Looks a player. I have personally spoken about, even made threads on I think, the likes of Jack Colback, Tom Carroll and Sam Clucas in the past, and none of them have amounted to feck all (cheers guys). Anyway, Longstaff is the latest composed young English central midfielder to have impressed me lately. He’s come into the Newcastle side and added real quality. I think England will be trying to change the profile of their central midfielders from the Henderson’s and Delph’s of this world.

He could be the (latest) one to keep an eye on.

Average player. Think he'll go the way of the names you've posted.

Sounds like you've given him the kiss of death.

He is not a big 'name' yet and it is still early days, but I like what I have seen from Sean Longstaff.
I mentioned him earlier in 'The Search for a Midfielder' thread.

I have been impressed with him since his first team debut v Liverpool in December. He seems assured on the ball, with good vision and technical ability.

The master of hindsight @Rozay wrecks another young players dreams!

But, in seriousness I agree he looks a player.

Strikes again! Still, I think I have more than my fair share of wins on here to argue ‘Master of Foresight’ being more appropriate, but at least it’s good to be master of something!

Think luck has a lot to do with these things tbh. Right place, right time, right transfer, right injury to a teammate etc. Longstaff could easily fall off, but there are probably a few who have had good careers in the past who could have just as easily ended up like those names.

Pretty impressive so far. Right from his first game. And getting better with each game too. One to keep an eye on. The Geordies may have unearthed a gem there. Early days though, very early...

On par with Joe Hart and Fabian Assmann as the best porn names in football.
Will never forget the World Cup before last where Republic of Ireland lined up with a strike partnership of Long and Cox. Was fecking hilarious!

Republic of Ireland should try and get Blackpool player Matty Virtue-Thick to play for then, Virtue-Thick and Cox.

Yes, been impressed with him. Not only today but in other games too. He's really solid in midfield but can play a bit too. At 21, I'd say he's definitely someone to keep an eye on.

David Seaman, Julian Dicks, Neil Cox, Nicky Butt, Sean Longstaff, Tony Woodcock, Joao Pinto

Poor commentator if these guys all played for the same time.

Was following him a bit last season when he was on loan at my local club, definitely a level above everyone else and was way too good for league 1 in his short time on loan there. Scored some decent long rangers on a a lot of shit pitches too. Last goal

This has the makings of an excellent charity match. Take your lads above along with David Goodwillie, Brian Pinas and Paul Dickov and play them against a side of:

Michael Gash, Stefan Kuntz, Rod Fanni, Fabien Assman, Bernt Hass, Andre Muff, Ralph Minge and Dean Windass.

Mike Dean can be the referee.

Definitely looks promising. Has been a welcome surprise this year given the abysmal quality that's come out of our academy over the last decade or so. Hope he keeps progressing.

Crowd were deafening when he scored too like. Even in this day and age a local lad getting on the pitch can mean so much to so many.

I hope this guy lines up alongside Rice in midfield for England. Pickford and Maguire have done great work bringing England’s average ugliness level closer to what it should be since Rooney’s retirement but these guys would take it to another level.

For all the risque jokes, I had a fairly innocent thought that his name seemed like he was the son of Gandalf or Saruman or something.

You should have started the Declan Rice thread instead.
