Really? The only thing that Rashford has on Ronaldo with both being 21 is a better goal tally. Ronaldo was a bit wasteful at times but he’d still absolutely punish teams where as Rashford constantly messes up very good openings.
Ronaldo, whilst wasteful, had the talent of Martial and dedication of Rashford. I don't see either player ever getting close

The front 4 are terrible. Lack of quality and have picked the wrong option to ruin 90% of attacks. Rashford been the main culprit as usual with other others not far behind.

Bollocking about fluently.
Everything up until the finish looking good. Our attackers are too focused on scoring to get the goal - if that makes sense. Still doing low-percentage shots or holding on to the ball far too long - attempting dribbles as well - when there are teammates better positioned with a clear path to the net. And positioning off the ball was actually good - in fact it's improved every game during this preseason and every run looked dangerous with several options - so all we need is for those ball carriers to get their heads up and not obsess over getting at the goal themselves. Realize they have a team surrounding them that they're not alone on the pitch.

And seriously... Wan Bissaka. So far he's exceeded my expectations and I was actually excited about getting him - even at that fee.

Man, I'm just saying what I see. Lingard, in this half, where has he been? He really isnt doing much for the team. Rashford has been in center stage today but he keeps doing what doomed us last season with his shooting and fk's. I'm sorry, but this is what I'm seeing, some positives, some not.
Yeah, I agree with you. We may be in for a rough season.

That’s not my point. Without Pogba on the ball we are not that creative regardless of what Conte and Inter do.
Pogba has been on the ball though he just hasnt been that forward. We have had plenty of ball in and around the box to create more chances. Not everything has to be on Pogba. His through balls to those 4 quick attackers seems to be what OGS wants in this game.

I'd like to see Gomes, McTominay and Greenwood come on for Lingard, Matic and James at half time. James has been our worst player of the half. He's trying but I'd like to see how Greenwood does there. Lingard and Matic have been fine tbh I just want to see how Gomes and McTominay perform against decent players. Also switch Martial to lw and Rashford up front

The chemistry and Decision making of the front three 4 players is not good enough. Specially lingard.

Square peg, round hole with James.

We're very capable of getting the ball to the box but lose ideas once we get inside it, a quality RW was really important this summer and we've not gone for one, again. Shaky from ariel balls, no surpises there with the CB pairing, Smalling and Lindelof will have to be our starters if we don't sign anyone.

Lot of positives though, the pressing is really good and we've been good linking up. Wan-Bissaka and Lindelof the standouts for me. James is definitely best from the left although we already knew that. I don't think we're that far off a good team, a CB and RW, we look to be moving away from having a sole midfielder and moving to a two-man system (which I think Pogba and McTominay can do well in). Does beg the question if we now need an AM instead of a DM.

I don't understand this high press with a 2 man midfield. Pogba cannot get into the game enough and no surprise it’s still 0-0.
He's on the ball enough. We didn't have any end product yet. But like I said. Strange and weird things from you.

How is it over analysing to think we need Pogba on the ball more :wenger:.
You're saying you don't understand a pressing game with our current set up, but it's pretty clearly been a 3 man midfield with Lingard as the most advanced mid and they're all pressing pretty normally? Pogba's been on the ball plenty as well, not sure what the issue is. He probably has more touches than anyone else.

It's been a really impressive first half team performance. Alright we've not scored despite being on top but the change in our play has been refreshing.
I'm really pleased with the way we've played. This is the way I want us to play football. The missed chances don't bother me that much as this is preseason players are still rusty.

Disappointed with our play on the right side nobody is playing James in at all and when he gets here he's limited because he's predominantly left footed. We need a RIGHT footed RW Ole!

Bar that very good display, loving the high pressing and AWB is like a man possessed!

We just need to turn over play faster before they get 8 player behind the ball.
Hes right footed.

Without him we are going to struggle to create. That’s why I don't think the two man midfield is great if we are pressing high. Let Pogba be further forward to be there when we win it high.

He loved Mourinho and loves Lukaku so is basically going to be extra critical about most things these days. Over analyzing a pressing game when it's clearly been working in this game
Exactly. Pressing has been so good in this game

Im saying that it would be better if Pogba was higher up.

Happy to see pace, pressing, camping in the opponents half. Good signs early on in pre season. Can see we are working toward a system of playing. AWB absolutely class, I was wrong to doubt his signing.

I question the sanity of those people saying that Pogba should be sold.
Dont think a single one of them is saying so because they think he's anything but a great player. It's all the other reasons, including that he already decided to go and they rather sell him now than Aug 31 with no replacement

I don’t think so. He’s been bossing the game and giving everybody the ball, they’ve just done nothing with it.

It’s been a top class performance so far.

My take:

Very good: Wan-Bissaka, Pogba, Shaw, Lindelof

Decent: De Gea, Martial, Lingard, Rashford

Rashford hasn’t been poor but needs to improve decision-making
Tuanzebe would surely improve with more minutes and games. Hope he stays on after HT.
James looks more suited on the left, he’s struggled today on the right

(PS) Handanovic is one fine keeper.

He is too lightweight, needs to bulk up. But once he bulks up he will lose some of his speed. Does he have sufficient talent to still be useful to us if he loses 3% of his speed?
Why will he lose his speed? Have you seen a top level sprinters build?

Clearly we need a CB and a 6. That two should be the priority for the rest of the window.
I think we should add a striker to that list. Can't see our forward options scoring enough goals tbh.

Rashford has been god awful. James is struggling against better players. Lingard has been okay, but toothless. Other than that, good performance from everyone involved.

Pogba, Lindelöf and AWB were grand I felt. Lingard was pretty decent too, as was Martial. Shaw and Tuanzebe did their job pretty well too. We badly need a striker and a right winger though. I can't believe we are leaving our right wing empty again.

When we win it, we lack creatively. My problem was not us winning the ball, it’s the situation we find ourselves after that.
These are initial stages. It's so good to finally see ManUtd pressing high and playing on front foot.

You can't tell if he is, certainly 10x more comfortable on the left and can't half whip it in on his left too...
You can, easily. He’s right footed but crosses fine with his left also.

I don't have a problem with us pressing high but when we win it who is going to create.
