It makes sense that we promote him to our squad next season, and get rid of two CBs that can give us the most money, either Rojo / Jones / Bailey, hopefully we get around £40m. Then use the funds for a new CB.

Well I'll take literally anything to be excited about right now so this will do. Hope the lad does enough to keep others out of the lineup, could really do with the academy doing us a solid in the next couple of seasons. Will also save Solskjær's skin if we line up with 6 or more academy players in the first team.

He was terrible today. Haven't watched him for Villa before the playoffs so I hope it's a one off.
Only watched from the 35th minute on but he wasn't terrible after that point anyway. If anything it was hard to judge him because West Brom were so toothless going forward. Did he make mistakes early on, why was he terrible?
How do we think he rates compared to another young CB say Gomez at liverpool?

A Premier League loan is probably going to be best for him next year, especially to Villa. Although there’s always the risk they might look to buy in that position.
If we buy a centre back and keep Jones and Smalling, he’s going to be 5th choice. Ole has already shown that he’s happy to stick with underperforming older players in key positions. It’s easy to stick Chong on the right wing, but he didn’t start Gomes or Garner in midfield for the last game.

I haven't seen enough of Gomez to say. But @Raees is of the opinion that Axel will be our equivalent to Gomez.

He's a man-mountain now. When did he get this big? It wasnt long ago I thought he needed to bulk up if he was going up against the big boys.

This is why I hated the idea of giving Jones that contract. It would have opened up a spot for Tuanzebe.
According to Villa fans he is poor in heading the ball and they haven't seen a CB who shrinks away form aerial duels like Tuanzebe. He should improve on that to have good career going by Villa fans.
Couple of bad passes and it was his man for their goal. He was in general fairly keen to get rid of the ball quickly. There was also the comedy moment where he completely missed it at the end.

Well I would go with the fans who watch the player's every min rather than the youtube videos which shows highlights or just good points. If the player shrink away from challenge, it won't make the performance video as there will be no involvement.
Think that comes with confidence as his mentality catches up with his physicality.
I have friends from Birmingham who support Villa and i've never heard them say he shirks aerial challenges.
Go to Villatalk forum and they talk about it, that he needs to improve his heading and he shrinks away from aerial duels and it's surprising for a CB.
He doesn’t shirk but his timing needs work. Something he can learn though as it’s not a skill that gets refined as much in the academies these days
He was at fault for West Brom’s goal, lost his man on the corner and wasn’t goal side. He kept his composure though and was very good on the ball in a Villa team which struggled to play out from the back. He came into midfield with the ball a few times. West Brom only seemed to be a danger from corners.

There was question marks over his ability to win aerial duels which was a weakness. But to say he shirks aerial challenges is not true.
I was of that opinion though having watched more of Axel now in the men’s game - I think he’s slightly below Gomez in terms of maturity and innate confidence level under pressure. One is more ready to play at the elite level than the other though injuries may prove to be a handbrake on either players development. Talent wise though Axel is better on the ball and Gomez is the better natural defender.
Whom should I believe? A Villa fan who watches every min of their game or a ManUtd fan who might have watched few games?
I know plenty of Villa fans and have never heard he 'shirks aerial challenges'. Villa fans who are season ticket holders too.
