He's not good enough.

Mata and versatility don't mix. If that's true, Valverde is clueless.Tweet

Delete that in case he reads the caf.Valverde is clueless.
Different club who play in a different way. Put Mata on City and he'd look great in their system. Why would an aging Barcelona team have any interest in a dog slow aging midfielder?
Amen. Amazing that we bought him from Chelsea where he'd dominated in that position and then proceeded to play him out wide.I'll always believe he'd have been great for us as a traditional #10.
Such a shame that so much of his career has been effectively wasted, playing out of position for a string of managers who failed to build any kind of stability into the team, alongside a succession of players who's desired roles left him shunted out of place.
Ah well, certainly not a bad life either way! Thoroughly likeable guy, shame to say it but his time here has long been over I think.
I hope he goes to Italy and tears it up.
Should have been sold before contract ran down, now two of the players we signed for 70 m combined risking to go on a free. Our squad management has been quite poor since Woody took over, I don't expect it to suddenly change over this summer.
Got to agree with this sentiment. His game time should go to Pereira - we shouldn't be renewing his deal. What is wrong with this club?
Interesting. "Stop renewing and rewarding mediocrity" and then happy to keep Jones who is a definition of mediocrity and stealing a livingGot to agree with this sentiment.
The financial decisions made for what feels like forever have been mind bogglingly stupid.
The club MUST stop compounding the foolishness and rebuild accordingly. Stop renewing and rewarding mediocrity under the guise of squad continuity.
However, out of all the names that are thrown around as being shockers I would be happy to keep:
See you laters are:
- Jones, Smalling, Lindelof, Matic, Lingard (he's had a bad season, 2 in row would be goodbye)
- If Herrera was to choose to stay I would be happy.
- I can see Mata being useful but can't argue with freeing up his wage
Wouldn't upset me going with the right replacements:
- Rojo, Bailly, Valencia, Young, Darmian, Sanchez, Lukaku
- De Gea, Martial
With those freed up it would be absolutely about time we reduced the wage bill, keeping the squad players' contracts down. It worries me to think what all our backup players are on.
Our sporting ROI compared to the wages spent is a damn joke.
Hahah. Can't argue with being called out on that on the surface of it! I will fight my corner though.Interesting. "Stop renewing and rewarding mediocrity" and then happy to keep Jones who is a definition of mediocrity and stealing a living
Yeah just get him out.Tear that damn contract
Think of the children #acommongoalTear that damn contract
I notice his bald spot has gone and his hair has become thicker. Hope the old propecia hasn't done a Rooney on him.He can't pass the ball with any power. Can't run, can't beat his man, can't hold the ball due to lack of strength. It's so sad to see United accommodating such averageness.
And been half the player. Really disappointing career here, despite Juanfield and how likeable a person he is.So strange to think that he's played many more games for you lot than he did for Chelsea.
