Neymar touched on the 5th metatarsal right, the same area where he had surgery last year. A new operation is not to be excluded. Treatment will depend on the evolution in the next few days #PSGRSCA #rmclive

He's
definitely gone for the first leg and will be a major doubt for the second leg too.

He will probably be out a lot longer. You have to be a lot more careful the second time. Else it can end the career.

Neuer's injury was similar.

This is massive news, don't know why this thread is getting such little action. He's out and possibly 1 year off if he has to re-open his foot.

That‘s huge if Neymar is out for the first leg. I still think it is likely that PSG will advance, but a whole lot depends on the midfield reinforcements they manage to bring in until the window closes.

They tried to get Renato Sanches yesterday, but Bayern told them to feck off. Imagine being that desperate that you turn to Renato Sanches as an emergency option:wenger:

This is heart breaking for Neymar. This is an injury that can end his career early unfortunately

This is why you dont spend too much on any one player. Neymar has always been "fragile", and i saw these injuries coming way back when he first joined barca.

Cautiously optimistic about playing them now whereas a month ago I was thinking we'd be better off trading places with Chelsea in the Europa League.
They have literally no midfield and no Neymar. Nobody to play the ball through to Mbappe or create behind Cavani.
Would will it take to take away the caution!

Why ?
Sevilla was weaker than PSG ( even without Neymar )
Mourinho no longer manages us.

Although I would love to play PSG at full strength. It would give us a good idea of what this team is and what it needs in way of summer recruitment. Even if we advance against a weak PSG, we will most likely come up against a very strong team in the QFs anyway.

It's terrible news for PSG, this is the second year with Neymar where he has gotten hurt before the only moment he was brought in for. I can't see how he makes it for the CL tie. Now the tide turns into United's favor, especially if there's no real reinforcements brought in. Hopefully for the player, this re-injury isn't something that's going to plague him for the rest of his career.

It’s the front three we should be worried about, not their midfield.
The midfield provides the ball so if by chance we win it there we could dry out any supply to the front 3 and force them to play long.

Don't know about that. Even without Verrati and Neymar they're at at least a CL dark horse with a settled team that wins their league and isn't dynsfunctional in the least. We aren't even that. We're a top 4 contender in England and in the CL mostly to make up the numbers.

Obviously this increases our chances but PSG still have to be big favourites.

Shame for Neymar though. Never want to see a serious injury. Hope he recovers fast.

That’s true, he was bought for the CL indeed. Hopefully it’s not that bad but I’d take any injury to help United go through :).

Veratti is a bigger issue than Neymar, but Neymar getting hurt definitely makes things far worse. As great as Neymar can be, he's more replaceable without as many complications compared to Veratti. I still think this will be a big test for United, and PSG definitely has a chance to progress, it's just unfortunate that we won't see the teams facing one another at full force (although I'm sure most United fans won't mind).

The advantage is clearly on our side now... we will beat them on both legs.

Hope Neymar recovers fast... would be a shame not to be beat them at full force, last time in Feb 2018 he was out for 15 matches, ˜80 days.

  • Looks like they bought Paredes for 47mm Euros from Zenit
  • Looks Verrati will be back for the Bordeaux game, and be available against us
  • Neymar has re-injured the 5th metatarsal in his right foot & say that treatment will depend on how the problem evolves over the next few days.

If all this is true I'd have them as at least narrow favourites, which could progress to good favourites depending how Verratti returns from injury and how Paredes fits into the side.

GK - United
Defence - PSG
Midfield - Equal
Attack - PSG

Neymar will be back only after his sister's birthday. So we just have Mbappe to deal with now.

I think we have a better midfield. Paredes is not going to just come in and start playing well. Veratti is just coming back from injury. Rabiot is leaving in the summer. We have a settled midfield 3 and the arguably best midfielder in the world.

Such a shame.

An absolute tit, but entertaining regardless, and was looking forward to watching him at Old Trafford.

Perhaps it is because he is a super player, and a super personality in football terms.. some adore him, some do not.. he is a diva, a genuine talking point.... And a truly outstanding talent who backs up all the attention and hype with performances and goals. He is brilliant. Truly brilliant. Not many players like that in world football.

I hope this is not the beginning of the end.

That’s huge. Hopefully this won’t seriously influence his career though, it would be a shame.

Is he back to bad again? I think he’s had some promising stint earlier but haven’t heard much about him since.
