Next out of the door is a toss up between Pogba and Sanchez, with both it will be a case of how much money is involved.
It might give the caretaker manager a bit of a reprieve that both players will have to show better form to would be purchasers, if they want to continue with the big bucks salaries, every cloud has silver-lining!

Think i'd get rid of the following:

Scott McTominay - 22 years old, he's an ok player but nothing more. If his wages are ok we should keep but frankly i'd be surprised if he made it here.
Phil Jones - Soon to be 27 years old, on high wage and never fit. Should have been sold years ago.
Marcos Rojo - Will be 29 soon and has injury problems. Not good enough as a start and not fit enough as a squad player. Very similar to Jones.
Alexis Sánchez - Massive wages and hasn't performed. 30 years old tomorrow and simply not worth it.
Matteo Darmian - Wants to go home, let him.
Marouane Fellaini - Never been a fan of his, he has spirit I give him that. But his lack of technical skill is apparent. He's a symbol of everything that's been wrong at the club.
Antonio Valencia - Great servant but his time is up.
Ashley Young - Same as Valencia.

All of the above should really be gone by 20/21.

A proper manager, who will take stock of the potential of players and their careers so far will consider the sales of:

- Darmian
- Fellaini
- Matic
- Jones
- Rojo
- Valencia
- Young

I think names like Bailly, Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez are safe on the basis of potential or their historical appearances beit at United or elsewhere.

Of those above only Matic has any chance of being given a reprieve to stick around for more than one year.

But if we go for another piss poor manager with no identity or a desire to build something great, then perhaps these players stay where they are.

Pogba isnt going anywhere without first being given a chance by the next manager

Nobody. All the players will be given yet another reprieve as the manager needs time to "assess his squad".
This is a problem, some players clearly offer nothing anymore.
Both moyes and LVG spent to much time assessing the squad instead of clearing out the deadwood. It's part of the reason we are in the position we are in today.

Mata, Fellaini, Darmian need to go & replaced with younger talented players or older players at the end of their careers who can still help our squad.

Young & Valencia need to be replaced, but are veterans who provide leadership to the young guys which is why every manager since Moyes has trusted them. I just wouldn't play them as much.

Jones & Rojo need to be replaced with someone young and talented who doesn't get hurt all the time. Not a big priority though.

Mata adds squad depth, I'd let him see out his contract. The rest of them need to go though.
The next manager needs to not waste assessing this lot. Hopefully getting a dof should help with issues like this

Edit.. As soon as we can find a decent striker, lukaku needs to be sold as well. I can't recall United ever having a worse striker than that

Hopefully players like Jones. There's no need to 'assess' anything with ones like that.

I hope it's NOT Carrick or McKenna, if it's players then I think we will see a huge exodus in the next 2/3 Windows, first will be Darmian, then Jones, Rojo, Valencia, Matic, Fellaini, McTomminay and Sanchez, followed shortly after by Linderlöf, Young, Mata, TFM, Lukaku, Lingard, & Grant.
Huge I know, but of these 15, 5/6 can be replaced from the academy, the squad is too big so 6/7 NEW signings would be needed to get us back where we need to compete.

The exact same players that should have gone when Jose arrived plus one or two more.

We have to do everything we can to give our next manager every chance of title success not just top 4. Let Carrick and McKenna decide who needs to go and get in a DoF to decide on replacements. Some of those replacements should be top talent that benches current first teamers

I'd take a phased approach to this, rather than attempting a fire sale in January. Some players may have been underperforming due to Jose's tactics and toxic environment and deserve a chance.

My suggestions would be:

Jan Sales

Rojo and Jones - 5 senior CBs at the club, plus Tunzebe on loan (I'd bring back asap if possible). That's too many and these top the list of exits given their poor injury record

Valencia- Past it I'm afraid. Simply not good enough even as a rotation option. Move on or move upwards to a backroom role

Darmian - Never done it for the club and not long left on the contract. Only question mark I have is whether we could promote Laird to a squad player and/ or recall Mitchell. I'd want 4 full backs in the main squad

Herrera - hard worker, but never consistent and is a player I see resorting to hoofs/ side passes too often. We have plenty of midfield talent before we even think of promoting Garner and potentially recalling TFM (I see him as a CB or DM), so surplus to requirements in my view. Rather sell him soon before his price tag drops

We could get rid of 4 of the above, possibly 5 and it would not have an impact on the squad. There would be sufficient cover

End of season

Young - A few faults, but an important squad player at the moment and I'd have Valencia and Darmin ahead of him on the exit list. Keep him to summer, but then I'd move on

Warning List
The following are players I'd give a final chance to. If they don't perform, then sell in the summer. The list is ordered in terms of how underperforming they are

Note - I'd also accept an unsolicited bid for them now if we were confident we had depth in the squad

Lukkaku - We may have bought a dud for our aspirations to be world class. His performances have been appaling this season and regardless of how Jose misused him as a target man, his touch and movement are unforgivable. The lad is a determined and mentality strong player it seems, so worth a chance

Matic - he has gone a bit like Valencia, with a sudden drop in performance. Part of this may be down to overuse, or he could simply be rapidly declining past his peak

Bailley - great start to the club, but a question mark due to his injury record. We should not tolerate another jones/ Rojo situation

Lindelof - very disappointing time at the club so far. Some promising stuff, but I have doubts over his ability to meet the mental and physical rigours of the prem. Big question mark, but happy to be proved wrong

Pogba/ Sanchez- just made the list as they need to live up to their price tags that could be better invested elsewhere if yhey don't show consistently top form. I put a lot down to Jose, but they do need to step it up. I think they will personally

Lukaku must go. Any new manager is off to a losing battle with that lump up front who can't even trap a football.

Can’t go nuts straight away. Assuming we buy 4 first team players, which is a lot for us, we still need cover. Jones is pointless so can go off the bat. Fellaini shouldn’t be necessary but it wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed a while.
One of Darmien or Valencia.

Out in 2019:
- Jones
- Valencia
- Darmian
- Perreira
- Rojo

Out 2020:
- Mata
- Young
- Fellaini
- Matic
- Smalling

Sanchez, Shaw, Lukaku & Bailly need to seriously step they game up or should face the axe too.
Question mark over Lindelof & McTom.

Difficult to say. I'd have thought some of the people in the boardroom who are seemingly stealing a living even more than some of the players will likely get canned. No idea who most of them are, but they've overseen years of poor decisions and have to be the most at fault. Logic dictates they'd be the first to be shown the door.

In terms of players, I cannot imagine Jones or Darmian being offered a new contract beyond the likely one-year extension that the club will trigger. It's madness that Rojo was given a new contract until 2021, but I think he'd have to be next on the list. I think everyone else will be phased out a little more methodically, but the list of names would probably include Herrera, Mata, Fellaini, Young, and Valencia. I quite like some of those players as they actually care about playing for United, but we'll have to see what the next manager wants to do. This could take 3-4 or even more transfer windows though.

For all we know, the next manager might want to make a statement and doesn't want any of Pogba, Lukaku, Martial, Bailly/Lindelof etc. The direction needs to be extremely clear for the players and hopefully the fans though, or we will likely lose someone like de Gea as I think he can easily slot into PSG/Juventus and win trophies now instead of probably in 2+ years time at best with United.

I don’t understand those of you who want to get rid of Lukaku and Alexis. I believe their poor form is due to a lack of confidence, a dysfunctional team, a style of play that didn’t suit them (too defensive) and the general atmosphere in the squad. I definitely would like to see them being given a chance under a new manager with an attacking philospohy. We all know how Lukaku has performed for Belgium and Sanchez’ level at Arsenal.

ASAP;

Darmian, Jones, Rojo, Valenica

Then in the next batch;

Fellaini, Matic, Young

Then maybe next summer we can replace Smalling too.

Get rid of some of the older players and on high wages that doesn't perform like Alexis and Matic, would do it already in january.

Get rid of Pogba, bloody useless and as for that tweet that was the final straw for me. Gonna find it very hard to watch him play for us in the future.

This is a really bad thread at this time. We need to support the team, not start looking for scapegoats.

Id take the aasessment approach this season. There are certain players i am uncertain about. Defence should be dismantled(central) regardless of change. Guys like fosu mensah and tuanzebe are comingbwith back and can be assessed, but we already know what jones darmian rojo smalling and lindelof will give us.
Central midfield is the most debateable position we have. We can go a lot of ways. We could sell pogba aand buy a cam for a 4231. We ccan keep him in a 2 mavn midfield we can also keep the three man midfield model. We desperately need to resolve the flanks, particulalry the right flank. Guys like lingard and mata have proven not to be good enough to take a starting role in this position, so at least one maybe both need to be sold.
Lukaku has shown his abilities add simply needs a capable subsititute, he has shown he cannot be relied upon to carry tree entire season for a team. In addition we ngeed to figure out what to do with sanchez.

I would try a 442/4231 hybrid for the season to assess the team. Sign a centre back, right winger and back up striker and promote young players to see if they can fill some holes, even as squad players. Pogba determines what we do in midfield, while Lukaku and Sanchez performances over byhe next 6 months determines what we do in attack. No more bad forn from here on in particularly from Pogba...Matic shoykd aldso be assessed to see whether positioning age or team style is the reason for his sudden form drop...the injury in the summer may still be an issue and fans have been very impatient with him andc lukaku

Summer 2019 - Clearout

Phil Jones - Injury issue. I think his playing style is the likely cause

Marcos Rojo - He's a warrior but unfortunately is hoof merchant and an accident to happen every game

Matteo Darmian - Not the standard required

Marouane Fellaini - Nothing player. A headed goal ever three full moons. He's too slow and technically not good enough to play against fast technical midfielders who press

Antonio Valencia - Give younger players a chance. Age is his enemy

Ashley Young - He's been one of our better players over the last 18 Months. Again, age is his enemy

Matic - He's unable to play against pressing teams are playing these days. Slows down our game.

Lindelof - Premiership football is just too fast and furious. Very weak in the air

Lots of calls to get rid of 3 full backs. As much as they are not the future, it would be a big call to do this within the next 2 windows. There are bigger problems to sort out and Young is performing reasonably well and is a good enough squad player for cup games. Darmian is limited but again can be useful until the right replacements and bought in/up.

I would imagine it'll be 4 Windows until the third of these 3 are gone.

Clueless board lets managers assess average players so we take an eternity to clear the dross.

We are talking about letting go of Jones, Valencia, Darmian, Rojo etc when they would have been binned within 1-2 seasons by a proper long term planner.

The only players that need assessing are Pogba, Sanchez and Lukaku by the new manager, because they are expensive assets that have shown to be much better than what they are now.

I'm just going to be blunt about this: the people saying Pogba should be shown the door aren't bright and I might just think of them as stupid. I'm sorry it had to be said, that's literally one of the stupidest thing that's been said on the Caf the past few days and for some reasons those people aren't being called out.

Utterly moronic train of thought. Who sit around thinking of ridding their club of one of their most talented and best player, especially when a fresh start is about to begin. Some people say utterly moronic things.
Stupid comment.

Don't think we'll make any changes until summer when we have a permanent manager in charge. Next summer we'll see a few leave, Jones, Valencia and Rojo are all nailed on to leave I reckon, then the rest will be manager's choice. I'd like to see us sell Fellaini as well if possible. I don't think we'll change too much the first window, just get rid of the players who are obviously not good enough/constantly injured.

Rojo, Jones, Valencia, Sanchez, Lukaku, should leave. In that order.
Pogba can have his last chance to prove his worth but I don't doubt he cares more about his barber than his badge.

Maybe Fellaini as well. I don't hate him and understand what he can provide but for me he's the embodiment of our cluelessness. He's an okay plan B or C but it often becomes our plan A after awhile and I'm sick of hoofball. Just sell him now so next manager won't dare to even try.

Any sane manager will give his players some time to convince him that they deserve to be here.
Not that again, every time so far manager gave chance players to prove him they are good enough, screw that.
