Never mind that, can you BELIEVE we're putting Kohler on our sleeves? This must be some sort of sick joke. We should just have 'Sharp' written all over the jersey in different fonts.
They should bring back the viewcam just for us.

I'd rather a traditional right winger than someone who drifts in at every opportunity. Space behind Lukaku is already congested with Sanchez cutting in from the left and Pogba preferring to be in a similar location.

Agreed, we havent had a proper RW in years.
As good as players like Griezmann and Savic are, I dont see how they fit in our team structure.

It would make us quite narrow but with actual fullbacks that can both defend and get down the line properly, it would be mitigated somewhat.

I don't think it can be understated just how much our current options hamper us in different ways.

Not that I think he'll come anyway unless it really was a cert last year before Athleti got a ban.
New full-backs should help massively, for sure. Still, I think an attack where none of the forwards can really offer penetration through dribbling might not be the best idea. Every top attack should have someone like that imo. Barca have Messi and Dembele, City have Sterling and Sane, Real have Ronaldo (less so these days), Isco and Bale, Juve have Costa and Dybala, Bayern have Robben and Ribery, PSG have Neymar and Mbappe, Chelsea have Hazard, etc. All players that are/were capable of beating one or two men on their own and stretching the play when needed. I figured that it would be Sanchez for us, but he barely tries to beat his man lately and seems to have slowed down. I'll wait until next season to decide whether it's a decline or just fatigue though.

Different level of player obviously, but I remember a game (might have been West Ham away) where we paired Sanchez with Mata as the wide attackers and they spent most of their time passing it about in the middle because they couldn't get past their marker. On the counter, they'd probably be great, but we'll be on the front foot in a lot of games against a low block, which is where we might see problems every now and then.

Let me make it clear that I'm not saying Griezmann would be a disaster here. It could work out, but, unless we go back to a 4231, I don't feel he's the ideal option for us as some are saying.

Great - Shift Sanchez to the right, where he has played the best football at Arsenal.
We all know Mourinho will not do that, as he didnt last season. A better bet would be to keep Sanchez on the left where he's comfortable, Lukaku up top, and buy a proper right winger. Someone like Bale or Mahrez. We'll probably play with 3 mids(Matic, Fred & Pogba) so there's no place for a supporting striker in our system either.

We need a right winger/someone to play on the right. Griezmann plays more centrally and is more of a second striker.
Salah plays on the right but spends most of his time coming into the middle. Likewise Sterling who got 20+ goals this season. Wingers like these guys don't need to stay wide they are very comfortable basically being strikers who start on the right side

Completely agree. While we can probably play well with Griezmann, Alexis and Lukaku up top, it would be much wiser to get a play who is more explosive and more of a dribbler.

Griezmann will work hard defensively as well, so him as a RW could be a sufficient foil to cover for Valencia's (and Dalot's assuming he isn't ready yet) deficiencies.

But Reddit though. Mad if it is true.

I won't be surprised if we signed him. I think Jose will persist with Sanchez on the left despite my profound reservations! Perhaps Jose sees him as a Mata upgrade, someone who can play right/central.

I think Matic's was the best in that regard, just ended up finding a pic of him on twitter with United training gear that everyone thought was photoshopped, then announced a bit later.
There was at least rumours beforehand though, whereas Lukaku had looked Chelsea from the start.
Still ridiculous all those stories late on about how Chelsea hadn't given up. Made them look right plums.

The guy who started this rumor said the Kholer sleeve sponsorship with United would happen last week and it hasn't yet.
Epic timing, with the first story out about it today in the twitter thread

So he's clearly got some inside knowledge, but firstly this was probably the easier of the two things to be sure of, and even when transfers are agreed in principle things can change.
We have to wait.

That Reddit guy seems pretty plausible. I’m of the opinion that Griezmann would have joined us if Atléticos transfer ban didn’t happen, but it did happen which then meant we probably had to act fast to get Lukaku hence why it came out of nowhere one day when everyone thought he was Chelsea bound. I’m interested to see how this team would operate if he joins. I’m guessing a trident of Sanchez and Griezmann on the left and right respectively and Lukaku up the middle, with the ability to interchange positions during the game.

Is Griezmann as effective out on the right wing as he seemingly is up the middle these days? I remember him starting out as a right winger but then got moved centrally where the goals really started to flow.

I’m skeptical about buying class players for the sake of buying them because they were available at the time. I hope Jose has a legitimate plan to put him in a starting XI and have the team operately smoothly as time goes on. I don’t want Griezmann if he’s going to a square peg in a round hole,.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
What if it's just a marketing thing from Kohler ?
That is what I'm wondering as well.

Gets their name out there and sticking in people's minds, and it'll stay there even if this rumour turns out to be rubbish. It's not like it'll come back to hurt them. After all, it's just some random reddit user, nothing to do with Kohler themselves. *wink wink*

Alternatively, it could easily be somebody who knew about the Kohler sponsorship (which would have a larger group of people in the know) and wanted to pretend to have a scoop. This is probable the most likely scenario.

Or who knows, maybe it'll turn out to be legit after all.

I’ve read all that guys posts and I actually think there might be some truth to it, he seems to be very confident in himself.

I’m not getting excited but It’s an interesting scenario anyway whichever way it plays out.

Don't see why Kohler would go through this effort to do some viral marketing when they're going to get the same and more publicity the second the sponsorship deal is announced or the players walk out onto the pitch at the start of the season.

Posting messages on Reddit doesn't seem to benefit them at all after the money they've spent to go on our sleeves.

My biggest issue with this is how little smoke there is about what is a massive potential deal.
you would hear any sort of interest by us if we were in advanced talks. This is not a transfer that will come out of nowhere, the momentum will build up over time. He will stay or move to Barca, believing in a random reddit poster is clutching at straws. I havent seen any half reliable link to Griezmann since last summer

You could say the same thing about Lukaku. Morata was all but done (he even dyed his hair red and thought he was coming) and we confirmed Lukaku just like that. Everyone was reporting Lukaku to Chelsea was inevitable as well.

Lukaku is different though. We had many reports last year on Griezmann, so you would expect reports again, seeing as the parties involved havent changed. You still see plenty of rumours to Barca or staying, but none to United. I think it is not surprising to say we are looking for Bale rather than Griezmann.

I still think the Reddit guy might have been given some information and is passing it on in good faith. Maybe through casual small talk.

You know how it is, though, and the Griezmann stuff is probably just different snippets of information being connected incorrectly.

There was some journos saying we were after Lukaku though, especially very early on, the majority were saying Chelsea, but there were some at least who said we were very interested.

The groundwork for the Griezmann transfer would have been done last season, so only when in the final stages would you hear something concrete. Add to this that most reports are made up for clicks and views, means that the Bale transfer will probably a greater focus since it's a new development.

I don't think he's coming, since there have been reliable reports in Spain that he's had discussions with Barca. But our signings have been quite difficult to predict under Mourinho, we seem to work on multiple players at once and often use players as diversions for our real targets.

Imagine what this club would do for a social media induction video if Griezmann or Bale signed? You'd need to put aside £50 million for the production budget, Woodward would be so happy.

It happened :lol::lol:
I just had a look at few tweets who mention we're about to announce Kohler deal and they are full of Griezmann pictures in replies

You have to love the internet sometimes! Would bet it will now get picked up by some journo from Metro, Express, etc
