I do not mean to offend anyone with these questions:

If (A) Assange is now a Russian puppet

And (B) Trump is in bed with the Russians

then why would the Trump administration be after this guy?

Tying up loose ends seems the best reason I could come up with?

A lot of this thread makes no sense to me, I guess it's because all the lunatic right wingers i have blocked are in here calling injustice and blaming the lefties for hating Assange because he helped Trump and threw Shillary under a bus.

I admire he exposed so much of the illegalities and brutal actions of the US forces and Government and I admire his quest. He released some damning and hugely important documents and information to show what was going on. For that he should be forever credited.

I don't admire him for taking sides because that lost him credibility despite the fact I hate Hillary almost as much as Trump. He should have released shit on them both. I don't admire his sneaky dealings with Roger Stone or his cosy relationship with Putin and I certainly don't admire, like or respect him for the sexual assault charges that have followed him around and that he has dodged. I also don't respect him for how he treated fellow co-workers at Wiki- and how his narcissism got in the way of their ground-breaking and immensely important work.

I don't however think he should go back to the USA for trial as I just don't see it being fair atm. Too many with personal interests involved like Trump himself. He should be sent home to Sweden to face the Sex charges and if he's found guilty in the UK he should serve his time in a Swedish prison while awaiting trial there.

Maybe he did until this happened. Maybe he’s just changed his mind.
My theory on Assange and some others is that they get to a point where they define themselves not by what they stand for, but who/what they stand against and will accept anyone who is also against the same as "allies" regardless of any other failings. Mainly he is against the US establishment and military/intelligence apparatus specifically. Hillary stood for those, Trump sort of stood against them (emphasis on the sort of), therefore he'd help Trump.

I think Assange, like most people, thought there was no way Trump could win so his leaking of emails damaging to Clinton was about poking a finger in the eye of what he assumed was the next US president and consuming the early days of what would be her presidency with scandal. And there were also twitter DMs between him and Don Jr where he encouraged Trump not to concede in the event of a Clinton win which kind of squares with that idea.

People buying the media narrative.

Someone sends Hillary's stuff to WikiLeaks and they share it. Oh, he must be in bed with Trump and Russia.

No!! He would have leaked info damming to Trump or whoever, but no one never send WikiLeaks that info.

Why he has to be picky about what he releases? Why he should abstinence from the truth to help some corrupt like Hillary? That's for the people to decide, with all the truth at hand.

Why did he work so closely with Trump's team then? Roger Stone and Steve Bannon for example.... He's also been accused of working with Farage too...

Sorry but your theory just doesn't sit right or make much sense.

C) trump is not a Russian puppet
E)boue.

But, I mean, yeah. I don't really see how both of those things can be true. Even if it were a scorched earth/tie up loose ends policy, it would be extremely risky for Trump to do that, given the Mueller report was not the slam dunk people hoped for, and while it's probably not as exonerating as Barr said, Trump has gotten through it relatively unscathed...and the likelihood that, you imagine, if Assange had such info that Trump needed to shut him up, Wikileaks got release a whole load of shit in retaliation.

Full conspiracy mode says maybe that's what THEY WANT ME TO THINK and this is all a front, and Assange gets some bullshit sentence then goes to live on an island somewhere drinking pina coladas and getting blown on the daily.

7 years ago I would have turned up to protest. I admired all the work Wikileaks did to expose US crimes in Iraq. He lost all that goodwill with me when he decided to phase out some good people at wikileaks for personal gain and took a partisan approach in the US elections to empower Trump.
I feel this way too.
Here’s a conspiracy theory for you:

This is part of Barr cleaning up for Trump. Wikileaks played a big role in election interference and his actions are no doubt detailed in the Mueller Report.

His prosecutor and judge will be carefully selected, he will get a plea deal and a joke of a sentence and will be free as long as he keeps his mouth shut.
Also this.

Can’t believe the consensus opinion here seems to be “feck that guy”. Seems like an extradinarly basic take on the situation. A very scary proposition for whistleblowers.

Yeah, some weird comments here. Sure, he was biased but I appreciate any kind of whistleblowing.

Inevitable really. It’s not like he was going to spend the rest of his life at the embassy with occasional conjugal visits by Pam Anderson.

His arrest doesn't prevent future whistleblowing. It just stops Assange from choosing which sections of leaked/hacked documents his transparency site will be transparent about.

Went into this looking like Dangermouse, came out looking like Pai Mei. It's risky this whistleblowing. If he ends up in the US god alone know what he looks like the next time we see him.

What are the sneaky dealings with Stone?
There are no charges against him in Sweden. There was a preliminary investigation that has been dropped twice.

On your second question the prosecutor who dropped the case claimed it could be reopened again and the lawyer for the alleged victim has been reported today as pressing for that to happen.

They used the Trump team/circle to amplify their leaks. From those DMs again Assange asked Don Jr to tweet out a specific link of theirs and to "push" their story. He's an obvious narcissist and wanted the credit/infamy as the source of the biggest story of the election.

He should have had some dignity and walked out.
If you want to try and generate “public outrage” towards your cause it helps to try and give the impression that you were “forcibly” arrested. Shouting out at the same time also furthers the narrative. Surprised he didn’t go the whole hog and shout “help me”. Many will have lost respect for him today.

I would say he’s relieved in some way. Spending 7 years in a fecking room is no way to live.

Edit: He looks like he’s been injecting plant food into his eye balls for the past 7 years.

Assange is that band that had a good 2 year run then desperately tried to hit that peak in latter years. Turning out tumescent shite. Trying to come back for a farewell tour but realising that nobody wants to listen.

The guy started out with admirable intent attached to a huge ego.
