Where did you hear that? Since it will probably be either Reus or Özil sitting out.Wish we got South Korea in the opening match instead. Mexico is arguably the toughest opponent in the group and they always perform well in the World Cup, only missing out on goal difference to Brazil for the top spot in 2014. Not sure why Löw is not starting Reus, Germany badly need speed and there seems to be no speed in this team. Apparantely Ozil won't be starting as well. Hope it has nothing to do with the Erdogan scandal and I just hope this whole shitstorm would not ruin the atmosphere in the team. Here's hoping Ozil or Gundogan score a match winning goal to get back into the fans' good book. Come on Deutschland.
Is the term Die Mannschaft really a thing in Germany?Where did you hear that? Since it will probably be either Reus or Özil sitting out.
Bild (who often had moles in DIE MANNSCHAFT) have reported that the first team during the final training match was Neuer - Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector - Khedira, Kroos - Müller, Özil, Draxler - Werner
exactly as one would expect with that silly guarantee for Draxler.
Of course, everyone loves using it!!Is the term Die Mannschaft really a thing in Germany?
Always wondered where the sudden need to get a 'brand name' came from.Of course, everyone loves using it!!
Already read it a couple of times here. It makes me cringe everytime a bit more. Nobody in Germany calls the national team "Die Mannschaft", i.e. "the team". Someone already explained it in another thread, it is just about the marketing, not a historically grown concept or something comparable. Just incredibly annoying. It should be automatically blocked like an insult on this forum. Is the term Die Mannschaft really a thing in Germany?
Wow, you could probably cut glass with that sarcasm...Of course, everyone loves using it!!
I'm at a wedding that day and i'm not argentinian, i'm german.
It's only a thing because we're super bad at marketing as we're so pragmatic and not so great at creating stars/shining brand names. So when the international media started using that term, the German federation must've not been able to believe their luck. Finally Germany has something like "Selecao" "3 Lions" or "Equipe Tricolore". They instantly jumped at the opportunity of using that term themselves and have done so ever since. It's really not a term that originated in Germany, it's just the German word for "the team". No one used it as a brand name till a few years ago.Is the term Die Mannschaft really a thing in Germany?
So accurate
I read it in some reports that Ozil could possibly be dropped for Draxler because of an injury he had during training. Nothing personal it seems. Seems like Ozil would play today. Hope he puts in a stellar performance and even better score a goal to redeem himself with the country and fans. What do you reckon of Germany's chance for this World Cup and for the match today? Every Germans I've spoken to seem so pessimistic.Where did you hear that? Since it will probably be either Reus or Özil sitting out.

Some people don’t have last names ending with -ic, just like some Swedes have names that don’t end with -sonWhy is Kolarov the only Serb without an '-ic' at the end of his name?
His ancestors have probably a non Serbian background i assume (Macedonian or Bulgarian)? Why is Kolarov the only Serb without an '-ic' at the end of his name?
Not everyone ends with -ic in that part of the world. See dzeko or Visca for Bosnia, Vida or Pjaca for Croatia. Why is Kolarov the only Serb without an '-ic' at the end of his name?
So it's just a random thing, rather than some interesting twist in his family history? Not everyone ends with -ic in that part of the world. See dzeko or Visca for Bosnia, Vida or Pjaca for Croatia.
Huh?Ivanovic and Tosic, maybe Tosic starts because of his wife dunno what else can it be, him being football player cant be one.
How come they still allow him to play with them? white textWhy is Kolarov the only Serb without an '-ic' at the end of his name?
