Why would Maguire be first choice if Toby is available? Particularly if he's available for 55m when Maguire would cost 60+? This is insane. If we screw around here we may end up with neither or panicking and spending 80m on Maguire. Either would be an absolute travesty given the amount of time we've had to make a decision.
CB isn't that important imo. It's certainly a position we can afford to miss out strenghtening.

What is going on? we are all over the place. World record is 75 million. Don't tell me we're going to bid over that.
Exactly. It's not true. Looks like either United are just trying to prompt Spurs to sell Toby or Sky are looking for more interest in the betting markets. Either way, no matter how non-league level United's transfer team is, we're not paying over 30m for Harry Maguire.

If Leicester sign a CB, then I would start to panic but right now I feel it's SSN making shite up.
I mean if we are actually interested, why haven't we bid? The window closes in 5 days but we are still preparing a bid?
Also I thought we 'knew' an offer of 65 mill plus is required, suddenly we 'know' it will take 75 million plus. How are we knowing this if we are not bidding? There has been not a single report of a bid rejected yet we know what to bid

Maguire now and Alderweireld next summer when his buyout clause is in effect?

If he was our number 1 target, why the feck would we not just be bidding. He hasn't got the foggiest. Alderweireld - who we've been linked with for months, is our "alternative". Utter tripe.

Until proven otherwise the Maguire thing is a red herring, pretty sure it’s Toby we’re trying hard for.

Sky have been garbage for about 5 years now.

This pretty much translates to "we really need people to tune in on our deadline day farce"

I thought you 'prepare to make' bids like two weeks before the transfer window opens not five days before it closes?
Seems being a contract lawyer for United is the easiest gig in the world, giving you at least two weeks to prepare a document outlining the details of said bid, probably a group of five arguing over which font to use.

Woodward playing both angles is nothing that surpirsing or tragic but there's not that much time for further maneuvers. Days for final decisions are pretty much now... not to mention some solid effort to get Jose 2nd player would be nice.

I have reached the point of 'Toby or no one' for that center back position. The amounts being mentioned for Mina and Harry are insane.

Really just feels like none of them have any idea what we are doing, who we want the most and are talking to clubs about.

Are we the only club in the world who is "preparing" when every other club in the world which is run properly actually goes out and gets the deal done quickly?

It's BS, we aren't signing Maguire now. It's going to Alderweireld

Axel Witsel to Dortmund is finally done, according to Bild and other outlets. His Chinese club had disputed the validity of his €20m release clause, which is why lawyers got involved oer the past couple of days.

I hope Pep gets his man, the options he has are just dreadful, he really needs even more world class talent to work with, or he's destined to fail big time. Pray 4 Pep.

All the Yerry Mina talk is nonsense. His uncle is doing his best to get any top club to have a bite at him but no one's having it. Apparently he's going to have "showdown talks with Valverde", because it's the best idea to force a move to the club you want 3 days before the window closes. No one's definitely paying the 40m the Spanish media believes he will fetch.
Lucas Digne, a very important player for a great Roma side and decent rotation option for PSG and Barca went for 20m and Aleix Vidal barely hit 10m. No way anyone's paying 40m for someone who had 3 good World Cup games. United won't at the very least. Everton are unpredictable cats if there's truth to the Rojo rumours.
Yerry Mina will play a role in our potential departures though, one peek at Everton friendlies and they've been pathetic defensively against every team they've played except the 7th division Austrian side (and the fact that they found someone stupid enough to take Williams). They're definitely after a CB, and Mina holding them hostage while he hopes for Barca to welcome him back into the fold or whatever is definitely throwing their plans into the frying oil. A deadline day dash for Rojo or Jones will certainly be welcome. Let's hope Mina keeps dithering.
