You should have seen people defending him when Mourinho called him out, it was worse.

I don't understand why fans back one player over the team, I'll never understand it. Sure, it's disappointing when someone talented or world class leaves but fecking hell, we're Manchester United, we don't NEED anyone, the club's bigger than the lot.
It's this type of drivel which annoys me. Why do you think anyone backs him over the club? Has any United fan ever said that? Ever?

He still hasn't got over Ibra taking number 9 of him.
You all are just a bunch of Martial haters.

Of course no one is going to say that. But it's obvious considering the lengths some go to defend him.

He is not doing himself any favour with an attitude like that. Drop him into the reserves as a reminder that no one is bigger than the club.

Tbh he has nowhere to hide now. I do think there were valid points from both sides before, but like all the others, there is no hiding place anymore. I do have hope for him but it's more on him himself, rather than others not getting the best out of him.

So managers never shout at a player on the pitch? I don't think Ole would be the one bringing it out into the open given the disrespect shown during a public warm up.
During a game, then you can say it's the heat of moment. Still many would interpret it differently.

Here during a warm up, imagine if any of the coaches told him to work, but he simply ignored then everyone would noticed, thus making a scene.

You say that in private. You don't want your boss at work to give you feedback when you're out with the boys, do you?
He said this and then gave Pogba the captaincy. He wanted Pogba to understand but Paul did not want to. He tried everything to get Pogba to understand.

Said it after the second Barca game, but it's very telling watching a true great like Messi still running himself into the ground while a never was like Martial lazily ambles around the pitch.

I dont think he is every worth 200K per week, Hope someone from Madrid OR Milan takes him. I am happy to wait for a player to come good but I think Martial personal life is affecting his game too much and hope gong to other continental team might reignite his career. Atleast we could spend that money on a winger who can put team interests on top and excel here.

We all know the best way to start rebuilding is bring in players with right mentality and works their socks off to achieve success and also appreciates playing for club like UTD.

He's s weird character.

There's a part of me who thinks he should no doubt be gone because his attitude on the pitch - I don't like the sulking and lack of pressing ( I think he drops back to help shaw not so bad).

However, there also this weird part me that wants him to go to a slightly lower club & I want to see him do well there.

I feel that martial & Rashford have been bought up in ways that don't suit their game; or the way they played and first broke in to people's eyes. There's these big expectations been placed on them to sometimes play in positions or roles that don't suit them and to go out and be 20 goals per season forwards at the same time. All without anyone in the right wing that stretches space, all with the most minimal creativity or goals from midfield, all with wing backs who are not very good attackers themselves or CB's that cant dictate passes in to midfield early to start an easy counter attack.

Should he be gone? Most probably yes - but I still want to see the lad to do well where he plays in a role that suits him more in a club that may be lower than us but provide a stable first team that share attacking and defensive behaviours equally spread across the pitch.

You can make the argument about the limitations about the rest of the team for our other forwards as well. He is not weird or special, he is taking everyone for a mug.

Yes. When Mourinho wanted him out people turned on Mourinho, to the point it became clear that Martial could do no wrong and was the poor victim of an oppressive regime. These people were so steadfast in their anti-Mourinho agenda that they refused to accept any there could be any truth in the matter, despite Mourinho wanting what was best for the club and the squad as a whole.

Martial became the next Salah/KDB, despite never showing anywhere near those levels of ability, and now we're reaping dividends of allowing a player to become bigger than the club. Martial warms up when he wants, he attends pre season tours and leaves when he wants, he plays when he wants.

Same goes for Lukaku.
Sure Lukaku too. The difference is Lukaku needs a team built like Chelsea with Giroud or Costa or Morata where the team use his as the focal point of the attack with others that constantly create chances for him - other wise he becomes a bit void as he has minimal ability in his all round game.

Martial & Rashford are not good enough to play for City or Liverpool - but the way they play are more suited to them than Chelsea - where the attack is even spread across 3 forwards than one forward with creators on either side for him to finish off chances.

So yes Rashford, Martial, Sanchez & Lukaku are all lacking creativity across the park. However I feel Lukaku needs more of it and for him to be the main target man of the attack for him to reach his heights both literally and the other way.

Rashford, Martial, Sanchez & you can add Greenwood to it play football in a different way. I always understood why Lukaku needed perisic and William on either side - but I'd like to see 3 forwards in a team than one with 2 creators either side of him.

Lukaku was doing his job with Lingard and Mata as two of the players behind him, certainly at home. In fact, the game against Chelsea last season is a good example, and that was with Martial and Alexis also playing in slightly different roles. Lukaku goal and assist, Lingard with the winner. At the time people didn’t want to accept it because they thought we had the capability to play better football but here we are...

The team in general needed a player like Perisic or Willian away from home but that’s another topic regardless.

I get you - even though Lukaku on paper is the best traditional striker we have - I still feel like now that Jose has gone; we need more players to get the best out of him than players to get the best out of players like martial, Rashford, Greenwood, Gomes, Sanchez, Lingard etc - they play a certain way whilst Lukaku by himself is better playing a different way & the same with Fellaini.

Ultimately Jose instead of attempting to make our attack better - he instead went and changed our attack all together. We have the chance of now continuing with what Jose planned with his traditional centre striker or play a more fluid front 3. Since its Ole in charge I still expect it to be the latter.

City, Liverpool, Ajax, PSG, Madrid and more play with a fluid front 3 and I rather see that then what Chelsea, Inter or sometime Juventus use with a traditional number 9.
Spurs under Pochettino seems like the same questions are getting answered once in a whilst - do you have fluidity and play son as a one of your forwards or do you play Kane and rely on his 20-30 goals as their main but sometimes only output? I've said it before and I still stand by it - pochettino is a fairly young manager - but the moment his teams stop to rely on strikers like Kane, Llorente, Lambert, Osvoldo etc - the moment his teams will step up a gear and reach a new tactical attacking ability.

While we can talk about fluid front three’s, there really is no proof Ole can build a team to play that way at a high level. Also, there is little proof that Martial will even work hard enough to become a fitter player than makes more runs or increases his movement to be properly effective in such a team.

To be fair Lukaku tries harder than Martial for sure - but it's not like he is suddenly going to a get a 3 new lungs all of sudden. Not worst in terms of fitness and trying but no where near the best either.

Im not saying Lukaku will, I’m just saying Martial, going off what we have seen, probably wont either. So where does this lad even fit in Ole or no Ole (Jose for example).

Again, I suggest we wait till next season to properly assess the squad. I kept reading, but completely lost interest in your post when you said "despite Mourinho wanting what was best for the club and the squad as a whole.". Do you actually think that? If so I see no point in discussing this with you.

Just on your second point, Martial has shown far more than either De Bruyne or Salah had at that stage in their career, so again, stop talking nonsense.

If someone were to make a decent bid i’d take it but same can be said for too many players.

I didn’t really have an issue with Jose letting him go but only if he was replaced with a player of a similar age rather than quick fix. He sort of feels like a lost cause now.

Tbf though, Jose had a history of nasty conflicts with his own players so then and there it was understandable that some fans sided with the players

Truth. Under Ole we don't speak out, but under Jose we did. That's because certain managers come from habits & Jose was showing the same habits he had done at every club on his CV. He wasn't good enough to get our support then and now it's Martial's turn.

Mourinho wanted what's best for the club

We were right to back martial over mourinho. He didn't fulfil his potential yet but his prime is still ahead. If he didn't cut it next 2/3 years we let him go. Mourinho's prime is 2005.

We all love United
I see that Martial FC is on the verge of dissolving. It's good because at one point of time his defenders on the caf was utterly ridiculous. People say he's talented but i don't really see it. He's just a decent dribbler and finisher who scores on streaks and then goes missing in the next 5 or 6 that's all. In short, he is not reliable at all if you want to win trophies. Son at Spurs for example is twice better the player. We should loan him out next season and have the loan club pay half of his wages to lessen the damage

When Jose gets support its all heaven. When LVG gets support it's all Hell.

Everyone is a failure here. Including your brother Jose :D
I dont get what that post has to do with van Gaal. Forget Jose, people still defending Martial is something I dont understand.

If he proves himself, fine. He deserves the most criticism possible as of now because quite frankly the majority of his career here has been a total myth.

Please tell me, if we end up losing Jose, Pogba and Martial, who really loses here? I have strong feelings about Woodward, I’ve made that clear for a long time. The fans are being royally fecked over.

I really rate Son and thought he was quality back in 2015 when he first joined Spurs (as I did Ericksen when he joined from Ajax) but alot of their supporters felt differently but there was so much potential there. He was inconsistent to start with. He didn't really play as much as he wanted so he asked to leave at the end of his first season. He has grown steadily. Finally now people are seeing his quality because it is his 4th season, he is 26 and has matured as a player so hard to ignore now. His goal scoring stats are 42 in 129 and he is 26. Martial has 34 in 112 and he is 23.

I don't see what is so wrong in giving a player who is 23 years and 4.5 months a little bit longer to see if he can mature in the same way especially if he can rid himself of the knee injuries he keeps getting.

So not his fault then and someone else is to blame?

This stuff was coming out, but no one wanted to believe Mourinho and he was used to shield players. Now he's gone and there's nowhere to hide.

Very frustrating that he got his extension and has pretty much switched off. Was a massive fan but can't be carrying fairweather players. Ole should be allowed to sell if he wants to or we are just going to be going through the same thing that happened with Mourinho with Woody & Co ultimately deciding who stays and who goes.

Eh, with regards to the media I really hate to jump on our players and staff without anything concrete to go by, generally. Especially in a case like this where it seems all too convenient.

Tbh given his track record thus far, it might very well be true but for now with little to no real evidence I won't be too worried.

I would be interested to hear Martial thoughts on himself as a player. A truly honest assessment of his skills and weaknesses, plus where he sees his best position being.

He is still very young, he has plenty of time to improve. I wouldn’t ship him out yet!
