My record at choosing managers is poor.

After Atkinson: Howard Kendall
After Ferguson: Mourinho
After Moyes: Klopp
After Van Gaal: Guardiola

So, if Jardim is my choice now, then Giggs will get the job.
In that case I better go for either Simeone or Conte, which hopefully will be the kiss of death for both of them.

Jardim but I feel it will be Zidane because of how clueless our board is.

Imagine El Loco dealing with Woodward's incompetence. He would probably defect back to Argentina in the middle of the season without telling anyone leaving us high and dry.
I do feel he's a manager who can make the most of what he's given and use the younger players as well. Woodward doesn't interfere as much in the general running of the team, only transfers. I reckon it could work.

Yeah he’s a good coach. Apparently he’s a nutter but I don’t know anything about that
Yeah, the reputation is probably down to some tactical moves that probably sounded crazy to most people. But if you think about it, some of those tactical changes have given rise to the football we see today, i.e., playing out from the back, the pressing game, attacks with pace + possesion, etc.

Here, there, everywhere...
From the ones whose work I am little aware of, Poch or Jardim are my two options. However, I wouldn't mind some internal appointment or Giggs to get the job, even if it's on temporary basis. I have not seen United under any manager before Sir Alex. Following United under him with a lot of players from the class of '92 made being a fan of this club special. It was not just the class '92, our squad transitioned many times and I felt the same affinity towards likes of O'Shea, Fletcher, Evans, Brown etc.. And not just players developed from with in, it was the same with Cantona, Big Pete, Rio, Rooney, Evra, Carrick etc.. It felt like being part of a big happy family. I never cared about press conferences, post-match comments, media, pundits or any other thing. Before Van Gaal, I don't think I ever watched a pre-match press conference. It always felt like people who care about the club more than I ever can are in charge of the club. Following United was about waiting for match days and supporting the club. I haven't had the same feeling since Sir Alex retired. Besides Rashford, I don't feel any affinity towards a single player from the current squad.

May be it's too much transition. Too much chopping and changing has never allowed us fans to develop the same affinity towards the players that have been bought or brought up by the three managers post Sir Alex. So, I know, it is a romantic notion, and most likely will end up in a disaster, but If there is a person capable then I would love for them them to be given a shot at the job, even if it's for a brief period. I don't want a new manager and completely new squad again in 2 years time.

I reckon Diego Simone would be a good call if we could tempted him and offer Atletico Madrid enough money.
One defensive coach for another? No thanks. Not to mention we don't have the players with the technical ability to transition from the bus to attack. So it would literally be us just parking the bus all over again.

I think we missed a huge suitor in Sari. Then you have Pep and Klopp already taken. The rest of the list isn't worth talking about imo.

Our only realistic chance at a top manager is Poch. Even at that, he has no winning experience even though he's squad has been better than ours for 3 years now.

Zidane has too much to prove yet and Jardim is currently managing an 18th place Monaco (Ligue 1).

Indeed. Even Simeone has more votes.
If Allegri would leave Juve is another question.
Good manager and I love him, but Juve fans are slaughtering him week in week out due to his dull football. Won't go well with our fans here.

Jardim is a good option. Would prefer him over Poch, as unlike the latter, man has actually won a league competing with the state of Qatar and also has done well enough in the CL. His current struggles with Monaco are only due to the club selling their best players and not leaving him much to work with.

Fair point. I’d give it to Butt.

But I think after 6 years we could all do with a laugh. So therefore I’m suggesting Cantona & Keane comedy act
There is part of me that thinks Keane on the staff wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Obviously it would end in Armageddon but I look at some of the listless efforts being turned in and I do think back to how Keane would drive the team on as a player and how we miss that energy and discipline. I guess the game has moved on though and we probably underestimate the mentality of even the squad players of teams gone by.

I wouldn't be devastated by a Butt type appointment (I just see the pitfalls) simply because it feels a bit like we have tried everything else. Would be nice to see some from of strategy behind it though.

I truthfully don't get anyone wanting Diego Simone. Aren't people fed up of defensive football? I fecking am.
It’s bonkers people suggesting him or Conte. They must be masochists! Why else would anyone want to continue this cycle of dire football that we’re on

I wanted Sarri, but since we slept on him the only 2 from that list are Pochettino and maybe Jardim. We need a proper coach. I like that Blanc is an Ex United player, but i am not sure he is good enough for the current United.

Anybody else apart from Pochettino will be another suicide delayed for 2 years.

If we are letting Mourinho go, it has to be Pochettino.
Another bottler who has won feck all. For all his transfer nous there's some absolute stinkers in there (Jansen etc). And he would cost the earth.

I wonder how the board feel about Zidane, allegedly, calling up Jose to say his representatives had been contacted by the Utd board.

It's like setting off a grenade in your own future. If that story is true he won't be joining Utd.

At this stage I'd let Wenger have a go. Or G Neville

Whats Keegan up to these days?

Zidane is not going to step in if Jose is sacked mid-season; just let Carrick and McKenna coach the squad until the end of the season and make the hire immediately after the final match.

If Utd fancy a stop gap until the end of the season and can prise him away from the China U21 they could always go for Gus Huddink.

I've mentioned Zidane before but that's because I genuinely don't know much about the talented up and coming coaches around. I'd love for us to bag the next top attacking manager.

Would it be completely mental to give Wenger the gig for the rest of the season with one objective: create cohesion in attack - while buying some time for a permanent manager for next season? :D

Aren't they already coaching the squad? I mean what do people think they're doing. If our players are undercoached they take some blame surely

how much say do they have in the match day tactics. I didn't watch the U-18s and it has got to be a completely different game to the premier league but McKenna set out to play a completely different style of football then what we are seeing at the first team level no?

Yes our tactics are ass but do you not see how the players are underperforming as well? No one has a first touch. Players look rusty/tired. Defenders have constant lapses. They deserve some of the blame as well.

I'd have voted for Bielsa if he was an option in the poll. I think he's a fantastic coach and analyst. It would mean a completely new way of playing for us obviously, but a 3-3-3-1 can technically work alright for us if we sign a top CB and we'd be able to compete with the likes of City, Liverpool, Spurs, etc. He's even got Leeds playing his way and they're on top of the table now.

I would gladly take Wenger till the end of the season like some of the posters on Caf have already suggested.

So what's going on with Jardim this season? Lost again tonight and his team is 18th in Ligue 1.
