guessing caretaker will be carrick of Butt. let's see if all those calling for Jose's head are right that we will suddenly be world-beaters. Surprised they didn't wait till after we drew with cardiff and lost to PSG to save a bit of money. neither happy or overly sad. we should have got him the first time he left chelsea. he'll pop up at Inter soon

A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.

Who? Carrick?

You mean we should have fired SAF before he won the league in 08,09,11,13 and the Champions League in 08?

If its Carrick that's a mistake. Yet more incompetence from Woody

Bound to be Carrick. They wont be rushing to bring a permanent manager in.

Season's a write off anyway now.

Carrick wouldn't be my choice but Mourinho going is the most important thing. Let's us breathe now.

Don't know. But I hope we could avoid repeating the same mistake other clubs do, when they extend the contract of a caretaker after few good results.

Requirements for the new manager:

1. Not so fecking arrogant
2. Attack attack attack
3. That's it

Whoever the caretaker is, I hope the club uses this time to get a proper structure in place, starting with a technical director, and then makes the appropriate full time appointment in the summer.

Can't do much worse - but I agree in some ways with what you're saying.

I don't see why Jardim for example wouldn't gobble up a caretaker role given he's doing feck all right now anyway. He has the opportunity to turn it into a full time role, so I reckon he's a favourite to take over this season (assuming he's somewhere on the list for United)

If we don't have a real manager lined up as a caretaker, then this is a monumentally stupid thing to do and think that an ex player or a coach can pull us through half a season.

And whilst it was time for mourinho to go, as we don't play like a team just individuals, some of you a right ingrates. Lets not forget after a barren spell he gave us trophies if only for a brief period.

Surely Carrick/McKenna will be appointed caretaker manager or even Giggs.

The tea lady would have more impact than keeping Jose on.

No serious manager worth their salt is taking up a caretaker role. Too much pride for that. Chelsea only got Hidiink because he was mates with Roman and was old anyway and didn’t want a full time gig.

It's going to be Carrick, but I'd take Wenger for a caretaker option, I'm not eve sure why. Just seems it would work for a few months, even if we would get fecked over by PSG.

I want Wenger if we can't get our first choice in mid-season...why ?

1) He is French (Martial and Pogba would probably be happy)
2) He always gets his teams to C.L - but never win trophies. I ll gladly take that now
3) He seems to be genuinely loved by his players
4) He always gets his teams to play attacking football

Ok - I am not 100% serious - but it might not be a bad idea

Neville hints club wants Poch I think

"They'll eventually have to pay the money, if it's the one we think"

Edit:

 the interviewer asked him to say the name and confirms

"A caretaker-manager will be appointed until the end of the season while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager," says a United statement.

"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future."

Won't be Carrick then, which is the right decision as we still have plenty to play for this season. Interesting times ahead.

I like Carrick as a choice. We won't do shit this season anyway from this position and maybe he would actually be able to get something going. He's a very likeable character and fans won't turn on him as easily as they had on previous managers.
