I know it is unrealistic but I am hoping the delay is because we are finishing up another deal or two over the weekend and want to make a big announcement on Monday to kick off training camp. I know he is heavily linked to Juve but Rabiot is officially free on Monday so we can dream. We do know Ed loves to make a big production of his signings and so the delay here is curious unless he does want to throw in a surprise or two.

But why haven't we announced?
Someone floating the idea on twitter that it is due to the FIFA financial year beginning July 1st. Possibly FFP benefits to making it official in next years business, no idea if that is true but it sounds plausible. Herrera and Valencia are off our books officially on that day so it has the ring of truth to it.

How can the club confirm it to the press but not put something out themselves?
Marketing budget ran out with the Sanchez video. Graphic designers are expensive.
The signing has no relevance to when the transfer is officially lodged with the respective governing bodies though, the contract can be effective from July 1st if that is what United want.
