I don't see why. He was poor most of last season and he's been poor most of this season as well.

It's a nonsense story though. No way Real would be interested in him.
Most fans don't watch every single game and believe most of the narrative the media paint. It'd be sold as nasty Mourinho doesn't give magnificent English hot shot the chance to shine etc etc. No way the club let it happen.

The "increase" a player's age thing posters on Redcafe do, has already started then.

28 in the summer, which is probably peak full back age. Mediocre is a ludicrous comment, he's arguably the best in the league.
Injury prone is a little strong, but he does have injury doubts I agree.

When you're currently switching between veteran converted wingers, and a youngster who has been here 4 years and still has massive doubts over his fitness and attitude, it wouldn't be a bad option.

Sandro sounds a better bet though, but would he want to leave Juve?
I thought he was a year older than he was - my mistake, admit that. As for his qualities - by world-class standard, Danny Rose is far from great. If he had been 22 years old, I wouldn't have worried about it - I would have seen him as having great potential - but he isn't. He should be (as you pointed out) at the peak of his career

So what is he good at ? He is quick - he is solid defensively, but not great. He contributes very little offensively, especially compared to how often he is around the oppositions goal. People complain about Valencia's end-product, but what about Rose ? He has an average of maybe 3 assists each season, in his entire career he has scored 9 League goals for Spurs. And let's not forget that Spurs actually has a striker who actually converts chances.

If we sign Danny Rose - we will get a 28 (ok he is 28 in the summer - I will at least give you that) fullback. Who scores an average of 1 goal each season - who gets 3 assists each season (With Harry Kane as a striker) - who is poor in the air, and who historically is likely to miss at least 1/3 of all matches each season. Am I saying that Danny Rose is a poor player - but is he a lot better than Young and Shaw ? And is he likely to improve ? Answer to both questions would be no.

Who uses goals and assists as stats for defenders?
Well clearly it seems highly relevant when we have an attacking play which doesn't work. What we however don't have is a problem defending. So to improve our team - it seems logical, that our new fullbacks attacking skills should be highly relevant. Most fullbacks can defend - I want some who can actually contribute more going forward.

Steve Bates in the Mirror says we're willing to sell Pogba to buy Varane, Kroos and Sandro, with Marquinhos and Veratti as back up options.

As if we would need to sell first to buy those. We've got shitloads of money waiting to be spent.

We're not selling Pogba with Carrick and Herrera probably leaving as well.
Pogba is the face of Utd and the source of our team spirit, poor Lingard would be lost without him.
God damn they're milking this to cover international week.

A few things to consider:

1. World Cup year

2. Shorter transfer market time frame due to rule changes

3. Ed Woodward's tendency to hassle over a few mil

All this adds up makes me worry about our summer transfer window.

Like we really need to sell Pogba to buy 5 other players. That skint, are we?

Load of bull, reporter pulls names out of his arse and links us with them.

If you read and believe the media, we are signing about thirty players in the summer. It’s all bollocks and speculation as usual.

Jose will give Woodward another list of three or four players, Woodward will cock it up and Jose will be compromised again.
Yup, what could have been if Woody didn't feck up buying Perisic :( We'd have steamrolled the league and Europe :(

Absolutely spot on.

In modern football, attack starts from the back. We need ball playing 'attacking' defenders. They will make a big difference in the way we attack. Merely stopping the ball from entering your post and hoofing it out when there is danger is one thing. Keeping possession under pressure, finding the right passes to the midfielders and frequently bombarding forward and making pin point crosses to the strikers, is a different ball game.

Kind of funny that Everton is a dumping ground for Manchester United to offload a player.

I reckon Jones will leave before Smalling. Jose seems to like the latter more. I don't mind Smalling but he shouldn't be a starter, he'd be a fantastic backup/rotation option.

Jones started the season as first choice, but he keeps getting injured as usual.

Yup a quadruple with Perisic scoring 58 goals in all comps, winning the Ballon D'or and soon a statue outside OT.
Woody, you ruined it all !

Football journalists are provocing me like crazy, it’s as low as it’s ever been. All formerly good sites are just about clicks and revenue - a damn shame. Formerly credible journalists making up stuff to stay relevant. Pathetic, there really should be a debunking site where each and every journalist is kept under watch.

1. Why the hell would Kroos leave Real Madrid? Has won like three Champions Leagues, lives in Spain, earns a shitload of cash and is living the dream. Real Madrid is the pinnacle and Kroos is the first on the team sheet.

2. Umtiti leaving Barcelona for United? See above point, Barcelona is also the pinnacle, you’re playing every week, live in Spain and play with Messi. Come on!

3. Bayern buying Kane for 200M? In what world will Bayern spend 200M on one player? In what world would Kane go to Bayern instead of Real Madrid? English players rarely go to Germany, and vice versa for their best players. Made up crap news.

Pretty sure the Umtiti stories come from his agent as he’s negotiating a new deal with Barca. Journos will always publish those stories for favour with agent in future.

Re. Points 1 and 2 you are probably right, but also its not impossible. Showing ambition involves trying to better yourself, and that includes aiming high. If you don't even try then you'll never get. Look at how a crappy club like City have got some of the world's best players and one of the worlds best manager. If they had the same attitude you have then they'd never have got anywhere.

Re. Point 3, Bayern can afford it. The only reason to doubt it'd happen is because historically they tend to be more shrewd in the transfer market and not spend vast sums of money. Presumably that will evdntually have to change if they are to stay competitive with the best teams in Europe.
