Not a fan of this kind of signing given where we are. Tbh i would rather us pay over the odds for proven players right now, then start signing 19yo RBs when we have a solid 16/17 players
True, but you never know. Liverpool have two very young fullbacks and are doing well so it can be done.

Happy with this one, pretty much a Caf wet dream, young, unknown, cheap and massive potential.

Full back is a young mans game, hopefully he'll get chances and become our first choice RB quite early on.

Good to see that our revamped scouting department is doing some work. There's literally nothing to complaint about this deal.
I personally think its Jose's contacts in Portugal who have fed information about this player to him rather than the revamped scouting network. Jose has very deep contacts in Portugal specially Porto. Regardless, will be a good signing for the price.

I never see TFM as a Complete Right back or Wingback but more of a right sided central defender in a 3 Man defense. He would be a decent full back when adapts to English game and our team. The deliveries seem to be great.

I like this. Hopefully we play Young on the right instead of Valencia though, I can't handle another year of him. Wonder what happens to TFM too.
For all the caf youth player love in, I don't think that guy will make it here. Seems people don't mind that he's CP's second choice RB but still wants us to play him regardless because he's from the academy

Surely his name is pronounced Ga-dow, with a silent T?

It shouldn't matter but these things really annoy me, for example how Salah became Salarr halfway through last season, and the whole Aiden Azar debacle.

Same here, actually buzzing from the videos of him. I know it's YouTube but he looks to have a great cross in him and great control.

It would probably need a d in his surname for that.

One for the future but nothing to get too excited about. Don't know what else there is tyo say on it really. We still need at least one top fullback.

Gal Gadot pronounces her surname phonetically.

As far as I know, Portuguese is largely phonetic, hence “Jo-say” rather than “Ho-say”. As far as I’m aware Dalot doesn’t have any French roots, so it should be “Dalot”

Thanks, I can see the logic in this.

According to wikipedia the T is pronounced like an upside down omega. Which is completely missing from the Portuguese phonetic alphabet on Wikipedia

NOOO!!! Im so sad. As an FC Porto Fan i cant believe this is happening, we just sold Ricardo Pereira to Leicester... i thought we had his sub in Dalot for years to come. How can FC Porto let Dalot get to this point of only 1 year left in his contract? I simply cannot understand.

On another note, if he has to go out, at least Man Utd is a great destination, I believe he will be Valencia sub in the near future, I really rate Dalot.

I’m sad :(

Hate to dampen the mood in here, but this signing is so Bebe. Barely a few youtube clips, played only a few games, young unknown linked to Man Utd out of nowhere.

I'm skeptical, and hoping to be proven very wrong.

Hard to judge, because he is such an unknown quantity but the fact we are in for young talent has to go down as a positive.

Be interesting whether he starts many games or will jose trust Valencia for one more year. I do feel we need less of Valencia, so we will see.

I'd have preferred a more established RB but likes of Cancelo, Sidibe seem very pricey and who knows if they'll make it anyway.

Appears to be a good move, hope he settles quicker than Lindelof who also came from the same league

Are we are all supposed to be excited about this signing. Never heard of him, but at least we have cover and someone to challenge Valencia.

I hoped we had a coach who wanted to win trophies and improve our team selection so yes. Just like I hop(ed) Young would lose his starting position aswell.

But who I'am kidding right, we are Manchester United, we don't do that trophy winning stuff anymore.
Why the feck are posters like this allowed on the board? We were just in an FA cup final and won two trophies last year ffs.

Nothing like bebe whatsoever, only similarity is you personally don't know anything about either of the players.

I get the feeling you are usually very wrong. Imagine comparing any young Portugese player you never heard of to Bebe.

He's a Porto prospect who looks to have done well in the 7 or so games he's started and undoubtedly has an U21 career which people can look at as potential.

Bebe was playing for a lower Portuguese liga side when we signed him not a top 2 Portuguese side with CL football.

Honestly, don't know much about him and I hate to judge on Youtube clips, but I like what I saw. Confident on the ball, ability to beat players, not afraid to cross the ball, two footed so covers both sides and seemingly isn't going to cost us too much in today's market..... Sensible signing. Hope he's allowed to continue playing that way.....

If he's any good, this would be ideal. He would be an understudy to Valencia for 2-3 years until he's ready. And we're getting him for 17m.

How is it like Bebe? This chap has played for the Portuguese under 17s while Bebe had played in a homeless world cup.

Why? Because you haven’t heard of him before? There are feck all right backs out there, this is a good move from us. Ribalta might have something to do with this signing.

There a long production line of good fullbacks to have come from Porto. Jose has his links there and wouldn't sign a mediocre talent imo.

He looks physically developed for 19 and I've already seen enough to suggest his crossing is superior to Tony V.

He's not more unknown as Fred etc is to this forum, if we're being honest.
He could have played 50 games for Porto and we would still be in the dark about him.
