Both finalist without a goal conceded in the tournament, will be an interesting final.

Japan has conceded 3 goals so far this tournament. Both to Central Asian opposition. 2 to Turkmenistan :houllier: and 1 to Uzbekistan.

To be honest though, that first game vs. Turkmenistan Japan played in 10th gear.

Ah apologies, I read somewhere yesterday that they were gunning for a record of 10 games without a goal conceded or something like that, but maybe it was KO stages only, dunno.

Haven't seen anything of the tournament bar some highlights here and there, you'd fancy Japan in principle but haven't seen Qatar play so there's that.

We all love United
Who you guys fancy to win the final? Japan or Qatar? Japan have an extra day to recover but not sure if it will make a lot of difference

Qatar have easily been the most impressive team of the tournament so far. 16 scored, zero conceded...including matches vs. Saudi, Iraq, Korea, and now UAE (though UAE are very poor...can't figure out how they found it easier vs. Aussies than the Kyrgyz).

Japan however, is like Germany of Asia. They can play like absolute crap in friendlies or groupstage, or bring a mixed B team, yet end up in semis, finals and win it. An absolute machine of a team who often rises to the occasion and has lots of experience in winning.

Will be a very interesting match-up.

Japan already had impressed me on Russia. They could have knocked out Belgium. Also very technical players.

Half the team is different from the World Cup tbf, they’ve not been impressive in this tournament.

I am mentioning Japanese football as a whole. They have a lot of interesting players. Beating Iran 3:0 is impressive.

The score line is but if you saw the game they were pretty fortunate for the first two goals.

Ok didn't watched the game. No team wins 6 games on a tournament being crap.

That’s true but they’ve rode their luck the the absolute extreme. Qatar look like a solid side, I’d expect them to beat Japan.

I never mentioned the final.

I am mentioning Japan performance on Russia added with the fact they have a couple of interesting players here in Europe. Before the tournament started they also had a interesting player on Nakajima, unfortunately he got injured.

Also Tomiyasu who is only 20 who plays in Belgium looks a promising player. They must be doing something right. Only that.

How are Qatar so so good? Did they genuinely develop good players or just naturalize players not born there.

Probably because half their squad isn’t from Qatar, they have just given players citizenship if they play in the their league.

Looks like this tournament is rigged so that people can think it was right to give Qatar the World Cup and they will be competitive.

Qatar have not been bad overall in the tournament but you would always expect they bought their way... it is quite the trend.

They probably have imports but they also develop their own players, Aspire must be the best asian academy by some distance. Felix Sanchez Bas has done great work there from the ground up since 2006.

You could be joking and most probably are but for others who say this seriously, just look at the Qatari goals and tell me its fixed.

Aspire is one of the best academies in the world, not just Asia. Al Kass tournament starts soon, it’s an u17 tournament, Aspire are always pretty good in it (benfica, psg, Madrid usually compete in it along with others).

Aspire is definitely the best academy in Asia but do they develop local kids or bring talented kids from all over the world and develop them for Qatar national team?

Mix of both I guess. I reckon they must naturalize a fair few.

This match and probably this whole tournament is clearly rigged for Qatar to win it all since day one. What a farce. Football the beautiful game.

Now that Queiroz has left Iran for good, an exclusive interview is to be released tonight. He says the ministry of sport didn't give a penny to the Federation for the preparation for this tournament as he doesn't like football and Carlos and QATAR paid for all Iran's preparation, camp, hotel, even friendly match vs. Venezuela !!

God bless you Carlos. Thank you for having balls of steel! that's an amazing partying gift.

I am no Qatar fan, but that's the furthest thing from truth. The tournament is hosted in UAE, who are Qatar's biggest enemy (alongside the Saudis now). Cheering for Qatar could be punishable with 15 years in prison in UAE. My best friend works for Emirates and lives in Dubai and he can't wear his Barcelona jersey in public anymore.

This is what makes it even more impressive. Qatar absolutely dicked on both Saudi and UAE...also beat very solid Asian powerhouses like Iraq, S.Korea and Japan on the way to the trophy. This is one of the most deserved Asian championships of all time. Winning a tournament with scoring 20 goals and conceding only 1 at the turf of your second biggest geopolitical enemy is no rigging.

Really, fair play to them.

For some people, Qatar , UAE and KSA are just the same. Islam, Muslims, Arabs are monolithic.
