1-1 would be o.k result for Spurs in first leg.

Ajax have been weaker at home, actually lost to Real Madrid at home so can see Spurs getting a 2-2 or something over there and get through on away goals like tonight.
Ajax was not weaker at home against Madrid. They just wasted more chances.

Well results remain Ajax 1-2 Madrid and Ajax 1-1 Juventus so they're more clinical away. With Son back Spurs will score in Amsterdam so all about making sure they hold Ajax in the home leg imo and keeping them well in the tie.

Eriksen out posts!
Obviously heat of the moment comments but in all honesty, he has been subpar by his very high standards this entire season, put in a shocking performance in this game and for about 2 minutes, every single Spurs fan thought he'd just cost us a place in the CL semifinal because of the most ridiculous in game dallying.

I honestly can't remember ever being angrier at a player in my life. I think the only time that might even come close to comparing was the Suarez handball in the world cup.

I will not actually mind if Spurs wins the CL but they need to hope it's Liverpool for the final.

It's quite amazing how, even in victory, Spurs will still manage to find a way to come *this* close to chucking it away.

To be fair to Spurs fans, they probably feel like they're owed this sort of divine intervention.

We've earned over £90m from the CL in prize money so far this season … with match-day/gate receipts to add in on top of this.

It's a huge and very timely boost to the club coffers given our stadium costs.

Your players' agents will now firmly be knocking on the finance directors' door. Erikson, Alli, Son, Moura, Alderweirald, anyone else I missed? Cant use the 'we don't have money so we have this wage structure' excuse any longer.

I'd expect more contracts to be renewed in the summer - we seem to renew fairly regularly and we have the best bonuses in the league - we may not have the best 'flat salary' rates but our bonuses do make up for a lot of that plus it gives the players ongoing incentives.

Rumours are rife you'll be giving Poch 150 M's to spend. He and the club deserve it after years of austerity and in some ways makes next season potentially one of the most exciting in years. A watershed moment

Hope he gets at least that on top of the money for any sales of players.

They need that money invested in midfield, as it's quite frankly terrible, Wanyama and Winks are injured most of the time. Probably time to move Wanyama on, Winks still has time on his side. Dier is an ok DM but offers virtually nothing going forward. Sissoko the only one that is decent.

They need to drop 60-80mil on a classy CM but who is available?

Apart from that their attack and defence is good, maybe a young backup striker for Kane? Do they have any academy strikers ready to step up?

They have Troy Parrott who is essentially Spurs' equivalent of Mason Greenwood, not in terms of play style(Parrott is a lot like Kane) but he's one they're hoping for big things from. He's only just turned 17 though so it's a bit early, probably need to get in another Llorente-type stop gap in the mean time.

CM and 2 new fullbacks have to be top of the list. And a replacement for Eriksen if he doesn't sign a new contract.

I hope you keep all your players. Will be interesting to see where Poch can take them next season with a new ground and less injuries.

Because he's a better player, comfortably.

Son is great, but Kane is almost the perfect striker and when he plays pretty much everything going forward goes through him. Son is a much greater threat in behind and capable of scoring some extraordinary goals, but Kane is superior in pretty much every other aspect.
We had this debate back in February, and I still think Tottenham performs better with Son Heung-min rather than HK in the side.

Son is banned for the first leg against Ajax. With Kane currently sidelined as well, I can't imagine who they will play up top.

Eriksen will probably leave for Barca and Alderweireld to wherever - hopefully not United despite reports suggesting otherwise - so that's two big game players who will need replacing.

Big summer for them.

Don't see Barca going for Eriksen to be honest. He's not going to improve on what they already have, and I haven't seen speculation about him in the press.

That is completely inaccurate as they seem to think the market pool will go up from last year but it definitely will not. The ten year co-efficient came from the market pool, so market pool this year will decrease. I can't believe a journalist wrote that rubbish, do they not do research.

He has since edited his post, saying "I missed the 'ten year coefficient' part on this". I'm not sure if that takes into account your objections, but anyhow his revised total figure is now £87.5m (excluding match day/gate receipts), so it appears to have only reduced the total by 3 or 4m.
