I thought sporting director/DOF is what he was being brought here to eventually do. Had high hopes for him and what he could hopefully bring to the club but maybe he felt his skills were better served elsewhere as I wouldn’t say as of right now we are really a club that would probably use his suggestions on players all that seriously.

Every thread just seems full of fabrication why something bad is happening and why it's Jose's fault, it's not even reflection its proper sun level make up a story. Summer heat is turning people wierd

He'll be getting paid a fair bit more for doing a similar job, of course he'd move.

That said, it seems we went around the whole 'rebuilding behind the scenes' thing at 80%. Needed Director of Football to make it complete and we had been linked to a few but never went through with it. We don't even know if Dalot was his recommendation - we do have a first team scout in Portugal who has been at the club for two years. Either way we won't miss him and won't know the real reasons for him leaving unless he says.
How do you know we won't miss him?

I reckon Jose pissed on his chips. Literally in the canteen, got his pork sword out and urinated all over them.

It's as likely to be true as much of the shite posted on here recently

It would be a no brainer if it was a top club in a nice location, but going to Russia after a year at United, hmmm
Plenty of Italians have gone there over the years, players and managers/staff. He has no affiliation to United, it's just a job for him. A promotion with experience is really a no brainer. He's moved around plenty of times. Torino for a year, AC Milan for 2 years, Novara Calico for a year leading to his longest spell of 5 years at Juve. That's life.

Why does everything that happens, good or bad, have to be constantly blown out of proportion on the forum these days?
We in the UK and most of Europe, live in a capitalist Western society where we've all never had so much leisure time. Early humans had finding water, food and avoiding predators or invading rival tribes to fill 20 hours a day when they weren't trying to sleep.

In the absence of real threats, we latch on to any kind of lesser threat and amplify it to defcon 5.

At least that's my theory as a psychologist.

Some of the reactions on here  . You would think Fergie was leaving the club. Ribalta hasn't done shit for this club, he can leave and we will move on.
It’s the same crowd trying to latch on to anything negative to support their other rantings. They are never around when the rumours turn out to 99% BS or they will revel in it if it’s true. Never known a bunch like it who take pleasure in it.

Fair point, Dalot must be Ribalta`s work.

Wich makes this even wierder if he leaves.
No one knows for sure. However both Dalot and Mourinho are Portuguese who worked with Porto. Sure Mourinho left long ago but surely he must have kept tabs with his former club especially since he's a legend there. If I am betting man then I'd say that Dalot is more of a Mourinho signing then a Ribalta one.

Now Ribalta signed with us in July 2017 so we can safely say that all signings made in the summer of 2017 weren't his as he needed time to bed in. We signed Sanchez in 2018, Dalot (which I think is Mou's signing), Fred and Grant. We were also heavily linked with Sandro, Bonucci, Toby and Macguire. Considering that Fred, Sandro, Bonucci, Toby and Macguire are known talent, do we really need an elite scout to unearth Grant from the dustbin?

Also I learnt lately from AC Milan fans that Bonucci's son is very ill and he will never consider leaving the area unless he's ok (he might consider Paris though as its close to Milan). So if United spent ages trying to sign him up only to learn that he won't consider moving to OT because of it then surely they would be pissed off big time about it. A decent agent would surely know that.

I think a lot of it is down to repressed sexual desires.

Luckily cinna's mum is working hard to redress the balance one pump at a time

If the targets are all established players im sure you or me could do a job as chief scout after Ribalta leaves.

I would just deliver a note with all the Football Manager talents and go on holiday.;)

It's just an easy thing to say to get clicks and get us all riled up, isn't it? Typical Journo stuff. Who needs proof when you can get people raging so easily.

Some young players from Norway, Embalo, Barella, Pellegrini, Soler, Rafael Leao, Nikola Moro we are linked with. We have already scouted them especially Embalo, Leao, Moro, Soler.

Luckhurst finds any excuse to put the club down (see: when we arrived late for the West Ham or Spurs game a few years ago and he was demanding us to be fined or some shit). At Zenit he'll be on a higher pay with a role of more importance (Sporting director). Why wouldn't he move?

Yeah, and they’re all on here tossing about names of players no ones ever heard of like *footballing confetti*

*think he plays left back for some third division Italian team*

Sounds like he was offered a promotion and took it. Of course every journo is going to link this to our lack of transfers and use it as click-bait as is the case with all United news.

Barella, Soler, Moro and Pellegrini are quite decent players. However you can't blame the club for not pursuing such deals considering that we've already signed Fred. I don't know about the rest.

Mourinho had made it quite clear that he wanted a RB, a CB and a LB. Its up to the chief scout to find the names and accommodate the manager with the players he need not viceversa. If Toby, Harry, Bonucci and Sandro were the only names he could come up with in those roles then he had failed big time.

I doubt he had any real influence and wasn’t at the club long enough to have any impact.

When he joined I didn’t see him having any influence over the first team, thought he might have been brought in to sign young players who could be loaned out and developed for future but that never happened.
