Klopp is right. The Nations League is a complete load of bollox and demands on players are too much. From August 2017 until May 2019 many players will only have had a few weeks off. Sooner or later there will have to be compromises or there will be a complete rupture between intl and club football.

This moron is getting pretty tiresome. It's not the Nations League's fault that you run your players into the ground with your heavy metal approach.
Throwing insluts when he's making a very valid point.

Nice one.

Bloody hell, some people will knock the bloke no matter what he says. He speaks a lot of sense here and I agree with him. Hate the international break a anyway and this pointless 'competition' is just not worth it.

Agree completely, and I’m from Norway! (where the NL very well might be our only chance in to a comp)

In a world of my own. People know me here.

No, it's people who constantly have a go at the man even when he's making a relevant point which affects all the top clubs that are getting pretty tiresome. Besides, it's nothing new hearing football managers complaining about international fixtures.

He should make a stand about this - talking about it won’t change anything, the powers that be will just ignore him.

I think he should resign immediately in protest of the Nations League - nobody could ignore such a statement like that. It’s a big move I know, but for the greater good it’ll all be worthwhile - go on Jurgen, be the hero we all need and walk :)

Yes, but his issue is with the competition itself which is justified imo. The Semi-Finals, Final and 3rd place playoff will mean the players' seasons extend into the second week of June if they make it that far.

The nations league has been far better than international friendlies normally are. The international football is going to be played anyway, might as well try to make the matches interesting. It’s been a welcome change IMO.

According to Opta stats, Manchester Utd have pressed more than Liverpool this season.

True, but teams usually use those games to rotate a bit and give new players a chance. In this case, you'd expect teams to play their strongest sides with a trophy/prestige at stake.

Are there more international fixtures now because of the Nations League? Or have the qualifiers simply been rebranded?

Personally, I've long felt that qualifiers should all be played in the summer. Eliminate qualifiers in the season and the weeks where there would have been an international break there now is no break and the season finishes earlier. Champions League Final at the end or middle of April instead of May. Play the qualifiers in May/early June across two summers and let the players then go on a vacation. It would allow National Team managers to have a lot more time in one span with his players instead of a week here and a week there.

I haven't looked at the fixtures to work out the logistics because I really can't be bothered but I assume the above can work with little difficulty with the elimination of International Breaks.

He's right. The competition is a load of bullshit and needs setting fire to.
Yep. Hopefully more footballing figures come out against Qatar 2022 too, but that has been sadly non existent among top figures. Really disappointed in Pep and Xavi for taking the cash, I thought they were in the Wenger mould of having the best interests of the game at heart.

Not only a trophy. Seedings for future competitions. If you are France, you might be happy to go easy, but other countries will want to maintain or improve their seedings to avoid harder qualification games later. So you can't treat the games as glorified friendlies in the same way as before.

If I am not mistaken, you are saying here that these final losses are all down to Klopp? While I am sure he could have done some things better, I don't subscribe to the notion that Klopp is a serial loser. It's as ridiculous as it is reductive.

But, every final - every game - has a unique set of circumstances, if not players. So the circumstances won't be the same in the next for a start. Some of the players will have changed, so there's that also.

Plus Klopp's new glasses.
Next year mate.

I never agree with whiner Klopp, but he is 100% right about this nonsense. We never had all these pointless international games years ago, so get rid of them. I have had to wait two weeks again to see the real football restart.

This year he has to win something, as they are playing really, really bad. The excuse "but we did play so attractive and exciting, our games are so much fun to watch" doesn't count this year. Played good against West Ham, Southampton, Tottenham. Played okay against Chelsea and maybe Man City. Played shit against Palace, Leicester, Brighton and Huddersfield.

They are basically what we have been last season just with a bit more luck - solid defence, good goalkeeper, having a lot luck to not concede, scoring cause of individual class. Furthermore the referee helps them extremely - Spurs should have got a penalty in the last min, yesterday the offside goal, against palace the "soft penalty", against city there could have been 2 more penalties.

I am really jealous at them getting VvD - so good in the air and a real leader. Just imagine us not buying Lindelöf and Bailly and spending the money on VvD. Smalling would also look quite good beside a leader like VvD.

But, to be honest, i can't see them winning the league. City should right now have 27/27 points, they are looking so good again. Pep+money is a bit of cheating. Would like to see him at a team with normal budget in a real competition (e.g. Arsenal/Tottenham). But that is not the topic here.

I'm starting to get this feeling that he can't fix a problem without creating a new one.

He creates an amazing attack but it leaves us exposed at the back. Now he's created a solid defense but it's broken our attacking fluency from last season.

Red Star and Cardiff at home in the next two. No excuses not to put a few goals in against those two.

It was amaizing in several games in the CL which is not a good basis to generalise. In the league it was very good but well behind City's.

Liverpool fans like to talk about the front three and that it is the best. Well, the attacking play of a team involves a lot more than the front 3. The last time you had an amaizing attack in the league was 13/14.

Our amazing attack in 13/14 was built around Suarez and Sturridge.

I'm not sure. It might be that Firmino, Mane and Salah haven't been playing great this season and it's made the attack as a whole look worse.

We're doing something differently because I feel like we're slower than we were last season.

They were key but you scored 101 goals, not 84, even though Salah outscored Suarez. Suarez and Sturridge scored 50% of the goals, not 70 or 80 %. They have been many teams that have scored 80+ goals over the years. In 16/17 both Chelsea and Spurs scored 85+. Were they amaizing?

Well they must've been doing something right to score that many goals.

Sounds more like he's created a balance, you lot aren't drawing with bottom half teams. You can't win every game 5-0 sometimes edging out a 1-0 win is good enough as long as you keep winning. Hopefully you lot score fewer goals and concede more.

It’s a little worrying, but I somehow feel like he’ll eventually find the right balance. Yesterday we were piss poor, though, and I would like for him to find it soon as I miss having one of the best attacks in the world.

We’re playing poorly but players misplacing simple 5 yard passes is not a coaching issue. We had a number of opportunities to kill the game but for a poor final ball/shot and they weren’t even particularly difficult passes.

Klopp himself has acknowledged we’ve been focusing on defence which has impacted our attacking ability, the hope is over the season it balances out so we look more solid ala Chelsea and Spurs away whilst still creating clear cut chances which we did in those games.

People just keep demanding 4-5 goals every game and it’s not sustainable over a PL season.

The lack of a proper attacking midfielder I feel is where a lot of the problems, if you can call them that, are coming from.

Last season saw both Coutinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain fill that role and both have the ability to carry the ball, pick a pass and shoot from distance, which was helping the front 3 immensely.

This season I think the plan once the Fekir deal fell through was for Keita to be that link between midfield and attack. Obviously that hasn't happened due to his own slow start and a few knocks he's picked up. The Lallana of 2016/17 could fill the role but it's yet to be seen if he can return to the level he was at back then due to the recurring injuries he's picked up since then.

The midfield problem is also being exacerbated due to the dip in form of the front 3, which has led to our attacking play being hit and miss this season.

The much improved defence is helping to balance this out, though at some point we'll need things to click up top in order to challenge for the 2 major prizes. As much as a team can challenge City domestically that is!

Yeah I think that's what it is - mind you, you had Lallana back in but he looks a bit off. I don't think your other midfielders are offering much. @Klopper76 mentioned you guys don't look as quick this season, do you think it could be the transition from midfield to attack is too slow? x

Our other midfielders are definitely ones you would file under the heading functional. Not that that's a totally bad thing as they're generally reliable to give their all and be solid week in week out, just that moments of inspiration and creativity are not their strong points.

Lallana was off all last season when he played. Just could never get going due to injuries and lack of playing time. Yesterday was his 1st start since New Years in the league. As got mentioned on here as the game was going on he needs to play in a midfield 3 to be effective. Time and time again playing him as part of a front 3 just doesn't work.

I hope he gets his form back and quick cos assuming there'll be no Januaray signing and that Ox is at best only gonna return for last month or so of the season, he along with Keita are the best bet for the midfield role that will link with the attack to help make it all work.

The transitions definitely look more controlled than in the past, although at times seemingly simple passes are being misplaced, underhit or overhit which is costing attacks and chances.

Overall it's a slight worry at the moment, which will grow the longer it goes on. Red Star and Cardiff at home this week should be an ideal opportunity to get things back on track attacking wise, but we'll see how it goes.

Yup, they were very good. To call their attacks amaizing would be pushing it though. Same with your attacking play in the league last season. In some games it was absolutely outstanding. More consistency is needed though. Your problem is that your midfieders are not the most creative bunch out there. Front 3 might be amaizing but that's not enough for a truly amaizing attacking play. You need a Coutinho.

Yeah I've felt like that since Coutinho left. We don't have a De Bruyne or a Silva who can create something out of nothing from midfield like they do.

Keita was meant to be that player for us but he's taking a while to get going. That might be what holds us back this season.

We look a far more mature side and this is the best and most balanced we've been at any point in the PL era, so I'm finding it hard to complain and surprised so many are when are on the same points as the leaders (we were 12 points behind at the same stage last year).

You're comparing our form now to the team that finished last season and that's ridiculous, compare them to this time last season, we've scored more goals so far this season compared to this time last season, this time last season we had already lost to Newcastle, Watford, WBA, City and Spurs, we didn't really start to show our attacking fluency until January, did you honestly believe the form we showed last season we we're just going to carry it on into this season, with a closed season and WC in the middle of it ?
