Hope it’s just his agent trying to make some noise to scare us into giving him a few more quid

Unless we're seriously investing in midfield, this would be such a silly move on our part. Handing a new contract to Jones when he's down the pecking order but allowing Herrera to leave when he's a regular in our XI. Makes no sense to me.

The Marca thing don't mean much since it's not saying he's agreed to anything. I think someones being mischievous. Maybe they see it as revenge for what we did to them or maybe it's true. I just think we would still be his first choice. Of course with Matas future in question and De Gea still to sign it might not be as solid as it once was - or it might be even stronger since Oles asking us to play better football. Not particularly worried.

Decent squad player who despite playing for a major club can't get a look in for Spain, besides, penny pinching Woodward probably sees Garner as a replacement.

Spain has a multitude of options, and United, despite its "major club" status, hasn't been shit competitively since 2013.

Would be sad to see him leave, but more for his personality than his football. If we replace him with superior quality there won't be that many tears. His is one of the positions we need a proper upgrade in.

Can't blame him. United are pretty stingy with contracts for players headed into their 30s. Preferring rolling 1 year ones. Fair enough for Ander.

Weirdly enough, as much as I love Ander it doesn't seem that important to me that he stays or leaves as a player.

Same goes for Pogba but while replacing Ander like for like is possible, Pogba not so much.

Maybe it is the Ronaldo effect.

Hope, We Lose
Dont think it'll happen as I think he'll sign with us like he said. Assuming we offer him something reasonable.

But I'm happy for stories like this if only to placate the posters who go on about "Would any of the top teams want our player?"

Barcelona were linked with him in 2018, and PSG now in 2019.

If we lose Herrera and keep Matic Is wouldn't even know what to say. Would be laughable.

Especially with how poor Matic is aging.

Sounds like scare tactics by the agent. If it really is a difference of 30k per week we won't blink an eyelid, if Ole wants to keep him.

Herrera blatantly loves the club so my assumption would be he would be keen to stay if we match any other offers.

I think Herrera is just an enthusiastic and intelligent person and loves football in general. I can see him exploring his options to experience another footballing culture.

I don't think this is actually going to go through. He's been playing far more regularly than before and is very passionate about United. Was tipped to even be Captain next season with Valencia leaving

Seems like his agent trying to get an upper hand on the contract negotiations

If he does go though...good thing Fred is hitting some semblance of form. Hope we get Rabiot or a similar player

I actually thought he'd end up at Bilbao this summer for free, that was whilst Mourinho was manager but now everything's changed, the players seem to be confident again (ok last two results haven't been great). I actually think he'll stay, theres no way Ole will want to lose him, he's an important player for us.

Honestly don't know. Maybe we're just assuming that he's definitely signing so we're focusing on other issues?
Like getting Phil Jones a new contract?

This might still turn out well but the amount of dumb situations we manage to get ourselves into is ridiculous. This past few years we've made a habit of leaving contract extensions to the very last second and I'm not sure why do we think it's a good idea.

We are the worst run club in the premier league and deserve all the failure we get. Really infuriating if we lose him.

Something is very wrong with our contract renewals. Not only do we leave it too late, which is a big problem in itself, but our decision making is all over the place in that department the last few years
