Indeed. 1/2 a season of steady performances and now suddenly he’s going to be a beast...
He's become massively overrated on here basically just for not being as bad as Jones, Rojo and Bailly. He still makes any back 4 look weak on paper to me.

On topic, we clearly we won't be getting De Ligt.

I actually think we’ll get him for some reason.

He is literally everything a Man United player should be.

my last desperate hope that we are somehow relevant for this transfer is that it's like the Morata-lukaku saga. We keep getting Maguire reports, more stories about De Ligt to PSG, then BAM!! BBC story about us hijacking.

If we can't convince a youngster to basically become the core of MUFC, especially when we will compete with PSG on wages. Feels like a really bad sign for us.

If rumours are to be believed, PSG are offering him 20m euros per year  :wenger:

If he really is signing for PSG Thiago Silva needs to start thinking about whether he goes to China, Qatar or finishes his career back in Brazil.

I only post twice in this thread, to say the same thing; congratulations, he's ours.

Can't help but feel if the team hadn't shit the bed and we'd secure top 4 this transfer might already be done by now.
If we made top 4, the Glazers would think of it as "we are doing well" and not invest in any rebuild. Careful for what you wish for.

If PSG is so difficult to exit from, then United would be the next logical choice from a financial perspective especially if he is looking for a stepping stone while young. Sorry, that's what we have become.

There is one player that you can argue that he use us as a stepping stone and he was sold 10 years ago.

Barcelona not in anymore when they realized they HAVE to spend the money on Griezmann. Money which they don't even really have.

He could come to MU because playing time is most important to him. Van der Sar also put in a good word.

He's a level headed guy, hopefully he doesn't get screwed by his agent.

When is this fecker gonna sign ?

Bejeezus.
Well... you can't blame a 19yo kid for taking his time to make an important decision about his near future, right? I would advice him to relax now, going on a trip far away and after that he can always make the right choice.

Someone suggested this is all part of the Woodward/Raiola power move that happened with Pogba also.

Basically, he's already agreed to sign for us, Woodward and Raiola have that deal done.
Raiola then pimps him around Europe, getting other clubs involved, getting the media involved, working up a storm of interest and social media interaction around the world, ensuring the world is watching.
Then boom, out of no where, United unveil the signing when rumours about him about to sign for another club surface.
Everyone wins, Raiola earns his agent fees, United get the player and it's a perceived show of strength to the rest of Europe.

Or maybe he'll sign for PSG.

We'll see won't we?

Doesn't make sense to completely ruin your career by going there though, he seems smarter than that.
Completely ruin his career at 19 years old by playing for PSG?

A agree with this, he is hugely overrated, I would go as far to say the best of a bad bunch because he isn’t bad but more of a squad player for me. Not a starter in a Team hoping for trophies.

All the talk seems to be PSG or Barcelona with United as outsiders....

But to me, I just have a gut feeling that he'll go to Liverpool.
Partner up with his international colleague Van Dijk at the European Champions, playing fantastic football under a brilliant manager, and with an exceptionally good chance of making history by winning the Premier League.

We shall see....

Thought he was offski to PSG after it had been reported that they’ve blown Barca’s offer out of the water.

Surprised this hasn’t been announced.

In regards to Utd, only reputable source that has linked us with him from what I can remember is Romero. That was a couple of weeks ago. Not heard anyone else other than a few so-called ITK from Reddit and some random guy that does voice impressions.

It's stagnant pool of talent.

Has anyone other than the strikers realistically improved? And that's mainly down to the quality of the opposition they face. Mbappe and Cavani wouldn't get anywhere near the amount of goals elsewhere.

Marquinhos was possibly similar to De Ligt in terms of ability when he went there and he's only marginally better.
Veratti has stagnated.
Neymar wants out after realising the mistake he made.
Mbappe will be off to Madrid in a matter of years.

They can't even hold onto the best French players, why would anyone else go there?

The French league matters as much as the Scottish league does. They're essentially a rich Celtic.

I don’t think Liverpool is that desperate for a good CB as we are, meaning our offering will be higher-which is the only reason he is considering coming to the premier league, more money then Barca.
It’s either Us + a future move to Barca or PSG and retire like a Sultan ?

I like the sound of this and I love the way klopp is developing the team and the players. In our previous lean years I loved watching liverpool and I think the magic there is coming back and it would be good times when liverpool are beating plastic, soulless city.
Of course I would love him at old trafford but put yourself in his shoes and you would favour Barcelona, who could be argued are losing their edge or a resurgent liverpool.

I don’t like PSG and it would be annoying if they gazump us again like with Moura, but people really need to stop this snobbery about the french league.

They all improved, the rare players that haven't improved are the below average and average players like Gameiro and Jesé. But all the young signings improved a lot, Verratti was a Serie B player and the reason he "stagnated" is mainly due to injuries in particular a pubalgia. As for goals, Cavani was scoring the same amount of goals in Serie A.

That's the way I see it and other than the money why go there to play in a nothing league.

Has Martial improved since he joined United?

About as much as Lazar Markovic did for Liverpool.
Great comeback, hitting me right where it hurts

You actually provided just another example that going to the Premier League guarantees exactly nothing regarding the development of a player.
