I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that Pogba will do less for us than Giggs. Play fewer games for sure. I will bet money on it.
The point is let's not pretend Paul Scholes is immune to criticism. Just because Pogba's agent criticized him (just like A LOT of fans did for the same reason), it doesn't mean it reflects poorly on Pogba. It's another made-up excuse to use him as a scapegoat. Some fans were some weren't. I don't understand what's your point?
Absolutely correct. I'd rather get the next Modric than keep this blagger around - if we can get 150-200m it can be wisely reinvested. There's two options as far as I can see? Go back to 4-2-3-1 and buy a proper right winger, instead of playing three in midfield to suit Pogba, or go for a true midfield general. Like you I don't think Milinkovic-Savic is the right player. I'd love us to trigger Saul Niguez's release clause.
The club doesn't need Pogba to make money. Memphis was one of the top three shirt sellers in the world when he played for us, just because he was the Man Utd number 7.
The strength of United as a brand far outstrips any one player. In the past 15 years we've sold Beckham and Ronaldo, two players whose marketability outstrips Pogba's, it has had no impact on United's brand profile. Commercially, Pogba gains more from being a United player than United gain from having Pogba.
I do wonder what some people expect from Pogba, it seems unless he plays like Messi or Ronaldo at their best in every match he is rubbish and best got rid off.He did absolutely nothing for us during these 3 years maybe just few flashes. Never saw him play with heart and soul, always felt he just play because he has to. Maybe I'm wrong but we need to see much more from someone like Pogba.
The only thing that hints at that is his comment about "not being able to say something or he'll get fined." However, in that very same interview he mentioned he loves United. So I would assume that comment was about Mourinho, and not United the club. His latest comment about his relationship with Mou being a strict player-manager relationship hints at this too.Maybe not but current Pogbas actions certainly do imo.
I would rather keep Pogba, and also buy the next Modric.Absolutely correct. I'd rather get the next Modric than keep this blagger around - if we can get 150-200m it can be wisely reinvested.
You really think he loves United? The only thing that hints at that is his comment about "not being able to say something or he'll get fined." However, in that very same interview he mentioned he loves United. So I would assume that comment was about Mourinho, and not United the club. His latest comment about his relationship with Mou being a strict player-manager relationship hints at this too.
So I actually think Pogba's recent actions don't do that. Pogba is being made a scapegoat for things that don't directly imply him leaving United. Like I said, if I were to guess at what he wants through those comments, I would argue they emote more of his dissatisfaction with Mourinho.
Of course, if you think Mou is synonymous with United and you think the board also think Mou is synonymous with United, then yes I would agree he has hinted at him wanting away from United because in that scenario, Pogba would go before Mourinho and Pogba in that scenario would know the board think Mou is synonymous with Mourinho.
I don't actually think Pogba thinks that though, therefore I can only conclude that his recent interviews emote his dissatisfaction with Mourinho, more so than with United the club.
Jose simply said that he will be a manager for at least another 20 years and he feels that it’s impossible to stay at United for 20 years.Jose’s loyalty to the club is way more than Pogba...Wasn't referring to this particular part about the future, but in general about media talk.
He did have that stint when he was flirting with PSG tho.
This has been rebuked for days now that his recent interview doesn't suggest that at all. It's really incredible that the press is still running with completely false quotes to this day, just read another article today quoting him falsely about seeing his future in a few months. You really think he loves United?
You believe him?
I think those are empty words.
Also even if he dissatisfied with Mourinho he really should stop with the talking. And last interview implies he could leave United soon.
Yeah, the guy who craps on United whenever he has an embarrassing loss and hasn't bothered to buy a place and been living out of an hotel for the last three years has more loyalty (whatever the heck that means in today's football) than a guy who spent some of his most important formative years at United and decided to come back when he had plenty of other options. Sure.Jose simply said that he will be a manager for at least another 20 years and he feels that it’s impossible to stay at United for 20 years.Jose’s loyalty to the club is way more than Pogba...
So how much would you sell this media circus, not world class, inconsistent player for?I am probably in the minority when it comes to Pogba.
I've never got the hype, never been a big believer that he would develop his game here and have often been on here with criticism of him.
I wouldn't bat an eyelid if we sold him tomorrow at a loss. I really dislike the media circus Pogba and his agent bring. Pogba's ego and arrogance do not belong at a club like Manchester United.
When we signed him for silly money, I recall saying to a mate of mine its all well and good signing Pogba, but we need at least 2 more quality additions in midfield to add much needed depth and quality. Bar Fred & Matic we haven't really upgraded our midfield since Pogba came back. Therein lies the problem, Pogba was inconsistent at Juve - however the odd spark or "wonder goal" earned him plaudits all round. He plays better for France than he does for us? Shock. He actually cares about France and has better quality around him.
Do we have the midfield that Juve does? He could (in fact DID) very often have very poor games for Juve, but nobody really noticed because he had Pirlo/Pjanic etc and was part of a team that regularly won.
We've pinned all our hopes on Pogba being this world class midfield maestro - and its not happening.
He clearly doesn't want to be here and we are arguably no better with him. In our last game, a player I have never/will never rate in Fellaini showed the kind of work ethic that Pogba has never done. At least Fellaini gives his all
Indeed.I do wonder what some people expect from Pogba, it seems unless he plays like Messi or Ronaldo at their best in every match he is rubbish and best got rid off.
"He did nothing for us during these three years" I am not a United fan, so don't watch you guys every week. But just off the top of my head...
- Scoring in the Europa cup final
- Scoring two goals against City in the second half of that match when you were 2-0 down, he dominated the centre of the park in the second half and dragged your lot back into that game.
- The way he beat Koscielny against Arsenal and the sent in a brilliant cross for Lingard to score (yes he was later sent off but he was immense that day)
- His assist for Sanchez to score in the FA Cup semi final
- A goal and an assist against Newcastle in his first game back after a hamstring injury (I think!)
Yes he's had some poor games, but apart from the Newcastle game all the above are big big games and he's shown some real class.
Be grateful for what you've got, he'd walk into any team on the planet.
I'd take anything from 80+So how much would you sell this media circus, not world class, inconsistent player for?
Bang average? If Pogba had been average for the last two seasons, then football would be on another level. There’s very few footballers who are as influential and involved as he is.I'd take anything from 80+
I genuinely believe he is the wrong player for us.
The hype around him is insane considering he has been bang average for us for 2 seasons.
Disagree completely.Bang average? If Pogba had been average for the last two seasons, then football would be on another level. There’s very few footballers who are as influential and involved as he is.
Has he been as influential and involved at United? Haven't seen it personally.Bang average? If Pogba had been average for the last two seasons, then football would be on another level. There’s very few footballers who are as influential and involved as he is.
Pogba never played alongside Pjanic.I am probably in the minority when it comes to Pogba.

Im inclined to agree, certainly the wrong player for our current manger. I bet Jose was expecting a new Viera. To be fair Jose staunchly defended him for a long time, until reality hit he wasn't the player he wantedI genuinely believe he is the wrong player for us.
The hype around him is insane considering he has been bang average for us for 2 seasons.
Just do a deep dive into his stats in the league compared to other top midfielders around. What exactly do you want more from a central midfielder? He would walk into any team in the world which could afford him. You won’t find anyone who offers more in terms of each of shots, passes and defensive contribution. His all round game is fantastic. We are blessed to have a man who can put up numbers of a decent defensive, central and attacking midfielder all in one. If we had three Pogbas we would walk the league.Has he been as influential and involved at United? Haven't seen it personally.
I guess we're seeing different things. I'm not saying he was horrible which he wasn't but on the other hand he wasn't as good or influential as you put it. I'm not talking how good he is in theory but in practice.Just do a deep dive into his stats in the league compared to other top midfielders around. Problem is that he’s not a Lampard, who scores a a striker’s level of goals, or a Keane, who is dominating midfield presence, or a Xavi who is a passing wizard. He’s something in between and doesn’t have that obvious peak.
Pogba’s a hot month where everything goes in from people talking him up as the world’s best again. Add a handful more goals and assists for those who seemingly cannot assess a player in any other manner, and there’s nothing you can point at virtually.
Please all, tell me who you would buy who would be available who would be a certifiable upgrade on Pogba. Milinkovic-Savic seems to be of a similar profile to Pogba at a rudimentary level, and had very similar output to Pogba last year. Yet he was having his best season ever, and Pogba was terrible by all accounts. So how is that going to be any different. Another potentially brilliant all-rounder whose failing is not being Roy Race or being more specialised for easier expectation setting.
That was 3 days ago.Pogba on twitter a couple of hours ago:
"Good National Team Break, looking forward to the next one"
Sorry I can't link it yet since I don't have permission but you can see it on his Twitter feed. It gets more embarrassing from him every day.
We are now at the point where people are embarrassed by a player happy to play for his country.Pogba on twitter a couple of hours ago:

Don't be silly. He knows how this will be read. It's very poor PR work, and he doesn't care.We are now at the point where people are embarrassed by a player happy to play for his country.
Did we miss something? Don't think Pogba has that much power. The situation is simple (and massively misunderstood, I should add).
Offer Pogba as much as or more than Sanchez and all will be fine. No need to fire Jose at all. With that arrangement, we will win the league.
No, you're the one being silly. Slating a guy for looking forward to play with his country men. Sad stuff.Don't be silly. He knows how this will be read. It's very poor PR work, and he doesn't care.
He wouldn't be made captain if he's 'bang average' player. Or if he is, then others in our team are totally shite then.I'd take anything from 80+

I agreeSo some don't rate him, and can't wait to see him gone because of his inconsistency or perceived to never done anything worth during his stint here. But then, they'd quoting 150m-200m price. I mean, that's kind of ironing.
