Incredibly positive news to start the day. The guy is an absolute winner on and off the field. I'm sure he'll recover fully in a few months

There's only one United!
Daily Mail:

The former Manchester United manager still remains in intensive care but is doing well on the road to recovery.

Sir Alex is out of his unconscious state and he is showing encouraging early signs of recovery following the emergency surgery. The report also indicates that the former Manchester United manager has been able to sit up and converse with some family and friends who visited him at the Salford Royal Hospital, where he is admitted.

Although things seem positive at the moment, there has been no information as to when he will be discharged.

Fantastic news, honestly made my day.

Strange really that I care THIS much for him, been so worried and down the past few days as if he was a close relative to me or something... I guess that's how much he's meant for this club aswell.

It's still early days but fantastic news if true, naturally it will be a long road to recovery but hopefully he gets stronger each day, keep fighting Fergie, I know you will!

It's probably helped that he worked so late and kept fit. At 76 he is probably as healthy as people 25 years his junior.

I seriously hope that DM report is accurate, if so it is fantastic news.

I haven't been logged in on the Cafe since Friday, and after hearing the news about Sir Alex on Saturday nothing else mattered football wise for me. All I was interested in was how he was, when were we going to be hearing more news, would he be okay in the long run and so many other questions. It's crazy how someone you don't know personally can mean so much to you, and Sir Alex certainly is that for me. I adore the man, and he is one of the major reasons I fell in love with this club. On top of that, he is a magnificent man and human being, as can be attested from all the stories from all sorts of people since Saturday and the amount of well wishes from inside and outside the world of Football. As I said earlier, until we hear officially about Sir Alex and until he is truly on the way to recovery I find it difficult to care for anything like who is playing on Thursday / transfers / results and so on. But if we do win the FA Cup, it absolutely should be dedicated to the Boss with every best wish.

Fingers and toes crossed for you Boss, you will win this fight, you tough, magnificent, Govan born and bred Scottish Red Devil

I’ve been constantly looking at and refreshing this thread as if it was a transfer muppet signing thread praying for some good news to break through.

I’m absolutely delighted he’s out of the coma and is interacting. Will obviously still be in intensive care for the time being but it’s great early signs thus far.

Huge well done to all the doctors and nurses that helped save this great mans life. The work these folk do is simply extraordinarily!

Going to the game this Saturday against Watford and really hope the atmosphere is great for the boss and everyone gets right behind him and also the team.

Early days, but sounds like he's on the road to recovery, which is obviously great news.

Cristiano, if you're reading this, the positive news from Salford Royal should not be taken as an excuse to slack-off in the final!

I want to wait for more concrete reports or until more papers start corroborating but if true then feck yes.

I remember when Letterman came back after his surgery he brought the team that saved him on the Late show. Maybe fergie can give the doctors and nurses a game or two and then hopefully take over from United again fulltime. "Joshiiiiiii....Goal!!!"
