Terrible to hear the owners daughter was on board.

Thank god it looks like no one on the ground was hit

Tragic. He's done so much for Leicester as a football club and by all accounts he's helped the wider Leicester area in a variety of different projects.

Will be interesting to see when Leicester are next required to play. If the worst is confirmed you'd imagine the players wouldn't be in the right mind frame to play for a while.

Just an awful situation all round. Thoughts are with everyone affected.

They are at home against Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, no way that should be played.

Apparently his daughter wasn't on board....small mercies but as a father of two daughters I'd happily die before either of them, the thought of being in that situation with my daughter pains me more than anything.

In any case, Truly tragic. What Leicester achieved when they won the league was miraculous and will never be forgotten. A fitting legacy to a seemingly great man. Rip.

They are not saying anything at the moment because they can’t recognise the corpses

There will be need dna tests etc to identify the victims correctly
Surely in this case though they knew the 5 people that got on the helicopter. If there are 5 bodies isn’t that enough evidence?

It seems to be there are 2 sets of rumours flying round. On some Leicester forums they are saying owner, Puel and both their wives were passengers.

I hope this latest rumour is correct and he is Ok. Losing both would be a horrible blow to a club.

As others have stated they won't release a statement until all close relatives have been informed and with the time difference to Thailand that will be difficult to achieve quickly.
What is really frustrating is some idiot has made up a rumour of Claude Puel being on the helicopter. How low can you be to make something up like that?

Leicester will always have a special place in my heart as it was my first foreign experience. I walked past welford road and walkers stadium, as it used to be called, every day when I was there.

Knew a few die hard fans who were supporting them through thick and thin. Texted one of them yesterday. It’s such a sad event for the whole city. Thoughts are with everyone.

Just signed up on foxestalk forum just to post a message of support for what must be a horrible and depressing time for their city and club.

Nice one bud, I signed up last night too for the same reason, also posted that they all should ignore red issue and not give them the attention.

BBC reporting that the owner was on board of the helicopter. One that puzzles me is that, how that takes so long to confirm who were on it and end the speculations of all the reports that went on all night?
Not to be grim, but since there’s been an explosion it may be difficult to identitify the remains and obviously family members need to be informed first before anything is made public.

I did see some names from the Cafe posting there. Also from many other teams’ fans. The members really do appreciate this huge outpouring of support.

Sick of the rumours going around.

Why people feel the need to make assumptions of who was/wasn’t on the helicopter is beyond me.

I guess everyone just wants to be first to break the news, it’s a bit sick really.

Family members may be requested to come and confirm it is indeed them also.

Yes not sure on the source for that rumour. I saw it on a twitter feed from leicester fan.

The newspapers can be source sometimes. They will bombard potential people with messages, if they don't get a positive answer they then start a rumour.

We saw the same thing with Arena bomb. Puel's lack of online presence may have helped spark the rumours

Was that not just the stand in BBC news presenter saying the wrong word that sparked that off?

The daughter rumour definitely seems more a case of idiots trying to make a terrible situation sound even more tragic to get clicks.

Highly doubt that, not much to identify them on, they use DNA
Yes with fire victims they will use anything they can rather than visual ID. They would definitely try and avoid putting family through that.

People need to understand that telling someone a loved one has died under such circumstances is a very tricky thing.

Can you imagine if you told the wrong person? The impact of such news can send the person into shock and even cause heart attacks or collapses.

If a relative sees "××××× death confirmed" and they have not been informed the consequences could be horrendous.

The fact that the owners name is now being confirmed implies that all of his immediate family have been made aware.

Whilst it is frustrating waiting for info the authorities will be wanting to ensure they do not make any mistakes.

LCFC and the Police will know exactly who was on board, BT probably do too, but LCFC's CCTV will have shown exactly who

The father of an old boyfriend died in a firy car crash when the gas can he had in his boot exploded. He heard about it on the radio news first. Poor guy was in shock.

Just another point to consider, I’m not 100% certain what Thai nationals culture and usual way of dealing with sudden deaths is, however there may be rituals/an order of events involved that the authorities would have to adhere to.

It’s disgusting that Manchester United fans, of all people, would use of an air traffic accident to comment on our own owners. Absolutely disgusting. Top reds
Thundercunts. Like you said, them using an air accident in this manner is disgusting.

Red Issue can feck off. Caf official twitter should call out Red Issue publicly on this. Shame them for being insensitive, especially when it is an air crash

Terrible tragedy. Thoughts are with those affected.

I can't help but wonder why so many are hung up on the release of names or an official announcement. We should all respect the privacy and leave it at that. Those that need to know most likely already know.

Is there a specific reason why they haven't released the information about the people on board? Seems strange to me.
Media milking the cow. They could have easily released all the info by now, even if unofficial, but that's not good for business. Better to have all the worried people clicking and clicking links in hope for any info.

This is almost certainly not the case.
