs everywhere he went.

There's more to supporting United than just constantly winning. Our rivalry with City is one of them.

Fawning over City? Not in a million years. Embarrassing.

Completely different. Moyes was the manager, of course you don't want him coming out with that in public. But he was not actually wrong, was he? We should aspire to reach their level, and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging that. Just like when Mourinho's first Chelsea side raised the bar in the Premier League, Fergie understood he had to improve to beat them, and he did. Just like when Mourinho arrived at Madrid and was destroyed by Guardiola. He knew he had to reach that level and he did.

If Mourinho isn't looking at this City side thinking of ways to improve our side and reach that level, I'd be very concerned.

Really? so when Chelsea won in 2005/06 you didn't give a shit? you were completely uninvested emotionally in the title race and cared not when it became apparent that United could not win the league mathematically? you were just cheery and hoping we'd get 2nd place and not caring who was the league winner? good thing SAF doesn't have your mentality aye? The reality is, so long as you follow the EPL, there is going to be a champion and why would United fans not want us to be champions?

I'm sure Barcelona or Madrid, Bayern Munich will deal with them. They don't have the nous at that level to win the CL. They're still babies in that regard so I wouldn't worry about that.

Still wouldn't have this City team in the top 5 ever PL sides though, would you? Not yet anyway.
They are clearly playing the best football ever, scoring the most and getting the most points - so of course they are. In terms of longevity, no, but how can we discard them based on future events?

The only assuring thing is that they have done all of this because of money, so let’s hope it fades away instead of ending with a dynasty.

A very naive post to be honest, Pep would have had three transfer windows and tons of cash to spend - so there’s that? You can at least add the players he has bought and go from there, as well as the types we don’t have. If City didn’t have de Bruyne, he’d buy de Bruyne or the one closest to him in terms of talent.
