Used to like McGregor until some of the shit he said in the build up to the fight. Some of the outrage towards Khabib is an example of huge double standards  I wonder why?

What are you even talking about?

team khabib's actions after the fight should trigger a suspension. This should strip him of his belt. conor is not my "boy", I don't like him and was never a fan. The fight I want to see is Tony Ferguson beating the snot out of khabib. I lost all respect for team khabib tonight.
Yeah when Conor does anything it gets brushed off. When AKA do it - they all should be arrested. Right.. not your boy.

McGregor did get arrested, convicted and sentenced though. He's also getting sued.

He should have been suspended by the UFC too but it's not like there were no consequences. Khabib will have to face his own consequences, likely a relatively lengthy suspension.

Ferguson/Pettis didn't disappoint, comfortably fight of the night as expected. People can dislike Ferguson all that they want but this dude is a warrior and consistently has fantastic fights. They might be forced to put him against the Diaz/Poirier winner at this rate if Khabib does end up suspended, although if Diaz wins that one they'll have trouble making that fight as well anytime soon

And my word the black beast never fails to disappoint with his interviews  bit of a stinker of a performance but you can never rule him out while he's still in the fight. Silly from Volkov, should have backed off towards the end knowing Lewis was going to be looking for that one huge shot...but who the feck cares, that was awesome! Cormier/Lewis likely won't ever happen but man that build up would be hilarious.

That's what we should be talking about instead of all that post fight nonsense. The guy is an absolute beast.

Why would you possibly care what anyone says about your country? That's one thing I can never understand.

Talk shit about England all you want, what does that have to do with me, just because I happened to be born here?

It's a shame as such a good card is being overlooked because of the aftermath. Thought the co-main was excellent, probably a better fight than the main. Unreal how those two kept going on.

I hope i dont get banned for this but I'd love to roll with you. I would make you suffer for 26 years until you appreciated ground game.
I appreciate that it’s part of the game, doesn’t mean I have to like it or find it entertaining.

The religion one is even stranger. If someone insulted a god I believed in he wouldn't be much of a god if cared what an mma fighter said in a pre fight build up

I depends. If we were about to fight and you start talking shit about my mum, I know you're doing it to get a reaction.
It's easy to say that sitting at your house, different when it's happening esp. at that kind of a platform. It wasn't the usual 'your mom is so fat hahaaha' stuff either. Not saying he should have reacted the way he did obviously. I just don't see any reason to go that route, and some of the stuff said/done was quite politically incorrect as well. You won't have a football say those things on the field and getting away with it. There should be no place for it in a professional sport.

He doesn't give a shit
That's not gonna happen.
Another thing is, McGregor is a fantastic fighter and one of the best. Him losing vs Khabib doesn't change that because Khabib is an animal and he's a nightmare stylistically for Conor. It is what it is, people who say Conor is average have no clue what they're on about.

Edit: I hope Khabib vs Ferguson happens now then I would like to see Khabib moving up to 170 to fight Woodley (who would beat him IMO).

That whole Caucasus region is tough as feck to be honest.
Having not really paid much attention to all of this I somehow assumed they were Chechens and had to correct my post. But you're absolutely right, I have very limited experience with people from the Caucasus, but the few I've met were Chechens and they struck me as just about the last people in the world to be fecking around with.

Talking endless shit worked a treat for Conor against Aldo. I understand why he was trying it against such a fantastic fighter like Khabib.

Didn't quite work of for Conor this time. As a wise man once said "Chat shit, get banged" and he certainly got banged last night!

I know they take it personally.

Saying "your country is a shithole" to anyone is dumb. Actually being offended by that as a grown adult is also dumb.
Except that wasn't what was said. You can't know what family background one has and what comment can be incredibly hurtful to them and not mean anything to you, making them lose their cool. Someone who's had his family ruined by a tsunami wouldn't take a joke about it in the same breath as someone else. It's the same debate as it is with the N-word, people say it's just another word but someone who knows what them and their family/ancestors have had to go through would obviously get incredibly enraged and rightly so. There's no defense for some of the language and antics Conor used for provocation, they were in incredibly poor taste.

Seems a really backwards and immature view to be honest. I think in this day and age people are expected to be a bit more thick skinned to stuff like that and I don’t think comments around religion or country in particular ever justify assault - just seems to suggest a lack of emotional control or some insecurity around your convictions.

But yeah, saying the only way to be a self-respecting human is to assault people if they say things you don’t like seems incredible to me.

What did Conor say about Khabib's family? I didn't follow all of the build up.

That really comes down to the indoctrination of the person though. Some nations blast patriotism and allegiance from birth. Under those conditions, it's unsurprising when a person is wholly consumed.

That is like telling people that they shouldn't watch football if they don't enjoy Jose's style of play. You don't have to love every aspect of a sport that you choose to watch.
You do know what MMA stands for right? Go away.:lol:

The great thing about Khabib is the way he kept his cool pre fight despite the joker's provocation. He knew he'd destroy him. He's one mentally tough bastard.

I’ll watch whatever the feck I want. Obviously won’t ever be as insightful as a true MMA purist like yourself.
Not really insightful or anything but it's a MMA thread which literally stands for mixed martial arts. Believe it or not grappling is a major part of the sport, perhaps the most important part...

The choke wasn't even on properly and he tapped quick. Found that funny after all the tough talk.

Why ?

I'm not a Conor fan (used to be a few years ago) but I didn't hear one single fan defend his actions when it came to the bus.

I dislike the two of them equally. Two scrotes
