Well that's blatantly not true. Did you watch him at Fulham? Yes, he scored 15 and 8 assists, but he played in a very attacking team that was pushing for promotion. Swansea is not the same.
My point is quite easy to comprehend . James is not dominating a league which made Sessegnon look like Messi. That doesn't necessarily mean that he is shit. There are different types of wingers after all. For example Nani is not Park. Also some players are late developers. Having said that let's not overrate this player too much for his own good and our own sanity

Sancho will have to kick up a fuss which he won’t do I reckon. This is the 1 signing where I’m expecting no champo league to bite us in the arse
We should invest in Felix I feel. Let Sancho stay another year at Dortmund.

I never really understand this, it's not like Dortmund are going to win it anyway so why would be he bothered? If you want to move clubs it's usually not just because of the CL, which we are hopefully going to regain next year.

Before making it as first teamer, Kane didn't dominate that league also when on loan at similar age. He was 9 goals in 38 games. And he was a striker.

I'm not saying James is guaranteed will reach Kane's level, but let's not rejecting the idea of signing young players from lower league. At least, let us celebrate the signing of pacey winger.

What a weird post. So because we have crap players that barely score we should sign other players who barely score too ?

4 goals in 33 games is an underwhelming number for a winger whatever way we spin it. He may or may not improve but it's silly to not show concerns over such numbers.

Bale had 5 in 40 for Southampton when Spurs signed him, that’s a bit underwhelming too. I really wouldn’t read too much into a young players goal output unless he is an out and out striker where that stat might have a bit more relevance.

Bale was a LB at the time, wasn't he? Can't really compare.

Do people think Utd signing James will mean they won't be looking to sign Pepe, they both play on different sides but would be very surprised to see us sign two wingers, especially when we have issues in defence and centre midfield to address as well.

I am not saying that. If you follow my posts you know that I believe in a system were the first team is quality and the second string are either competitors for the first team place or youth players with the potential of being competitors for a first team place. I am a big hater of the 'squad players'/can do the job players which is why I never liked the likes of OShea, Fortune and Philip Neville very much. Anyway I think James can fit either in the second category (competitors for the first team place) or the third category (youth players with the potential of being competitors).

My concern is that there are people even in this thread that is overrating him. Some even said that he'll be an upgrade on Martial. Don't take me wrong he might end up becoming an upgrade on Martial and if I had a say Martial would leave this club this summer. However James can't and shouldn't be considered as so.

Ronaldo had 4 goal for us in his first season as a winger (in the league 6 out of 40 in all competitions). That is not an impressive number either but he developted.
Not making any comparisons just saying that the lad can only get better in a team with less defensive resposibilites than Swansea.

Bale was also crap at Spurs for a long time, I believe in everyone of his first 20 or so appearances he cursed the team and they lost. Thus he was deemed as shite.

You're right in a sense. Our defenders left their responsibilities at home every time they stepped on the pitch.

Andrei Kanchelskis made me fall in love with Unite
Cracking signing if we can get it done. In the days where Neymar is going for over 200m, deals like this are the way forward. If Pogba goes, we'll add a star name like Dybala, but I would love us to focus on James, Tielemans, Rice, and the likes. Havertz would be my ideal signing of the summer.

I'd imagine he's to provide competition on either wing.
Yes.It is quite a leap of faith to throw James into the first team and expect him to quickly adapt at this level. He'll be used sparingly throughout the season, one predicts.
Looking forward towards this potential signing nonetheless.

Don't care what anyone says, with this kids speed he needs to be tried and tested. His pace alone is worrying for the opposition never mind if he can play or not, which he clearly can.

So he's supposed to fill problem position on the right?
21 year old coming from the championship won't be coming in straight away to fill that role. He will be competition for either side.

We'll sign another winger.

Kane wasn't exactly pulling up trees in the championship,

Some United fans considered Zaha no more than a championship player when we signed him.

If you don't think he is good enough, fair enough but other fans opinions should be used as a pitch of salt and never above your own
And he wasn't when we signed him. He got run out of the club by Moyes/Van Gaal and the fans were happy about it.

Some hilarious stuff on here.

From those labelling £15m a "pittance" to those writing him off(without having seen him play) as they've watched and played football.

Bloomin nora
Is 15mill not a pittance these days? This isn't ten years ago where any player with talent usually cost you around 30mill max, now every talented player usually comes with a 100mill price tag, minimum

Bale also took a few years and game time before he matured into a good player. Our fans would destroy him.
Wasn’t he initially signed as a LB or wing back? It was ‘arry Redknapp who turned him into an attacking mid

Zaha dominated the Championship in a way this kid did not.

Ronaldo could dribble. It was clear from the jump that he had a varied array of skills. James is nothing but speed, he'll be figured out quick in the PL if that's all he has to offer.

He was also 17 not 21 going on 22 and playing as a leftback

Wasn't it you who asked me how many times I'd watched James, as you'd only seen clips? To say he's nothing but speed suggests you haven't seen much of him.

The top players might cost a bomb, but that doesn't in any way make £15m a "Pittance"

Agree totally, I think it's a genius signing.

Fans are obsessed with comparisons, but it doesn't really matter what or where Ronaldo, Pele, Bale, Zaha etc had done anything by whatever age.

Football doesn't work like that. Each player is an individual, and who is to say he won't end up being a smarter buy than someone like Sancho for 8 or 9 times the price!
