I hate Liverpool and seeing them win or the prospect of them winning is horrible for me. They are a real club, with real values and will have deserved what success is attained so I hope City take them down. I barely give a shit about City nor should anyone outside of their own fans.

City is and always will be what they are, a club based solely on Arab oil-money. It doesn’t hurt me, their fans’ opinions don’t interest me, I don’t know a single City-fan here in Norway.

Our average attendances in the 82/83 season was less than 40,000 . It was more a reflection of the City's political and economical struggles than fans not being arsed going.

City are one of the best teams in world football but the size of the club is miniscule compared to others. The other clubs in the Premier League top 6 are all bigger clubs than City, the top teams in every other major league are bigger than City and a few of the teams in minor European Leagues (Olympiakos, Ajax, Fenerbache, Galatassary, Porto etc) are all bigger clubs than City.

I assure you that Van Gaal's United shat themselves regularly without any sort of pressure from a hostile atmosphere. They managed to be terrible just fine regardless of the opposition fans.
And I remember well that before we played Chelsea away in one of the European games the club put plastic flags on every seat in the ground and had to encourage their fans to make an atmosphere in the programme.

Iam on about European nights so I must be speaking about the Europa game and yes you shat it. The media even picked up on it and write articles on some United players looking over their shoulders singing when lining up before the game.
I understand that you meant the EL. I still think it's rubbish and convenient media narrative to claim it was the atmosphere that caused United to play shite, in a season when we played shite with an almost admirable consistency.
Anfield 'atmosphere' is all about the pre-match build up. I've been several times and that is the only thing that stands out. Anfield is like every other club with a good sized stadium, large parts of the stadium is filled with casual fans that are more concerned with taking pictures and videos instead of singing.
There was an interview on RedmenTV from a regular match going fan that said that he's experienced the atmosphere deteriorate over time, and that's not the only account.

Its very difficult to predict a score as it could be anything. I think the only certainty is that LIverpool will need to be very, very good over two games to beat City. Anfield will be an intimidating place for the City players so its a question of their character as their footballing ability speaks for itself.

The "we're going to intimidate Man City into crumbling"/ "look at our magical welcome coach parade" lines are so cringe-inducing. Its as though they believe their own lies about their atmosphere. City have plenty of players from South America/players who have played in hostile European derbies for former clubs. The fans over here are tame in comparison.
Forget South America, City have been to Napoli this season and i think even the biggest Liverpool fan would admit Anfield even at its best doesn't hold a candle to the Stadio San Paolo.

It's not just about noise. Support in Europe is manufactured; often led by an orchestrator or done ritually.
Support in England is completely different. The fans are in sync and adjust to the side's momentum accordingly - you can look at Dortmund 15/16 or Chelsea 04/5 for examples of how this manifested at Anfield. Or even the way the intensity of the atmosphere changed when blood was smelt against Man City in January and they conceded 3 goals in 8 minutes. See Guardiola's quotes about how they got the 'lost in the emotion of Anfield' after that game. Completely different to having a band of ultras banging on a drum for 90 minutes, and it's what makes English football atmosphere - and by extension Anfield, unique.
I do agree with that, but I just don't see how that's exclusive to just Liverpool as some would make you believe.
I was at that game in the away end and I can assure you it wasn't as great an atmosphere you are making it out to be.
Utd were just very poor that game and it had absolutely nothing to do with atmosphere.
Trust me, places like Stadio Olympico, San Siro and Stade Velodrome are far more intimidating than Anfield.
I'd say that out of the top 6 clubs, that kind of atmosphere can only be created at Anfield these days. Not too often - but it has done on various occasions in Europe.
This is where I probably disagree mate. There is nothing special or magical about Anfield. It's a stadium full of 1000's of other passionate supporters just like any other of the top 6's stadiums. Liverpool fans don't have louder voices than other sets of fans and they aren't disproportionately more passionate than them either. Any ground given the right circumstances like you say can be loud and intimidating. I honestly think you only feel that way because you support Liverpool and its a falsity thats perpetuated quite often; especially by your own fans.

I think official attendance is calculated by tickets sold, not number of people at the games.
They probably have some season ticket holders who can’t be arsed going.
