Playmaking ability very Underrated. A goal and assist is a great way to get into form for PSG. Need him to be more selfish and driven moving forward.

Brilliant goal. This was the performance we've been waiting for, seemed so willing to run with the ball today. Important to have a performance like that before the PSG match.

That goal reminded me of Ronaldo's against Fulham in 06/07. The finish was given a Tony Martial flavour though. Brilliant.

50 million down the drain, Tony Martial scores again.

Top top performance. Fulham killed themselves by leaving players one on one against him.

Pathetic defending for his goal . No doubt when he went 1 on 1 that he was gonna score.

I remember thinking we had lost him at the end of last season through to the start of this season. Dire days indeed.

He's marvellous.

You really don't like the guy, huh?

If my memory serves me correctly you wanted to trade him with Willian last summer? Show's how much you know :wenger:

World class goal today! He and Pogba are easily our two most talented players. Thank god we ditched that relic we had in charge before Ole!

Editing my own posts.
He seems like he might be at that point Ronaldo was in the 05/06 season just before he blew up. Still making the odd frustrating decision, but occasionally displaying genius at more and more crucial moments... hopefully he’ll have a huge season next year.

I do like him and I did not want to swap him for Willian, but ok...

Not for me, with great playmaking ability he'd have had 3-4 assists and not ignored a simple cut to Pogba and a wide open Ander. If anything he needs to be less selfish and get his head up and actually look for the killer pass more instead of just dribbling and dribbling some more and clipping a random ball into the box. He's also remarkably slow on releasing the ball which leads to so many of his shots being blocked.

Great game though, their defence is shit and he had them on toast. It's basically a guaranteed goal when he gets a shot off coming in from the left. Fantastic finishing.

Nah, he generally always looks up to see if he can cross it in or try a simple pass, it's very rare that he just blindly plays the ball. Fulham had plenty of interceptions when he tried passing the ball out 45.

You cant beat watching martial run at defenders and probably our best finisher under pressure. Great game today, 2nd only to Pogba. Keep it up.

Both him and Rashford, comparable to Rooney and Ronaldo. Neither will reach ronaldo's level of course but both can definitely become world class players and I'm convinced they're on the cusp of that

Quality assist and goal today, good performance all round. On his goal the strength to hold off one player and then the feint to beat the CB was class, followed by his ice cold finishing.

If he looked up Pogba would have a match ball. He doesn't. He runs down blind alleys all the time and being even more selfish is the last thing he needs.

Very good performance and goal. Looked happy to be part of the team when he came off too. Guessing he knows he's playing midweek and he'll definitely be important there.

Hmm, I'm not sure if your serious? He's very unselfish, he has feck all shots this season, because he's constantly looking to play a pass.

I'm still convinced up front is his best position. I was hoping he'd get a chance there today, but Lukaku got the nod instead.

Weird would have said Martial could have had a hatrick if he wasn’t so damn unselfish and always looking for a pass. In the first 5 minutes there was a chance where he should have gone himself but instead looked for Pogba and this seems to be something he does too often even to the detriment of his own game, if anything needs to be more selfish and take more responsibility. It’s one of his biggest flaws as I see it.

Oh man, what a goal, what memories it evoked. 12 years ago a thouroughbred named Ronaldo galloped the acres of Craven Cottage in similar fashion.

He has feck all shots because he takes an hour to get the shot off and gets blocked or tackled. I also didn't claim he doesn't try to pass. I said he isn't some great playmaker and regularly chooses the wrong pass.

That just needs better decision making. And just another example of how he isn't an underrated playmaker. It was a stupid pass to play and selfish or not he shouldn't be playing it.

I agree he doesnt choose the right pass often, but that isnt because hes selfish. I think hes just too unselfish and looks for the early pass too often instead of taking the defender on more often. Sometimes needs to take an extra dribble out wide and then cut it back to the forwards, or have a shot in a better position instead of always finessing the perfect finish or pass.

You can’t have his numbers and not be considered a good playmaker but I agree it was a stupid decision to try and play Pogba in there but he plays him in for Pogbas first goal so your point here seems somewhat silly. Is it just you don’t really rate him?

He is brilliant, can be as good as he wants to be over the next 10 years or so.
