Rugby 2019 Discussion

Ulster were dominant there. Miss stockdale massively though when attacking

Israel Folau has been found guilty of a high level Rugby Australia Code of Conduct breach. No punishment handed down yet.

Per Rugby.com.au journo Beth Mooney.

Feckin hell, fine margins. Instead of seeing out the half relatively comfortably ahead, Leinster go in all square. Surprisingly poor game management from them.

All from that tackle on Sexton. Leinster looked out on their feet at the end there.

Would love Saracens to build a purpose-built rugby stadium in London, set permanent roots and build a true local fan-base as London's Premier team. My rugby knowledge isn't that extensive, how have fans of the London clubs like Saracens, Irish and Wasps coped with all the stadium changes? Is it difficult for them to build a good fan base?

Think Saracens are doing quite well at Allianz Park. I live about 45 minutes away and go time to time, always been a good day out.

Two Aussie teams have played the Lions at Ellis Park this season with South African Egon Seconds as the referee. Both Aussie sides lost, both were on the end of one sided officiating. The combined penalty count across the two games: 32-3 in favour of the Lions. I point all this out with great reluctance. I don't like complaining about the officials: penalty counts aren't required to be even; i don't like the two teams who fell the brunt of his one eyed officiating but the Lions can't be that angelic across 160 minutes of rugby.

Feck off Folau. You can be free to express your religious beliefs without being a dickhead but he chose his path.

I really enjoyed this interview 1014 did with Scott Robertson and Rog earlier in the week. Some great insight into an incredibly well run organisation. Can't help but compare it to the farce that is United nowadays :(

Folau should come play in South Africa. Teams are struggling for great full backs and religious beliefs are far from our biggest issues. Id love to have him at the Bulls.

Very proud Exeter fan here, 4th season in a row we’ve reached the final. Just a shame it’s Saracens against us again!

Brilliant atmosphere today also. If any rugby fans haven’t visited Sandy Park for a big game, it’s definitely worth it.

Just back from Glasgow vs. Leinster. Gutted. Thought we were on the receiving end of some harsh refereeing decisions but will have to watch it back to check as hard to tell at the match.

Watching on TV, it went both ways. Brown should have walked for his "tackle" on McGrath. Kearney could have easily got red for his brainless moment. Things like these don't even it up though - they make it disappointing how inconsistently reffed games are now.

Saturday against Australia I believe. Nice easy group we found ourselves in!

I hope the Aussie U20's don't let their 24-0 win over their Kiwi counterparts get to their head. After all, and i don't mean this disrespectfully, the Kiwis aren't world champions and didn't make last year's final.

I hope for Scotland's sake they did some work on their scrummaging as it was a weakness for them against South Africa.

Good luck to the junior Wallabies in their semi final. I hope World Rugby re-asses their well intended high tackle crackdown after the tournament though.

Did you happen to see any of Ireland's game yesterday? An Irish jackaler's knee got blown out by an Italian launching himself into the ruck from the side. Not even a penalty given. This seriously needs to be looked at too, and fast, or there's going to be ACLs popping on a regular basis. Potential career enders too. Dan Leavy will be out for a full year with his.

I watched the SA NZ game and one of the Kiwi's appeared to tackle the junior Springboks scrumhalf late, with no arms, contact to the chin with force. The Aussie ref looked at the tackle on the big screen and deemed the tackle to be a penalty only so the crackdown isn't even consistent. The refs excuse was the shadow of the black jersey making it difficult to see where the 1st point of contact was.
